  1. My check cleared as well, but no confirm yet. I would guess that with SHOT this week, Ken and crew have been pretty busy. When I open the app at the top of the page, I get the address to send the app to, t-shirt listing, etc. Are you opening the document with Word? If you are having problems, message me your email addy and I will forward a converted PDF to you.
  2. I did, in essence, torque the barrel nut for my Clark by hand. I simply went to the first gas tube hole in the barrel nut that started giving me some resistance and then went to the next hole. With the installation torque range of the barrel being such a wide range, 30-80 ft-lbs, as it does, I felt that my non-instrumented hand installation was adequate.
  3. The application lists this address: Midwest 3-Gun Championships P.O. Box 105 503 East Nifong Blvd. Columbia, MO 65203
  4. I use a moly based wheel bearing grease on my barrel nuts. I recently installed a Clark handguard and used a pipe wrench to take my nut to its final "torque". No problems at all with the wrench marks. If you think about it, it actually adds a little more surface area/roughness for the epoxy to adhere to. Also, there is a tool other than a strap wrench that you can use to remove the handguard if ever needed. DPMS makes a barrel nut wrench called the "DPMS AR-15 FREE FLOAT TUBE WRENCH". It actually engages the barrel nut from the rear. Brownells sells them.
  5. A few more videos from this week's indoor defensive pistol league...
  6. Not a direct answer, but, in my opinion, this is the best resource out there... I learned to run toolroom machinery by an oldtimer that didn't memorize feed rates, cut his own tooling and used sight, feel and sound to move metal. Now for a more direct answer, as most others have suggested, these would be my picks: Machinery's Handbook, Mark's Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers, old steel books e.g. Bethlehem Steel's Modern Steels, old copy of American Society of Tool Engineer's Tool Engineer's Handbook, Text-Book of Advanced Machine Work (old and slightly outdated, but all the basics remain the same).
  7. I prefer a good firm, serious handshake. I am never impressed by the jackwagon that must show his manliness by attempting to crush my hand or purposely grabs my hand further out towards the fingers while wrenching down, preventing me from returning the favor of turning their metacarpals into dust. I also use the fist bump with other investigators after digging through a commercial wok range in some small town Chinese restaurant that caught fire over night. Ten year old wok grease may as well be fast acting Gorilla Glue and a firm handshake combined with this all natural super adhesive will result in hours of destructive disassembly of intertwined gloves, hands and/or fingers.
  8. I got a new Gopro HD Hero Camera for Christmas. So, I took it along to our local indoor pistol league. Here is a stage from that league. Not my best shooting, I was slooooooowwww (or at least I felt like I was slow), not sure why, but I was. Gotta love that monstrous shot pickup on T2. If I had taken any more time, I could have sprouted roots from my feet into the concrete floor, bbllllaaaaahhhhhhhhh... but it was still fun and I had a great time.
  9. Just a quick status update... I was contacted by FNH customer service directly after being unable to contact them, complaining to Az Gun Runners, them emailing Mark Hanish and Mark Hanish contacting their service department. Their service department was very apologetic, explained that there are only two of them and they were backed up with service, vacations and the like. I completely understand and don't fault them. Just bad timing and luck for me. Talking with them though, it sounded like I would be able to send the barrel in and just get a warranty replacement. The barrel was logged in my FNH service on December 21st and is listed as requiring and waiting for warranty repair: new front sight and polish barrel bore. I like the FNH people, they are all very nice, whether FNH team shooters or employees. But, haven't been overly thrilled with my purchase of a SLP barrel thus far from AGR. So, hopefully I will get a repaired (although mismarked and would stink for any possible resale in the future) barrel or a new barrel sooner or later. Maybe, just maybe, I will get the barrel I paid for back in November before the two month mark. Will keep the thread updated.
  10. All of the commercials that have been playing state that the premiere is Wednesday, January 26th @ 9 PM Eastern.
  11. Thanks Mark. I will drop a line to Burris and see what their response is. This "dentent-like" bump is only as you just come off of 4x. Once off of four, the adjustment ring is smooth. I can even feel this "detent" snap in when going to 4x. If I rapidly transition the magnification, I don't even notice it. But a slow/deliberate transition reveals this "detent". Anyway, sorry all for the digression, no more "whining" from me... for now at least.
  12. I am probably just being a little anal about this, but for the XTR owners out there, specifically the 1-4x... I just picked up a 1-4x and mounted it on my AR to try out. When switching from 4x downward in magnification, do you notice what almost feels like a light detent disengaging in the adjustment knob?
  13. Dropped my entry form in the mail tonight and reserved a room at the Hampton Inn off of Clark Ave. I am ready!
  14. That is too funny but very true. In all seriousness, I really enjoy him as an RO. He is always very much into the game and a super nice guy.
