  1. Ryucasta, Actually I was, and I wanted to use the guts from the original mag. What is different with Glock Part #2183-1 than the one that came in my Drop Free G22 magazine? Thanks, Bucky.
  2. I agree and wouldn't change them in a stock mag. It's a pain getting them to work in the Scherer mags though. -Bucky.
  3. I have Arrendondo followers almost exclusively in both my .38 super and .40 SV tubes and they work very well. However, I also use his springs as well. I switched from the factory SV followers 'cause they would break often. Arrendondo's material/process is pretty tough. Sorry to hear you had troubles. I was thinking of trying one in the Glock 'cause they look like they might work in the Sherer .40 tubes without much modification. Otherwise, you have to really file down a stock Glock follower to get it to work and lock the slide back. Thanks, Bucky.
  4. I was looking to here from anyone that has tried and or is using Arrendondo Glock followers? I so, what do you think? What configuration, i.e. tube, spring, base pad... TIA.
  5. Vince, So no one on the rules committee has enough familiarity with current production guns to notice the problem with rule #1? What, do they all shoot Glocks.... and nothing else? Does anyone see a problem with this? -- Bucky.
  6. Skywalker67, It's sitting next to mine. I just forgot where that is.
  7. Most local matches don't chrono any more either. It doesn't mean that we should get rid of power factors. Problem with the rules is that many of us will abide by them whether they are being checked for or not. But there are some that will not. At last year's FGN I saw quite a few production guns that were not legit. They seemed to be more concerned that you didn't move your holster around or add a magazine pouch then whether of not your gun complied.
  8. I shot with Bruce at the Nats. I was under the impression that the gun met all the requirements, except that they didn't like the magwell. If what you are saying is true, then what happens when HK does offer it up as a standard option???
  9. Skywalker67 I was talking about USPSA Production division which does not have a minimum trigger pull requirement. -- Bucky.

    Glock 9x19 Open

I used WW540 exclusively for a few years in 9x21 and 38 super. I found it not be very temperature sensitive and if any thing got a little faster in hot weather. BTW: I think HS7 = WW571. AA7 is a totally different animal. Great shooter, but will wear the gun out much faster.
  11. One IPSC rule that I wish we adopted is the minimum trigger weight for the first shot. Perhaps we could have lowered it to from 5 to 3 pounds. One area that we couldn't adopt is the magazine rule. We need this division to have a 10 round limit for obvious reasons. Not sure how far the "if the manufacturer offers it, its legal" will go. It already had a test and failed at the 2002 Factory Gun Nationals. Bruce Gray was shooting a factory HK with a factory mag well. By all accounts it should have met the production guidelines, but it was not allowed because the mag well was considered "too gamey". While I think the ruling was right from a logical point a view, not sure I remember reading that in the rule book.
  12. It seems that by setting blanket guidelines for a division, such as production, we leave it open for certain "racey" modifications, yet restrict certain simple and practical modifications. One example quickly comes to mind. With a Glock, since you are allowed to do "trigger work", I've seen sub one pound triggers that were down right scarey. This in my opinion is not what was intended for this division. Yet the $5 Jensen Grip plug which installs in seconds and is a practical addition is not allowed. Anyone on the same page as me here? How would you change it? -- Bucky.
  13. It is amazing how lacking the Beretta web site is, especially when it comes to their handguns. They are missing many of their current models. The biggest reason to stay away from the 92FS for competition is the front sight. Not that its bad, but it can't (easily) be changed. Currently, I've been shooting my Elite II in L-10 and Limited due to the Speed Bump trigger and Burner grips. Never thought IPSC would put more restrictions on a division than IDPA.
  14. Vince, Wasn't it you (or perhaps it was Ivan) that posted a FFP (back in your IPSC list days) that was held by gravity and by a hook?? The first shot would unhook it and any follow up shots would merely delay the falling of the popper. I think the real problem is when a standard popper is turned around in an attemp to make a foward falling popper. The second shot will stand it up and it will stay that way - the voice of experience. Several years ago we did a test with a standard popper turned around to FF. We were able to set it so that once shot from a 9mm would knock it over every time, yet a 175+ pf 38 super would not. I don't think you are supposed to be penalized for power??!! -- Bucky.
  15. I don't think I'd want to try Clays in the 9mm. I know someone who tried it with 115s and they experienced very bad pressure signs way before even making minor.
  16. I'll have to second Steve's opinion. I just shot the Blackwater IDPA match using a Glock 35. I used 3.2 grains of Clays behind a HAP 180 JHP. It shot as light as most the 9mms I've tried. On one stage the SO told the score keeper to make sure the bullet made it all the way through the paper target. He was quite surprised when I told him I was making a 137 Power Factor.

    Blackwater

I shot this match this past weekend. I have yet to see any scores either on their web site or the IDPA site. Anyone know if they are posted anywhere???? Also, any opinions of the match? Was kind of bummed that they through out 10 stages over a little rain.
  18. Hey Run n Gun, I hear you on the Quake II. That was the engine that really changed the face of gaming. We used to have Quake II CTF tournaments every day at lunch. Eventually, all the gamers left for other jobs. Boy I miss them days. Cool thing was spanking a well know GM's butt with some virtual shooting!
  19. How much force is it taking to move it? If you look closely, the lens unit is attached in the front. To sight it in, adjustment screws move that unit right to left and up and down. The front feet should provide ample "spring" tension to hold it in place. So it is suppose to be able to move, with some effort. If it is taking some strength to move it around, it should be ok. I don't use a CMore anymore, but when I did, I remember contacting CMore was always a pleasure. They are a great place to do business with and I am sure they would give you a difinitive answer. They stand behind their products.
  20. Are you sure you are not hitting it and just not realizing it? If you have a screw on extended button, try taking the button off and see if you can duplicate the problem. Also, how light of a mag catch spring do you have? Could it be so light the the recoil is jarring it? Maybe the stick stays in 'cause they usually take a tad longer to start falling out.
  21. Attn: Mistral404 JP has an interesting take on the .45 in a single stack. Here is the link. ttp://www.jprifles.com/mag.htm I'd be interested in reading the article, but I get a page not found. Did you mistype it perhaps, or maybe it was removed. TIA
  22. Most people seem to disagree, but in light framed guns such as Sigs, Glocks, and Berettas... I actually notice more of a difference in my heavier single stack .45 than in my lighter Berretta. Dave Olhasso uses a very strong grip on the gun, where I use a very loose grip. This will certainly change your results.
  23. There are generally two types of Turning targets. One is the drop turner where the target actually drops and twists. The other is a twist turner where the target does not actually drop, but a falling weight causes the targets to twist. I prefer the latter. PASA park has the "drop" style turners and I think they are problematic. There is some kind of hydraulic fluid in the base. I've seen the difference in how fast the target presents itself and dissapears change by almost 4 seconds from the early morning cold to the late afternoon scortching heat.
  24. Will bobbing the hammer of a J-Frame S&W (model 36) reduce the force at which it strikes the hammer? In other words, would a lighter hammer cause a lighter hit? If so, is it significant enough to worry about? Anyone know of someone making "prebobed" hammers for this gun? TIA.
  25. Duane, Where is a good source for "Laser Cast" bullets? Thanks!
