  1. Well, I received my XDM 5.25 40 cal set up for limited from Canyon Creek yesterday and went to the range today. After reading some comments, I was concerned about the recoil difference between my 5.25 9mm, and the 5.25 40 cal. shooting 180 gr major. I was pleasantly surprised at how it shot, it was more recoil than my 9mm, but not bad. Welcome to Limited Class.
  2. Well the biggest problem I see, is that you are drawing with the wrong hand. Your draw looks real good. Try to get the gun just a little higher so your not looking down, almost eye level.
  3. Yikes. My 5.25 is at Canyon Creek to bet set up for limited. Were you shooting factory ammo? Power factor?
  4. So it's the same as the 9.mm?
  5. I would like some feedback from people shooting this gun in Limited. I'm setting mine up now. Thanks
  6. Dont buy anything before your first match. You might not love it. See what the guys who have shot a few matches are using. If you have the money, the ELS system is the way to go. You can add and take off attachments to fit the stage. It's a lot of money, but you only buy it once.
  7. I have to disagree. There is no better optic for close range shooting than a Eotech. 90% of your shots will be under 100 yds. I love watching the scoped guys constantly lifting their heads to find a target. With my 4x magnifier I am pretty accurate out to 300 yards. Remember we are not shooting 1inch groups we are shooting 8 inch plates or 16 inch wide Larues. Just my 2cents.
  8. Why do you have prisoners as ROs? They look very official.
  9. Congratulations. I think you will find the 147gr. Bullets are much nicer to shoot. The holster will hold the gun, that's about it. The blade tech is a great holster. Have fun.
  10. The first problem could be a dirty gun. Make sure the piston can move freely on the shaft and in to the gas port area. I have also had problems with the rod that connects to the back of the bolt. For the second problem, check the cut-off as previously stated. I would also push the small button at the back of the loading port to release the shell, then try to cycle it.
  11. It always amazes me when people say to use cheap shells. There is a reason they are cheap, they are crap. You spend thousands on equipment and your concerned about spending a few extra dollars on quality ammo (AA or similar). How many rounds in a typical 3 Gun match 40 or 50? So we're talking $5 or $6. No trap, skeet or sporting clay shooter would ever shoot cheap ammo at a shoot. That's my opinion.
  12. I'm buying the Remington managed recoil for less than a $1.00 a round. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?contentID=productDetail&prodID=RT20290
  13. The only problem I have with the 16 in barrel is making pf with 55 gr. bullet. Several people at the Nationals had a problem.
  14. The Black Hills Gold out shoots the Hornady in my gun. Test them both. http://www.triadtactical.com/Ammunition/
  15. You will need a modified choke at a minimum. It will be difficult to knock down steel at over 20yds. with anything more open. I would use a Imp Mod or full. Do a little testing, you will need 4s or 6s to be effective. it won't be long before your son will be shooting a 12ga. Have fun.
  16. Here is the link to the Calguns thread. I used the single shot exemption to acquire mine. Where there's a wiill, there's a way. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=383692
  17. Or you could load 15 and rack it 4 times to be really sure.
  18. I have both in 9mm and have swapped them with no issues. Both have trigger work by Powder River. My 2cents.
  19. If I wasn't shooting, I'd love to do it.
  20. I shot sporting clays at a high level for many years. Never, would any serious shooter use low quality ammo in a major match. You spend thousands on equipment and want to save $2.00 on shells? Doesn't make sense. Winchester AA Super Handicap or Remington Nitro.
  21. Does anyone have a way to mount the Tek Lok attachments to the MME shell caddies? Thanks
  22. The length of the stock is a matter of personal preference and shooting style. I shoot thousands of rounds a year, mostly sporting clays and 3 gun. I would try moving the front hand out farther on the forend and try a rubber boot to see if a longer stock helps. I doubt a shorter stock is going to help a big guy.
  23. Exactly what he said, easy to change and identify.
