  1. Anybody having issues with the MBX 18 round 45 ACP magazines. I really have to slam them into the gun to lock in place. Sometimes I need to slam it in 2-3 times to seat the magazine. I believe they are 141.25 mm in length. Help if you can. Thanks Mike
  2. Depends on the OAL. In my 5" 1911 5.3-5.4 gives me a 172.5 pf for USPSA. OAL is 1.245-1.250. Mike
  3. Can use Winchester 231 or HP-38. Either powder 5.2 grains OAL 1.245-1.250 also check your taper crimp, .466-.468. Should run like crap through a goose. IMVHO. Mike
  4. I use 5 mags. The one in my front pocket I load, then drop mag and insert 1 round to top off. Have a pouch on my belt with 3 rounds on it to top off my first mag. Been doing that for years. Works for me IMVHO. Mike
  5. All I am saying is if it is a high primer, it goes in my practice box. Will not use for a match. Will not try to reseat a completed round. Mike
  6. Have a 450B which I have converted to a 550B with the auto primer feeder and the auto powder feeder. Had an issue of the primers not seating all the way, High primer. Got a shim plate from Dillion and set it under the primer feeder also brought the shell plate down just a little and brought the sizing primer die down a bit. Problem went away. If the cartiage is complete I will not try to reseat the primer. IMVHO, that is just asking for Murphy's Law to rise it's ugly head. You can call Dillion and explain your problem and they can walk you through it to help fix your problem. Thanks Mike
  7. IMVHO: The competitor has a 3 ft radius from his feet for holstering and unholstering. If you are concerned, as you have a right to be, have the MD get involved as you have and in addition to that, have the shooter show you a draw in the safe area to check to make sure they(the shooter) will not sweep themselves or the RO. Have been doing this a very long time (1st match was in 1986), so I understand your concern. Sometimes you can only bring a horse to water, not make them drink. Stay strong and thank you for your help on the range. Mike
  8. Had that happen to both my 450B's. Sent to Dillion and they repaired and returned all within 2 weeks. They are great. IMVHO Mike

