  1. Arg, yet another none CA approved gun, I have little hope of ever buying. But it looks cool and the price is right.
  2. Thanks for the great info everyone. Let's make sure I have this straight. One must pay sales tax on a gun even if it is purchased from an out of state party. Maybe I should have been a little more specific with my question For example if you buy a widget from an out of state party, that is exempt from sales tax because it was purchased out of state then shipped in. No sales tax due, right? But this is not the case with guns?
  3. When buying a used long gun from a private party by going through FFL's, does the buyer have to pay sales tax again? Like when you are buying a used car. I live in southern California for area specific rules. Thanks for the help
  4. If the targets were supposed to look like people, they would have names and faces. But the targets we shoot at are profiles. The best thing about the small head shaped portion at the top of the target is best for creating challenging shots with out have to hand cut, tape, modify targets.
  5. This sounds like a really fun match, certainly one I would like to attend in the future. Maybe if I play my cards right I can make it out there in a couple years. What was the name of the club where this match we held?
  6. Mike S, keep in mind someone had to be the first one off the show, and someone must win it. So if you did your best at the time, then you keep your head held high. Overall for the show, it was well put together and I could even get my wife to watch it. I love the fact that they gave you weapons that most had never shot before, it added a stress factor that most shooters have never experienced before. Which made it a true test for separating the truly gifted marksmen from the rest.

    Legos

That is mind boggling, but I love it!
  8. You scooped something into the bowl.
  9. You went to clean up the water you spilled on the counter
  10. I just got a Ruger 22/45 5.5 heavy barrel for $199.99, and took it out to the river to shoot. I only got to shoot the first mag out of it and my wife wanted to try it, she shot the remaining 323 rounds. She was surprised and disappointed that I only brought one small box of ammo out. Not one malfunction the entire time, easy for her to operate.
  11. I love my dog, here's why labs are great. Watching Top Shot last night, of all shows, Ryley, my dog gets up nudges my leg and goes over and stands at the front door. Which she never does, I ask her whats wrong and she looks at the door. I go outside and there are 3 cop cars across the street at my neighbors house, apparently a domestic disturbance had occurred. It turns out there was no harm done. She knew something was going on that I needed to check on and she was right there at my side to supervise, all 95 pounds of blackness.
  12. I have run a pump gun for sometime now and there are a couple advantages, they are a little easier to load, no loading gate to deal with. I can shoot with the top 20% of the guys at my club, and I have a great time every time. One piece of advice, don't run the gun dry, you lose a lot of time have to put a round in and rack the gun. Iron's on an AR work great out to about 200 yds, after that, it gets tough for use non-superman shooters.
  13. I agree with sarge, Blade Tech makes a good product at a reasonable price. You will pretty much have this stuff trashed once you get good enough to need something better. IMO, Comptac makes great stuff for IDPA, and CR speed is the way to go for USPSA. Springfield also makes a cheap double mag holder they include with their 45's, it works good and is very cheap, it should work with any single stack 45 mag.
  14. I have never shot a major match and feel my skills are ready. What would be a good match to attend that is within 4-5 hours of southern California? Keep in mind I am in this sport to have fun, but would prefer a match where the entry fee is not over $150.00. Any suggestions, any travel sponsors welcome
  15. I agree the Taipei 101 tower is awesome absolutely go. But I disagree about Hong Kong it is very expensive even by western standards. I would also recommend going to the south end of the island, if you can make it. Taichung is a nice area, I would recommend staying at an evergreen suites hotel they have a couple different locations. If you are open to new experiences try going to a budist temple where you can stey the night, it is the most relaxing stress less environment I have ever been in.
  16. EXACTLY and you should buy one. They work great... super quiet. Extra power absorbs more of the recoil impulse. The rifle cycles faster and feels softer with less slamming effect in the buffer tube, especially with a low mass carrier and adjustable gas. I agree, get the JP spring, it's silent.
  17. My daughter just turned 18 months old, and every second I am away from her I miss her. With all of the things I do both at home and work I only get to see her a couple hours a day. So I focus 100% of my efforts to accomplish the task I'm working on as quickly as possible. This is something I did not do before having kids; I do it so I can get home and spend time with her. Truly putting forth your best effort, is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It leaves you exhausted at the end of the day, but I do it because it's the right thing to do. It's what truly makes a person man. So I ask, how many of you out there are men, or just people? I shoot one maybe two local match a month, but during the weekends when I am not shooting, I make the most every moment with my wife and daughter. So I guess what I'm saying is, if you put the effort into being the best father and husband you can be when you are with your family. Then the guilty feelings will go away, and you've become a real man. Hope this helps.
  18. I have personally shot at this basspro, and the guy who was checking the guys was a real ahole if you know what I mean. It is the last place I go to shoot
  19. You brought up a really good subject, and have opened my eyes to the next area of skills I need to work on. I actually do accomplish the first portion of "seeing the target", at least all the way up to pressing the first shot. It's the latter parts of "seeing" where I am going to focus my efforts for the time being. Thank you again for the truly deep insight. MB
  20. Ok, I have been shooting USPSA and IDPA for about a year, and I have been working on my accuracy and trigger discipline and getting good hits with the first shoot. I can say with all honesty I can shoot A's on most targets pretty quickly, even the ones out past 25 yds. My question is, should I start trying to shoot faster while keeping track of my shot placement, or keep working on my accuracy?
  21. Here's my first post on brian enos forums I started shooting IDPA last year and loved it, tried 3 gun about 6 months ago and got hooked. Finished my AR 2 months ago and had a great time at my first local club match. Thanks Brian for setting up a great forum.
