  1. Come on man! You'd rather stand in 1 spot and shoot 5 stationary targets instead of testing ALL your skills with 3 guns? Man up and come to Belton. We'll have someone watch your purse while you shoot. Bill, You have thrown down the gauntlet lol, I will be there with my pink purse in hand and Ron is about 99% going to go with me.
  2. Bill, this course looks totally awesome was thinking about shooting steel in Spart. to get home early, now I'm torn as to go to 3 gun and get my butt kicked shooting 3 gun and then again when I get home.

    Deer Crossing

The question is how long does it take to train the deer to cross in new sign location?
  5. +1 on Spartanburg Practical Shooting Association top notch pistol shoots and a great bunch of shooters
  6. Hello Clif, I don't know exactly where you are located but there are 2 3gun shoots alot closer to Columbia SC than TAC2 in TN, Walnut Grove 3 gun in Bostic NC http://www.walnutgrove3gun.webs.com/ the last Saturday of the month, and one in Belton SC put on by Wheaton Arms the 2nd Sat. of month (next Sat.) http://www.wheatonarms.com/ both are great shoots. Hope this helps, Mike
  7. It works for me with my abused body and old injuries from my younger days...knee, shoulder, ankle, etc. It takes about 2 weeks for me to see results and when I run out I can feel pains and stiffness coming back in about 3 to 5 days. Its kind of expensive and I really dont know if there is a big difference in brands so I buy the one on sale if possible. If you try it give it a while to take effect then after a few months let yourself run out of it, if you are like me you will be buying more.
  8. Loading at 1.230 OAL is your chamber cut deep enough to take that long of a round? I had to have the chamber lenghtened in one of STI's when new to take longer COL bullets as they wouldnt go into battery at 1.195 COL...just a thought
  9. Reason for all my questions on this is I just purchased a brand new custom gun and I want to do everything right maintenance wise.
  10. bore snake with solvent followed by oil patch (to remove solvent)then dry patches would this work?
  11. Maybe this ties in with many older posts on to clean or not clean a handgun barrel, I was always taught to clean my guns and barrel after every shooting session and have for most of my life. After reading posts on here and Schueman,s reccomendation not to clean your barrel I decided not run a brush down my barrels, but I do feel the need to keep my chamber clean so I nylon brush the chamber and run a solvent soaked patch down the chamber and through the bore and follow with dry patches until clean then follow with Rem oil soaked patch and follow dry patches until they come out clean....I know of no other way to get the residue from cleaning the chamber out other than going from the muzzle end with my patches and there is no way I would ever do that. I guess my main question would be is there a better method? I read many people never clean the barrel saying clean it with a bullet but how do you clean the chamber only with involving the barrel, and many say there dont clean the gun at all....I will always field strip mine and keep the gunk, powder residue cleaned from my slide and lower end as it dosent make sense to me to leave gunk on the slide etc. Note I shoot CMJ, JHP and Bayou bullets with the Bayou bullets I never use bare lead bullets
  12. I read this post this morning before going to a match "shoot slow and do everything else fast" thought about it all the way there and on every stage along with shooting with some very good shooters...scores havent been posted yet so I dont know how much better than normal I did but it sure felt like things meshed way better than normal for me. On several stages it seemed like in my mind "shoot slow and do everything else fast"....beep the buzzer went off...then show clear the stage was over. I just I guess made a plan before the stage and did that plan without thinking. No Im sure I didnt beat the way better shooters but I believe I beat my old self and thats who I really compete against at every match. Back on thread I 100% agree shooting with better shooters does make you better, just like any sport.
  13. After reading posts above and practice today I wonder if shooting steel didnt get me into this habit of looking where I hit the target, as when I shoot steel I sometimes wait for the ting before transitioning. I have been worked on transitioning before I heard the steel ting or saw it move and went into a non thinking mode and just shot I smoked the steel. Im finding the more I just let things happen without thinking (looking for holes, hearing/seeing steel) when I first read someting about this in Brians book I didnt really grasp what he was saying. You guys are a big help and I will work on what is said above, and maybe one day shooting a handgun will be like riding a bicycle, fundamentals then just do it.
  14. Im hoping this will come with experience my makup shot probably cost me almost 2 seconds during hesitation man I need to just rip another shot like you say when sights dont look right...
  15. Ok I,m fairly new to shooting handguns started playing with 3gun March 2010 and found out how badly I shot a handgun, to improve handgun skills I started shooting IDPA and Steel Challenge last summer then tried USPSA first time in March of this year, got hooked on Uspsa and still love 3Gun. I couldnt hit a bull in the butt with a handgun when I started with practice I have improved 500%, I now watch my sights lift and call my shots (most of the time). A fellow experienced shooter on my squad tolto d me a couple of weeks ago that I shoot very well but I needed to trust my sights. Since then thats what I have been concentrating on when shooting I know where my bullets are hitting but I have to look for some reason...even when I know by calling my shot that I had a bad hit I hesitate before making up that shot and still look to see where bullet hit. Will this go away with time or is there something I can do to get over this hurdle.
