  1. brand new 650 i was running some empty .40 to check the casefeeder and the deprime die. the shell plate locked up. I can't rotate the shell plate, except back to the index. when i pull the handle, the bottom of the platform hits the cam to move the index, but it doesn't index the plate. my next option was to take it apart and lubricate. but, this is brand new. This is how the machine came from Dillon. What am i doing wrong?
  2. thanks, i'll need to get some Grams springs and followers
  3. Brand new 650. looks like the metal chute for the loaded rounds is binding against the shell plate. I was planning on just bending it outward, but has anybody else had this problem? the chute is attached to the base, strong mount. tool mount is installed but above the chute. (so looking down its the bolt, tool mount, chute, base of 650).
  4. I have a STI 140 mm tube, follower, and spring with a Dawson +1 SNL. The most i can get in is 19. i read that some of you can get 20 or 21. How? thanks.
  5. self defense rounds are nickel plated brass. those are reloadable.
  6. So... correct me if i'm wrong. the additives are just to make the brass more pretty? I don't care about that! Just run the brass thru corn or walnut for (2 hours?) until clean and start reloading? I have found that split cases make a distinctive sound when i juggle it in my hand. Any other method you guys are using?
  7. I got the corn cob from Grainger. why do you use Nu Finish, compared to other polishing agents? I happen to have a bottle sitting around, but being a NOOB I wanted to understand the thought process. Do you use an additive to walnut as well? thanks
  8. Just got my 650 today! Thanks Brian. email tracking would have been good for the 650 as well.
  9. Brian is awesome! I just bought from him earlier this wk. the 650 didn't show up today. Maybe Monday.......
  10. thanks for the list. I just called Brian and ordered something pretty and blue! can't wait, possibly this wknd.....

too much metal in the bacon.....
  12. those curbs are dangerous! i'm surprised it hasn't be outlawed yet!
  13. How much NU finish do you add? what ratio works?
  14. so... after using an ultrasound cleaner... No tumbler is required?
  15. I started with an i-shot bag. Great bag. just bought the midway competition bag. great sale $39. But... what a beast! where i shoot, you have to walk in. i had what i thought i needed, and it nearly broke my back! i need a sherpa for my gear! Probably just get a cart from Home Depot....
  16. I found that the fastest way to getting accepted is by helping out. I'm brand new at this, and i met new friends, got some good pointers - just because i helped out. It is too bad that some people don't help out. What goes around comes around....
  17. I just spent some time working on the brass. this is really dirty, but not terrible. I keep thinking of when i'm going to go shooting... so, i went to home depot and bought some buckets. i drilled a bunch of holes on the bottom of one to use as a strainer. the hard part will be drying the brass. it is still raining outside, so i'm going to lay it out on the garage floor. i've got some cardboard out, hopefully it will be dry in the next day or so...
  18. they are mostly .40 they were kept outside, and with the rain, it has made them wet, muddy and really dirty. I just got them today, so looks like Saturday will be clean brass day.
  19. I just got three 5 gallon pails filled with brass and nickel plated brass. They are wet and very dirty. any suggestions to get this into a condition that i can start tumbling? i was planning on hosing it down (it's wet already). Possibly build a strainer (home depot is down the street). then there is the issue of wet brass. putting into a tumbler is going to be a monster mess. any recommendations on getting rid of the crud and drying the brass?
  20. I've looked at getting a reloading press for years. I didn't buy because i was making good money, and I couldn't justify spending the time to save a couple of bucks. recently, i was shooting some practice rounds and my buddy gave me ten rounds of .40 that he had reloaded the day before. WOW! what a difference. softer recoil, faster second shot... I couldn't believe it. so, now I've sold all of my factory ammo. Done my research for what I want. BTW. Brian Enos is awesome. He answered all of my questions. I'm buying a 650 with the next paycheck.
  21. first time placing the slidestop back in was brutal. it get's easier each time you do it.
  22. i ended up getting a racemaster for the STIs that i own. one holster multiple guns. worked out well so far. as a newbie, i try to hide it. what do they also say about the guys with the shiny gear?.....
