  1. Marvel Unit 1 run on a Limited-10 aluminum 2011 frame built from an 80% paperweight. I have both the Marvel steel and aluminum comps for it. Not sure which I like best, or if I like it with no comp. I run Nelson polymer magazines and they are excellent. Really, going to the double stack frame solved the feeding horrors that I used to have trying to make various single stack conversion mags work. Red dot is a Konus Atomic T-1 clone with 4 MOA dot. The gun itself is completely custom built and weights just under #2 with no magazine or comp. But with a large aluminum magwell. I love it.
  2. I put a Burris Fastfire III on a Gen II G17. Have not shot it in a match yet but it seems to work just fine. I shoot a SPO1 Shadow in Production. That works fine too. Work on your Indian.

  8. I am having a smooth PT steel grip fitted. I have some of the pre-cut 2011 grip tape. I am looking for methods to adhere the tape to the grip so it won't squirm, wrinkle or come loose. The adhesive on the tape is in no way adequate to prevent any of the above in my experience. I shoot in 100-degree heat and the glue on the tape just turns to crap. So, how are you guys getting the tape to stick and stay put?!' Thanks in advance.
  9. I have full ZEV G41. There are pictures of it in the Glock and photo gallery forums. I have both Taran and ARREDONDO basepads. Capacity is not a big disadvantage but the gun is light and recoil is noticeably more than with a 2011 or CZ. Still, the G41 is crazy accurate and it is a very competent limited gun, just not competitive at the top end. The trigger also is not as good as the 2011 or the CZ. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=203365&page=7#entry2329773M Post 168 has a photo.
  10. Yes, that's what I meant. Thank you for clarifying. Good stuff. Thanks.
  11. Awesome info. Thank you. Mine will come in at about 53.5ozs. Sweet.
  12. STI tubes, Gramms springs and followers, TTI basepads. I have six mags set up like this and all six are 20 reloadable and 100 percent. Shooting on DG bay floors I don't even break them down and clean them between stages and I have NEVER had a problem out of them.
  13. cutting off the arm is not a preferred method because it does not signal to a user that the grip safety has been disabled. It looks and functions like it works, when it does not. I prefer and use the pinned method. That way, anyone who picks the gun up as a fair opportunity to realize that the grip safety is non-functioning.
  14. He puts a tungsten sleeve on the barrels. He bores out the hole i the slide so he can put a larger sleeve on the barrels for more weight. The guns shoot stupid flat. Plus, Johnny is incredibly involved in local clubs running uspsa and 3 gun matches in Reno and in Vacaville. He and his son are LEGIT.
  15. The gun is a custom build by CK Dynamix on a Limited-10 steel, railed frame, with Caspian slide, no slide cuts. I also use a steel MSH. The PT grip I ordered is their smooth stainless grip. I plan to have it silica carbide coated like I do with my STI polymer grips because I love the feel of them and they are not as cold to hold in the winter as a bare steel grip.
  16. My 5-inch 40 weighs 41.5ozs with the STI polymer grip and brass Maxwell. I just ordered a steel PT grip. Can anybody ballpark me on what it will weigh?
  17. I shoot a 6-inch bushing gun. Built it because I wanted one. I like it a lot. I have gunsmith doing final tuning on a 5-inch bull barrel gun. I like it too.
  18. If you want a 1911 style .22 for steel challenge, build it on a 2011 frame. The reason is that the magazines for the 2011 frames are far superior. There are just 2-3 companies making them and they are very uniform in design and specifications. There are a lot variations of the old Colt Ace magazines out there as well as newer polymer magazines for the 1911 conversions and the result is FUBAR. The guns do not feed reliably enough for steel challenge. For plinking, sure. For hunting, sure. For Bullseye competition, eeeeeh ... maybe sometimes. For steel challenge absolutely not. I have had built guns on both platforms and I will sell my Marvel and Colt 1911 .22 magazines if you want them. I run a 2011 .22 now and it actually RUNS.
  19. Very nice, v1911. Mine is similar. Aluminum 2011 frame with Marvel Unit 1.
  20. Will you folks post pics of your 2011s in 22 Long Rifle, please? Thanks!
  21. I just finished up my steel challenge gun built on a Limited-10 frame. Just sharing.
  22. Here is a short review of my 2011 Steel Challenge Open Gun that I just completed. Still need to test fire it though, lol. Just sharing. Enjoy.
  23. Thanks everyone. I do appreciate your taking the time to post your pictures. If anyone has a gun in Blue Titanium please post it. I am leaning towards that color for a 5-inch 2011.
