  1. I've been a shotgunner all my life, well at least 35 years of it. I am programmed to focus on the target. I started shooting a pistol and IPSC 1.5 years ago and I have a very difficult time remembering to focus on the front sight. Usually the first and second stages in a match I don't even see my front sight, especially at close targets. I am shooting instictively, but manage to get mostly A's. The longer targets I try hard to remember to front sight focus. I have read the FAQ on front sight focus. Information overload. I know I need to practice more with the pistol and do more dry fire excercises. Most of my shooting is on the skeet field. I am not sure I can really improve with the Pistol at the rate I'm going. I'm in D class in Single stack (SW 1911 .45). Anyways, the idea of focusing on the front sight is totally alien to me and it is hard to overcome. Comments and thoughts? Cheers Kevin
  2. Good day to all or good evening if you're on the other side of the planet. I have splashed down on yet another shooting forum. I am an almost retired (57 days and counting) USDA researcher whose primary passion are my dogs (spaniels and retrievers) and hunting over them, mostly ducks and geese. The shotgun is my weapon, and I love my Belgium Brownings (Superposed and A-5, plus one HP 9mm). I shoot skeet, IPSC/USPSA with a 1911 .45. I am also a big game hunter and have hunted in ca. 10 states, NZ, and Zimbabwe. Next stop, Namibia? I am an avid fly fisherman and my dogs help keep me in supply of ample fly tying materials. I enjoy all types of shooting and hunting. I am also interested in Lee-Enfield Rifles. My philosophy is life long learning and staying active. To read is to live. My motto: "Give me three chances and I can do anything." Tally ho! Kevin (AKA The Duck)
  3. "Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way, and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever." — Karen Blixen, Danish author, Out of Africa
  4. In this world there should be more love and less hate. Such as, "I love hunting geese and hearing them thud like a sack of cement when they hit the frozen ground." Tally ho! The Duck
