Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I've been shooting my XD9 and XD40 in Production and now I've heard that next year they won't be legal for Production. Can anyone clear this up for me?
  2. I'm using a I-Shot bag and it works very well. Good bags for a reasonable price. http://www.ishot-inc.com/
  3. My local club is going to have a RO Certification class early next year and I would like to take the class. Does anyone have any advice on preparing for it?
  4. I just came home from a match where a shooter (no it wasn't me) was DQed for an AD but I'm not sure this was the right ruling. What happened was the shooter was drawing his pistol and as he was raising it to eye level, it fired early, before he was ready to shoot. The round went down range safely towards the target. The shooter was surprised and paused a moment and the RO stopped him and called it an AD. Shooter was DQed. This doesn't seem to me to be an AD as the round didn't hit within 3m of the shooter and it didn't travel in a unsafe direction. It also doesn't seem to be Unsafe Gun Handling because he was in the process of engaging a target and wasn't moving. Can anyone clarify this for me?
  5. I'm new to 3-gun and I would like some idea of how many rounds to carry for the rifle and shotgun stages. I realize this will vary from match to match but I would like some kind of an idea where to start.
  6. It's one of my favorites also.
  7. I'm shooting a XD-40 Tactical(the 5" barrel) in production and need a load for 40s&w to make minor. Either 180 or 200gr bullets.
  8. I'm finally classified, D class in Production. I just started shooting IPSC last Oct. and am really enjoying it. I'm trying to practice dry firing regularly and using tips and hints from this forum to improve my shooting. With a little more practice I think I can make C class and from there on the challenge really starts. Thanks to everyone here for the help.
  9. As I posted earlier, I own a XD-9 and I now have well over a 1000rds through it with not one proplem. That's using WalMart "Value" pack 9mm ammo. They may be ugly, but they sure do shoot well. A great gun for the money.
  10. Another vote for the XD-9. Good trigger, good grip (especially for small hands), and my favorite, the ambidextrous mag release. I've got over a 1000rds through mine with not a single problem. Most of that was Winchester "Value pack" 9mm from Walmart. 100rds for $10.96. One more thing, the XD's can shoot lead and reloads where as that isn't recommended for stock Glocks. 11. I also get this with my Springfield Armory XD-9. At first I thought I was getting "bit" by the slide, but after looking at my grip I realized it was just an abrasion.
  12. Hello George D, From what I know about Aus. I think Arizona or Texas would both be good places to look. I know they are both very pro-gun states. Definately avoid Illinois and New Jersey.
  13. I have a XD-9 that I just started shooting IPSC with. I've have about 500 rounds through it with no problems. The Winchester "Value" packs from Walmart make ammo very affordable at $11/100rds. I recommend the gun to anyone looking for a sturdy affordable pistol. There are many companies starting to sell accessories for the XD's and there is at least one gunsmith doing work on them. 14. I'm interested in 3 gun matches but have never been to one. Does anyone use the shorty (CAR type) AR15's? I realize you give up the longer sight radius, but to start out, would I be able to use one? (Edited by Sidetracker at 2:03 am on June 17, 2002)