  16. Thank you for your service to our country, all you guys over there are my heros, stay safe.
  17. I have looked through the Vortex Viper PST wish they had them available when I purchased my 3 gun scope (at 4X's the price)I believe this scope to be the best for the money and then some (around $450.00)....Nikon makes a 1-4 for around $300.00 should be worth checking out if thats your budget I have found Nikons to have pretty nice glass for the money. Have looked through the new Burris 1-4 TAC 30 nice scope ( had problem with Burris customer service in the past )...I would Check out all 3 at least before buying....My vote is for the Viper
  18. Ive bought and sold items on Gunbroker no problems top notch site.
  19. Its easier for me to get over spending the extra money than to have something I "settle" for and trying to make it work by spending more money and time on it and in the end buying what I really want. If you sell it now what will you shoot during the 10-12 month wait on the infinity? Trigger job magwell shoot it...order the Infinity sell the NH just before you get the new Infinity, you will take more of a hit than selling unfired but you will have something to shoot.
  20. It is always good to start a little low, let me restate that load 5.0gr of N320 w/180g MTG at 1.180. Produces about 172pf out of a good 5" gun, like an STI Edge. If you are loading shorter adjust accordingly. You can also get very similar results using WST also at the same OAL and 5.0-5.1 gr. WST is clean however somewhat temp sensative. I just shot a 200 round match with N320 behind 180gr Bayou Bullets, when I tore the gun down tonight it look liked it hadn't even been fired, the moly and leading from shooting Precision Moly bullets was gone, go figure. That N320 is the cleanest stuff and its low recoil, I didn't notice much difference in recoil from my open gun, now thats soft. WST is clean meters well and it comes in 8# jugs, and it cost less than 4#'s of N320, it is a tad more snappy than N320. I do not like TIteGroup, beyond being NASTY DIRTY, and burning searing hot, it is a bit snappy for my tastes. If it works in anything then 9 mm minor w/124gr, isn't bad. IMHO I have won a bunch of it and sold most of it. Loading it in 40 I've popped a few tops and split a few cases, I like my load about 175pf and at that you need to keep an eye on the quality of the brass. May I ask what load you came up with using the 180gr bayou .40 and N320....Im new to these bullets and this powder. I got 2500 bayou 180 gr bullets in the other day and just loaded a few to try out started at 4.0gr titegroup and went to 4.5gr with no pressure signs 1.185 COL 5" barrel STI Executive (Edge). I didnt chrono but these Bayou bullets are pretty impressive (didnt notice difference in smoke over jacketed bullets, clean barrel and hands) as I cant stand the smoke from lead bullets and I dont like moly in my barrel or on my hands. After reading your post and others I decided to try the n320 big price difference over Titegroup. Some say load data powder weight is the same on n320 and titegroup is this correct?
  21. I just started shooting USPSA in March of this year and when I got classified I made C class, since being classified Ive only shot C class in classifiers a couple of times, many times Ive been in D class bottom end of group, but usually shoot at least middle or better of the group on other 4 or 5 stages of the match. I dont do this on purpose its just that classifiers arent like the other stages like Striker said above it would be nice to make classifiers like the rest of the match instead of standing in one positon and shooting. Im no speed demon and I try to shoot all A's but when I get to classifiers its like I have no confidence and stack up no shoots and mikes. What I see in many matches is many people dont shoot classifiers as good as the other stages most seem as frustrated as me when they shoot badly. Im sure the sandbaggers are there too guess I'm maybe to new at this sport to understand why anyone would not want to shoot the match at their best....to me bottom of B class would be better than a win in C class.
  22. I dont know about the G35 but I tried to replace my G17 with a G34, I no longer have the G34 and still have my G17. The G17 just feels better all the way around to me. I have friends that shoot the G17 in Limited minor and do very well with it.
  23. I used Federal primers when shooting my glock with light striker spring never had problem with them firing they were a bit soft and had many that smashed in primer pocket while reloading, I didnt like that but dealt with it for reliabilty using the light stiker spring. In my 2011 guns I use Winchester and CCI primers, Winchester rarely smash the primer (usually when using Winchester brass for some reason) CCI seems to be the hardest of the two as I really dont recall them getting smashed in primer pocket while reloading.
  24. Hey Trey I got the info I needed see you there tomorrow.

    Thanks, Mike

  25. Sean this is a very good idea but one has to be very careful trying out someones gun as it will end up costing you alot of money, because of the money you will spend on guns you cant live without. I am the perfect example of this As usual your post is spot on.