  15. I know that Ken Flood and FNH team shooter Larry Wayland both RO'd CMMG's Halloween shoot. I wasn't there, but I know for sure that Larry Wayland was also at the CMMG shoot just this past weekend. Heck, Ken may have been there as well again for all I know.
  16. That video was one of the best videos I have seen on YouTube in a while, if not ever. I laughed at, I mean with, and applauded you at the same time. That IS the ultimate three gun cart! Digression aside, I utilize my kids' double, jogging stroller for my three gun hauler. I utilize a set of double ATV racks attached to the center divider/frame of the stroller. I am a hoarder and always prepared, so I usually use every cubic inch of space of the double stroller. Not sure how others get by with just the single seater.
  17. I don't have one, planning on eventually trying out the Super Dynamic 3 Gun, with flat trigger, but here is one recent thread with some info for you... Geissele Trigger Difference?
  18. Assaulter, I was at the October shoot as well. I was dressed as Tallahassee from Zombieland since it was the day before Halloween and utilized my suppressed P22 and SBR AK. I wasn't at the MW3G match last year, but I am guessing that the stage you are referring to was the stage to the far right. The stage had some pistol steel and rack as well as two sets of rifle steel with the last target of the second set sitting in the shadows, blending in so well with the background.
  19. Date and entry form have been posted at midwest3gun.com. May 20-22th, 2011 Entry Form I will be sending in my app as soon as I get a confirm from some people about squading up together.
  20. Note, I am not a member of NST, Taran Butler, anywhere remotely close to the skill level of the AMU shooters, any kin to Jerry Miculek, etc. As a matter of fact, 99.999% of 3 Gunners would not even recognize my name. At this point, I am not that fast and will not break any speed records. But, speed is starting to come for me as I continue to practice. After videoing myself, dissecting those videos and basic experimentation, this is what I found that works best for me: - When grabbing the shells from the caddy, I have the base of the shells against my ring finger and my pinky finger is the only free finger. I am 6'6" and have bear paws for hands with alien-like long fingers. For some reason, resting the shells higher on my fingers and shown in the NST video resulted in nothing but flubs and fumbles for me. - The shotgun is moved down from my shoulder with the butt of the gun resting on my abs/high hip. I then roll the gun ever so slightly clockwise (from the shooter's viewpoint) and expose the left edge of the loading port to me, the shooter. - I then load the shells similarly to that shown in NST's video. By rolling the shotgun outward slightly, it forces the loading hand upward ever so slightly. This aids in preventing gravity from having as detrimental of an effect on the shells as you load. It is a little reminiscent of the whole "let gravity work with you, not against you." As previously stated, everybody is sure to have minor differences with what works best for them. So, since others have videos floating around and in hopes of becoming an absolute internet sensation, I have uploaded some video cuts of myself and a couple of four-round reloads in an attempt to visually demonstrate what I explained above. The video is comprised of four clips. The first clip is merely untimed practice. The second clip is of a six second par time reload with the third clip being a slow motion and zoomed version of the second clip. The final clip is of a four second par time reload (notice I did not beat the buzzer ).
  21. I am newer to the "game", but I do a fair amount of different dry practice in my basement. My practice is similar to what others have said: shotgun reloading, target transitions, firearm transitions, pistol reloads, etc. Specifically, for my target transitions, I stand in the basement and pick out a "course of fire" (usually, the targets are old moving boxes, old kid's toys, etc.) similarly to a walkthrough while committing my transitions to memory. Then, I "run the course". The biggest time wasters for me aren't a result of poor marksmanship skills, but rather my various transitions and reloads. So, those are quickly becoming my regular wintertime exercises.
  22. +1 I don't disagree with you guys, but this is the process that they stated they required. Basically, they offered that if FNH falls through, then they will step in. AGR is rather adamant that they are primarily a large scale wholesaler/distributor and discourage returns. I knew this buying from them, but I had heard decent things about them and they had the barrel I was wanting in stock. So, I ordered anyway. But, at the same time, if they don't wish to deal with this aspect of it, maybe they should not allow individual sales. Who knows! Regardless, I am stuck in the process as outlined. If all else fails, I will likely see one of the FN team shooters this next weekend at a "Fun Shoot" and can ask them about it.
  23. Well, the barrel has other issues. The bore of the barrel is not fully honed all of the way to the end when approaching the shoulder in the bore for the choke tube. There is a decent sized rough patch that will definitely cause fouling issues in my opinion. I initially thought that it was just some manufacturing/packing grease or the like, but I couldn't have been that lucky. Anyway, AGR asked me to contact FN first for a warranty return/exchange since they are only a distributor for them. So, I called the general CS number that AGR forwarded me and had to leave a voice message. Hopefully they are quick in response. This stinks when you pay over $300 for a new barrel! Oh well, wouldn't want things to be too easy or life would be boring.