    Rules

I shoot a lot of matches in South Texas. Have seen several where the MD isn't very knowledgeable with the rules. Some of these clubs do not have enough cert RO or SO and when you are ready to shoot and have a question on the COF, and the answer is BS and doesn't have a rule to back it up, you need to pull out the rule book and just say that what you are doing is wrong. Have pulled out the rule book and have had to show someone that is just crap. lets fix it. IMVHO Mike
  10. mont1120, Have 6 MBX 18 round 45 ACP magazines. Had a problem with reloading on the move. Have 19 in weapon in first one. 2-3-4 etc have 17 in them. I have to slam the magazine in very hard, sometimes it takes 2 tries to make it work. The gun is a 2011 Edge tricked out. does this happen to you? Mike
  11. Johnbu, you are talking about the slide stop pin. Excellent place to place trigger finger. I do that on every reload, just because it works for me. IMVHO Thanks, Mike
  12. Sorry for your loss. Have a Blue Heeler that I had to put down last year. She was 18. Love that old girl. Mike
  13. We have been doing exactly as you are doing. Sometimes at tear down it works. At least the shooters are tearing down the stage after all shooters are done. But then the 3-4 who setup use two-three trailers to put everything away. We use Practicsore for registration and for scoring. Have not thought about not posting a start time. That makes sense so no one knows when it starts until all stages are set up. As far as confrontation , I am not afraid of that. I will be the first one to tell a shooter, "NEED TAPERS out here. Or need some kind of help. But I have been at this since 1986 in South Texas. USPSA, IDPA in 1997, 3 gun and 2 gun. Shy I am not, but have to temper that do not want to drive shooters away. I know some who shouldnot be there but what the hell, it happens. IMVHO Mike
  14. My matches run short, medium, and long. I like to shoot SS in USPSA so I will set them up so I have a challenge. Not a hosier fest. Your point is well taken and we try to spread it out. In our 2 Gun, will have rifle pistol transition or visa versa. So yes we the guys putting these matches on are trying all kinds of things. I guess it comes down to how motivated a shooter is to help and to learn how to put on a good or great match. IMVHO Mike
  15. All the guys who help set up are either given a discount to shoot for $5.00 if they help set up the day before and help on match day. The M/D shoots for free and the others who help on Sunday pay $10.00, so we are rewarding the folks who help. Our match fee is $20.00 for members and $25.00 for non. If the shooter is coming from out of town 50 or more miles do not ask them to set up but do ask everyone to at least tear stage down when the match is over. In South Texas too hot to try to start a match at 12-1 in the summer. We try to start at 9:00 in the summer which is 7-8 months out of the year. So we are trying to get more people involved, but yes some of you had said that some do not give a rats ass to set up, just want to shoot and go home. Have shot else where in Texas, Alpha Mike being one of them, also RCSC in San Antonio. Have not ever held back scores on folks that are local do not help. just asking for input on how we can get more partition. We also have two or three trailers with props on them so we move from bay to bay to set up stages. Sometimes 4-6 stages depending on what it is USPSA< 2-Gun or 3-Gun. Thanks for all the input Mike
  16. Have a bit of an issue and would like some input from this large group. The club I belong to, puts on two matches a month. The day before the match, there are usually only 2-3 of the same people that will take the time to come out to the range and help set up the COF's. On match day we get there about 2-3 hours before the match starts and set the rest of it up. How do you get these shooters to be more involved with COF setup. We all know this is a volunteer sport and can not grow without help from like minded people. We do get some help in tear down, the shooters tear down the last stage, do not load on the trailer nor do they help put everything away. How do other clubs handle this. Do not post scores til everything is put away. Do not post scores of the shooters that do not help? I understand that folks work on Saturday and do not get to the range til 30 minutes before start time. Like some input as to what other clubs do to get folks involved. Thanks, Mike
  17. 200 gr swc with 4.1 grs of Clays Austr. OAL is 1.245-1.250 pf 172 out of a 5' 1911 45ACP 200 gr swc with 5.3 grs of HP_38 at OAL of 1.245-1.250 pf 172 out of a 5' 1911 45ACP Both loads work in 4 of my 1911 45ACP pistols. Works for me. Thanks, Mike
  18. You can wait til you have 500 to 1000 SP brass in 45 and then convert your press and run them til you are done with them. That is what I am doing. don't quite have 1000 yet. I think that only makes sense if you reload and do not want to waste the brass. IMVHO Mike
  19. Do you have some of these bullets left or are they all loaded? Also does the Glock still have its factory barrel? Mike

    45 ACP LOAD

Gun went back to smith. He ran it with my ammo, 200 gr SWC and found it to be a mag problem. So I will monitor it and mark all mags and check them often. Thanks for the input. Mike

    45 ACP LOAD

Thanks for the input. I tried the Mac again at a match with the 200 gr SWC. Did not make it through the first course of fire. 14 round course and it tied up on round 7 on the first magazine. Said screw it, brought out the 5" Colt and using the SWC 200 gr worked like a champ 150 rounds no problem. Did mic the feed lips for the double stack MAC, they are at .400-.416, which is in spec. So I am still at a total loss. The bullets mic out on OAL at 1.245-1.25. Mike

    45 ACP LOAD

Having an issue with Bayou Bullets. Shoot a 225 FP green bullet in a Colt 45. OAL is 1.222, do not have a problem with it in my 5" guns. Have a MAC 3011 and that OAL the gun doesn't feed 100%. Went to my gunsmith and was told to lengthen the OAL to 1.245-1.25 (which I use for my 200 SWC). anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance. Mike
  23. I run 4.2 with a 200 SWC bayou bullet at 1.245 at 172.4 PF out of a 5" 1911 government model. Same load in my MAC 3011 5" double stack runs 172.5 PF. So it works for me. IMVHO Mike
  24. I agree Chris (JAFO). Just shoot what you like and are comfortable with buddy. That'swhat it takes today. Mike
  25. If right handed shooter, use your left thumb, do not have to change grip and is very fast on reload.IMVHO Mike
