Yeah, when I update my scope (MTAC 1-4x) to either a vortex 1-6x or a leupold multigun 1-6x I will get a larue mount. Until then I will make the P.E.P.R mount work. I will keep an eye on the levers, I was worried about them being under too much tension (I had them tighter than I do now when I first figured this out). Cheers, Jeremy

I use the hiviz rear sight as well and with the stock front sight (and .250 stock drop) slugs were still 10 inches high at 50 yards on the lowest rear sight setting. I created a spaced for the front sight out of a piece of plastic and placed it under the front sight with lock tight on the threads and am now spot on at 50 yards. The spacer is approx. 1/8" thick and still allows enough threads of the front sight to grab without working loose (after one match so far). Cheers, Jeremy

I was tracing down grouping problems when I noticed I had some play between the Burris P.E.P.R and my upper receiver rail, without finding any instructions or other people having the same issue I went and took the mount off and realized that the quick throw levers can be tightened. There are nuts on the reverse side that have a spring loaded pin holding detents in the nuts from working loose, if you press the qd levers in to the mount to move the nuts away from the pin the nuts can be tightened until the qd levers close with enough force or tight enough to your rail for your satisfaction. I tightened each of mine approximately 180 degrees, no play now. This can be really beneficial if your rail is worn or out of specs. Hope this helps someone with similar problems. Jeremy

An update from me, the brownells low drag follower didn't do the trick. I had a large reamer that just caught the edge of the tube and I used that to open the transition a bit. I also learned that the extension screws in to the threaded union (I thought it was pressed on and free spinning) so I tightened that. Mine's running much better now, still hangs up once in a blue moon, no where near how often it was though. I have the gg&g sling adapter under the extension union, which is probably causing the remaining issue. Good to hear on the nordic comp follower, I was looking at the gg&g one. Cheers, JP5

I have a similar issue where the follower gets hung up where the extension meets the tube. If you take off the end cap and drop the follower in you can see it get hung up there some times. Tapping the butt on the ground causes it to move, or if it is hung up with shells in the tube a good shake gets it to follow. I'm trying to smooth the transition now and I got a low drag follower from brownells to see if that helps. More to follow. Cheers, JP5

Surefire EP-4's. They're good, the only time I plug the little plug in on them is indoors or under an overhead when shooting rifles. For $14 they are great and allow you to converse without taking them out. Some say that when you get a cheekweld that they shift in your ear and don't protect as well, but I have not had that problem. Howdy all, I know I'm kinda the odd guy out running a glock 21 in 3 gun competitions, but I run what I have and I carry a glock 30, so the handling carries over for the most part. I picked up a pearce +2 base plate for the glock 21 just to see how they would perform and see if that would restore some of the disadvantage in magazine capacity compared to a 9mm. I used it at my last competition for 4 stages and only had one problem. I went to load and make ready and inserted the mag, then pulled the slide to the rear to chamber a round, and the first round popped out and dropped onto the table. I let the round stay, released the slide to chamber the next round and finished the stage with 14 rounds with no incident, but found it disheartening that it wasn't flawless, and so I went and purchased some wolff +5% springs to see if the added spring pressure will keep that from happening in the future. I have a Tactical Assault Gear (TAG) molle leg rig with 3 x 6 round CCW strippers on it plus another on my belt. I could probably fit another row of 3 x 6 rd CCWs on it if I thought I needed that many, or I could add a few more to my belt. The 6 rounders are really tall on the belt and dig in if there is any movement. Past that, I dunno, side saddle, and a dump pouch full of birdshot. As far as keeping track, I would start out with the specialty load shots in the gun if possible and or keep one or two of the CCW strippers loaded up with the buck and slugs with a couple extra. My standard is the same amount of magazines in dollars as the firearm costs. So for my glock 21 ($500ish, what I paid for it) at my acceptable price of $20 a magazine, that means my ideal is 25 magazines. I am at 9 now. Granted I will have three weapons that can use the magazines though, a kriss super v, glock 21 and glock 30. For my AR that breaks down to about 90 mags (not including the price of the optic). Got a ways to go for that one too. Food for thought, JP5

Been running a 590 that I had chokes installed in all year. It works great, the only thing really limiting me is how fast I can load the tube. It hasn't had any reliability problems like some saiga's or other tube fed semi autos, as long as you don't short stroke the pump it will always load and eject. Good luck, Jeremy P.S. Tuff products 5 in line holster, they fit in there nice and snug, and since it's fabric it conforms to the belt. The cover is removable for easier access to the magazines. I want to say it costs about $40. Cheers, Jeremy

I had no idea a primer even fit in there... But like it was mentioned, it has to go somewhere. You mentioned having to pull (and either replace or straighten) the gas tube, for obvious reasons, but could you get the primer out of the carrier key? I imagine it's in there pretty good. Jeremy

