  1. http://tarheel3gun.com/t3gn/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/2013-book3.pdf There's your match book. Charles has been sending out info for weeks via the google groups distro... Prolly wanna swing by the website and sign up for it.
  2. I found the match to be a solid combination of stand-and-shoots, some moderate movement, and some more physical stages. For someone whose shooting skills aren't on the same level as the Brian Rays and Kurt Millers of the world, I welcomed the opportunity to make up time on the running portions of the stages. Lots of folks complaining about the physical portion of the match, but I would posit that if we want to treat this like a SPORT and not just a game, perhaps we should consider what it takes to be an ATHLETE, not just a casual competitor. I work out every dang day that I'm not at a match, specifically so I can handle my guns more effectively (with my skinny girl arms) and be able to move through the stages quickly without feeling physically crushed at the end of the day. There's more to shooting than just the shooting; it's the thinking; it's the moving. And ALL of that is better when overall physical fitness is higher. Don't get me wrong -- I understand some folks have injuries and whatnot that prevent them from undertaking certain types of physical activity. But as far as I'm concerned, bring on the sprinting!!
  3. Forget BWI. MD gun laws are screwy about mag capacity. Dulles (it's actually in VA) is probably a little closer anyways, and VA gun laws are pretty much anything goes!
  4. Shoulda signed up for amateur based on my (ugly) finishes at last year's matches, but what the heck. Semi-pro it is, and gonna get my butt kicked. Do I get cool points for looking good doing it?
  5. Looking for a little help from my shooting friends. I'm a lefty who recently inherited an STI 2011 that was built for a righty. I'm looking for an ambi mag release (I'd settle for a right-side one), but my searching on Brownell's, Midway, and "da Google" isn't turning up much. To show my ignorance: will a mag release designed for a 1911 work in a 2011? (If yes, then perhaps I've found a few.) Any lefties out there that can help me out? Thanks!
  6. Yea, my app is already in for CMMG. I thought this was going to be in late June. Too bad it can't be a week earlier so the matches don't overlap. Looks like it's going to be a great time! It's also the same weekend as USPSA VA/MD Section Championship. My kingdom for a tele-porter!!
  7. Ok ok ok, twist my arm a little more! Please tell me there are slots left on Saturday? app will go in the mail tomorrow.
  8. Hmm...I wasn't gonna come, but when I heard the theme was Blazing Saddles...
  9. It pays to show up to registration on Friday. Shorter lines, and I'll be there with COOKIES!
  10. Ap3 - Can you please provide more info about this: "Google map to the Peacmaker Range for a 3gun class we are having there" The idea of a 3-gun class (hopefully open for registration?) in close proximity to my house is really exciting to me. Thanks!!
  11. Yes Denise, I was referring to the 3-gun nation running totals that count toward the end-of-season championship shootoff in November. Good call on emailing Chad. Thanks everyone!
  12. Given that I have no tools and no handy skills - can anybody recommend a gunsmith in/around the DC area that can do this? (Plus a few other mods.) Thanks!
  13. So, got a question that I probably already know the answer to...(I'm assuming it's no.) I signed up for amateur (b/c it doesn't get any more amateur than me), but in retrospect now I wonder - will the amateur match count for the 3GN points series? Since Cheaper Than Dirt ponied up to sponsor a women's shootoff at the end of the season, I now have a vested interest in getting some points. Thoughts?
  14. An all ladies team would be awesome! There is only one stage where two shotguns are required. I'm sure there will be plenty of people on the other teams on your squad willing to lend you one for that stage. There is also going to be a rule that everyone on the team must use a shotgun on at least one stage. Everyone will have to use a pistol on at least on stage also, and everyone must use a rifle at least twice. The stages are now available so that you may plan your strategy. Follow this link. Thanks Howard (just saw this). I've asked a couple ladies if they want to play. Here's hoping they come out.
  15. Same location - 3/12/11 *Classifier* Registration 8:00 am - 10:00 am Safety Brief & Match starts at 10:00 am Thanks Steve! And now the tough question: stay in town to shoot the classifier, or go spend my birthday with my family? Your asking ME that question? Hmmm...there will always be more birthdays! when in doubt...celebrate birthday the next weekend!!

  17. Ok, the check is in the mail. Now, all I need is to get classified between now and then...
  18. Buy her a range bag and bring her with you! It works. Ask me how I know.
  19. I'm a relatively skinny chick (my 32" CR Speed belt has plenty of extra overlap), and I've never NOT been able to fit everything I need for all 3 guns on my belt. You should be fine with your 36" belt. For pistol and rifle mags I use BladeTech Teklok pouches. I actually use the double mag pouches for pistol. And for shotgun, I use the 4-round California Competition Works pouches, so I even have to add a couple extras so I can carry all the shells I need. That being said, I certainly agree with everyone who said it's worth having an extra belt so you don't have to constantly reconfigure during the match.
  20. I'm getting no love from the application PDF (and I even just downloaded Adobe Reader X.) A little help, please? Thanks!
