  1. Yeah I thought the same about the calibration... Rules make the "obvious" consistent
  2. Properly fitted had little to do with slipping and falling into a barricade and knocking them off and them rolling 10 feet down a hill... Would you suggest the shooter hand his firearm to the RO to put the hearing or eye protection back or go to a dump barrel? Oh all of the stages had a 100 second par time and it was easy to time out so "ain't nobody got time for dat" Setting a firearm down safely is still a fire arm on the ground... This seems to be a Very common occurrence in 3 gun. So dropping a gun with out a round in the chamber on the ground is a DQ but setting it down isn't. I can hear a shooter saying I was just putting it down to adjust my poorly fitting ear protection... Calibration isn't tough at all if a target can be engaged with a range of weapons it should be calibrated to fall with factory ammo from the smallest weapon that can be used on the target. Most often this would be factory 9mm or .223
  3. So by what you are saying if targets were set that took a .30 cal hit from a rifle to move them that would be ok because no one has to shoot .223? If a shooter knocks his safety glasses of and continues to wail away on steel that is also ok, cause after all it was his fault. I guess coming from other disciplines that have a more defined rule set makes me think some things are silly. Not wrong or right just different and the things I said I thought were silly. For the record the only one that happened to me was the stage DQ and I fully expected a match DQ because I grounded my rifle which had malfunctioned on the trunk of a car instead of in the barrel 10 feet away so I could engage a target right in front of me. It was a stupid rookie mistake. I learn from every match I shoot. We all have our own opinions that is what makes it fun.
  4. Yes. If somebody intentionally does it, out of here. If you continue on and have no ear pro-you are just stupid. Put your gun down on the ground, on safe, don't move , and put your ear pro on/in, and resume course of fire. I'm gonna go practice put ear pro back in on the clock. Never know. Jade I am pretty sure if you lay your gun on the ground you are getting a stage DQ on safe or not
  5. 1st on a handgun or rifle stage. A competitor shooting handgun shoots a popper and you can clearly see the hit is in the calibration zone. He calls for calibration. RO says he will call but range master is going to shoot it from the closest point with a shotgun. Shooter insists and rm shows up with the shotgun and blasts over the popper... If you can use either firearm in my mind calibration should be with the lightest weapon ... 2) shooter running up hill slips and falls knocking off his hearing protection. RO does not stop him an he continues the stage. At a ULSC he asks for a reshoot. Again they call rm who says since he continued he accepted the fact that hearing protection was not in place and no reshoot... Clearly this isn't uspsa but it seems like both of these decisions should have been handled differently.
  6. you could set the powder funnel to not flare the case as it drops powder and then put the M die in the next station (where the powder check goes) and then seat in the next station and crimp in the last. All you will be losing is the powder check.
  7. where is this deal on the PEPR? I am seeking a mount and was looking the the american defense recon. I have 1 and it works but it is 180 at midway
  8. Ok, so I got one before I relaized that the set screw to lock it is on the back of the block... No way to really deal with this except adjust the gas with the handguard removed...
  9. Way to go Ken! That is solid. I barely squeeked in...
  10. I am kind of new to this but I find all the hash marks confusing... I will just take some holdovers thank you. I sght in at 36 yards... This gives my 0 hold over on 8" plates from 0-250 yards. At 300 I am still only hitting 5.5" low so if I hold at the top of the plate I hit .5 below the center... At 400+ I could start using the 1st hash mark... I don't shoot that well so I just hold over what feels good...
  11. This isn't a seekins block but this is how I dealt with being able to adjust it on a JP
  12. There was a guy at area 6 multi gun that was demoing an adjustable gas block the had an insert that you slid back and forth to adjust the gas. Does abyone know who that was? I had the info on it but I lost it.
  13. I run the TTI spring with the JP buffer. I also run adjustable gas. It is amazing how soft it shoots
  14. 12.5# recoil spring works for most. I use that shooting major If you load to 1.180 you will have to make sure the throat on your barrel is lomg enough for that Any follower that is thin enough to allow an extra round is going to lock back with a round still in the mag. Stock followers will lock the slide when empty but are not going to add a round to the capicity
  15. CR Speed on ELS forks. I had to get bolts and thin nuts from ace hardware
  16. I broke mine in by shooting 30 or 40 rounds just to get everything set up with the LMOS and the scope dialed in and then 120 or so rounds at a 3-gun match... I still have not cleaned it. After reading that GA precision thing I am thinking maybe I should clean it...
  17. We seem to assume that because the staff is working for free the people putting on the match are also working for free.. that is not true. IDPA is probably the worst. Every bit of sponsor money goes toward the match since there is little if any prize table. I would say the match is paid for 100% by sponsor money including the per diem for the staff, if there is any, and all of the staff meals at the range. All of the entry fees are over and above. What do they have , $1000.00 in targets and pasters? If you think these matches are not being run for a profit you are naive... IDPA is a cash cow
  18. The match was an outlaw match but was using all of the rules from USPSA.