I've got plenty of FFL's that I could transfer to. That's not the problem. I just couldn't find any, any time somewhere had them in stock by the time I went to make a purchase, they were gone or they were on an auction site for what I thought was significant markup. However, I just found out budsgunshop has at least one in, and so I bought one, I took everyone's advice. Thanks guys, I am going on a business trip for a week, if the 930 is there in the shop when I get back and I can't find a JM for under $650, I'll probably pick it up and send the barrel to Guncat. I emailed him and got pretty much the same quote above except I added forcing cone work (figured I might as well while I have it out). I figure $650 is reasonable, when they were in stock in places thats about what they were going for, now some enterprising individuals are getting more for them off auction sights (I watched that auction too). Yeah, I read about opening the loading port and trimming the back of the handguard to make loading shells easier also the lifter and bolt handle. I figure all told I'd be putting another $300 into the shotgun to be ready for 3 gun so about even with a brand new JM whenever they start staying on the shelves. I dunno, I'll see if it's there in a week, and if so I may go get it to give me something to do. I'll post something if I decide to make something of it. Jeremy

David, Thanks, I know right out of the box the JM seems the best bang for the buck, and from my limited experience with it, I am pretty sure I wouldn't change anything, at least not right off the bat. Also, if I do go pick this 930 up, what should I look for in a used 930? The trigger group seemed tight, there was little to no wear, and the action cycled smooth. Ok guys, been following the 930 posts now for quite some time. I have pretty much decided on a 930 as an upgrade for my 590. I was going to save my coins and get a Jerry version, but it seems like every time they come in stock they are gone soon thereafter or are marked up significantly. I saw a used 930 with 28" ported barrel at a local shop for $330 out the door, might be able to get it down to $300, I know I need to add an extended mag, barrel clamp, and get the barrel shortened and threaded (it seems around $150 is the going rate for the barrel work, either locally or including shipping to get it done). Either way it seems like I am around the $500 range all said and done. Should I jump on this gone or wait for the Jerry's to come back in stock. Thanks, Jeremy

I got mine done after a recent match (couldn't spin the spinner, even with #6 shot), got it done for the accu chokes, there's a good amount of meat on those barrels for threading, hope to check mine out this weekend to see how it does. I recently shot a pump and beat a couple of guys with autos, my biggest draw back was the lack of choke. Like most are saying, go have fun, if it is something you are going to get serious about save some money here and there for an auto. Budsgunshop.com does 90 day layaway if that is easier for you than setting aside money. I'll probably upgrade this fall to an auto, in the mean time, I need to keep practicing reloads and get a few more carriers. Cheers, Jeremy

I've got one for my glock 21, have about 7 remington bulk boxes through it, mags are a little tough to find sometimes (check gunbroker), it runs rough when it gets dirty, so great for malfunction drills (ftf, fte). With the slide being aluminum it actually has recoil, though not as much as a .45. Everyone I've lent it to at the range loves it. Cheers, Jeremy

I've had one for 6 months, besides breaking over the butler cap covers, the only other problems I have seen is the lowest brightness setting is way to bright for a night shot (complete darkness, not twilight or lowlight), it washes out the target. Also, in the brightest of days, the brightest setting seems kinda dim, not a problem if you don't want to use the illumination. Otherwise I love it, I have a cat tail and scope coat coming for it. I've played around with the BDC a little bit, and it is useful and accurate for quick distance shots. Cheers, Jeremy

Well, that was one hell of a match. Didn't do too well, not that I expected to do. Long range AR 10's and 15's along with a good amount of bolt actions dominated the match. The 4x wasn't nearly enough, and the BDC in the MTAC, while good, didn't compensate for the lack of magnification. I let my partner take all the shots past 300 yards, but I made a couple myself. I should have zero'd for 100 yards, that would have made some of the shots easier. There was a VTAC barricade that I had a slight advantage with the carbine, but it didn't make up for shooting with the barricade for the first time. I would have done better with a longer barrel, and a higher power midot scope with illuminated reticle and an offset reflex sight. The grippod worked great, the 69 grain prvi partizans worked fine for the shots I made. I need to start going to more matches to get practice for matches like this. BTW, the match was the pasquotank precision rifle match, a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis. Overall, I had a great time, I've got a lot to learn, and some more stuff to buy. Hey Guys, Thanks for the advise, I know the match coming up isn't the typical precision match, but with an 800ish yard stage I thought it fit best. Anyhow, I took the AR with the MTAC out to the 300 yd range, and with 69 grain match prvi partizan ammo was getting about 8" groups at 300 yards laying prone with a grip pod and rear support bag, no key-holing so I think thats going to be the ammo for the twist rate and I'll bring that instead of the cetme, you're guys advise made sense with weight, ergonomics, and poor choice of scope for close in work. The 2 moa center dot worked well, it zero's at 25 yards and 300 yards so I know between that my shots will be high and past 600 yards is going to be a crap shoot for me, I've got the ballistics numbers, but with only 4x of magnification, I'm at a disadvantage. Yeah, distances are approximate, target size is known and laser range finders are prohibited, hell from one stage we have to shoot from a moving platform. I forgot to mention the competition is a team of two event, and my partner is bringing a .308 700 with a 10x SS scope, he has the dope worked out so he is set for the longer range shots and I'll have the advantage with the shorter ones, I don't have high expectations, just to have fun, I've been shooting for years, just recently got into competing. My list of things to get is long (the ACOG is nice, I've used one before on a military carbine), but I don't plan on waiting to have the ideal setup as it will probably change anyways as I do more and more and plus I won't really focus on one discipline. The nice thing about my AR is it's an MGI hydra with a quick change barrel and magwell, so I can change barrels easily and cheaper, I just won't get a longer barrel and handguard extension in time for the match.
