  1. Thank you, yes, keyboard keys have been knowm to mvoe aeound! I don't think anyone is being dishonest. I do think I will start packing my camera and take pictures of my score sheets. It sounds like there is not soomething I am not aware of, just an error on input or my recollection of the stage. Gene
  2. Thanks so far. It was a three magazine stage for me, but I did not miss. My score sheet showed the correct number of hits everywhere, and while they were not all "A's", they were all good hits. I did not follow through the entire stage for the count, but the score sheet said what it should, all the steel, and 18 alpha's and 2 charlies or what ever it was. I guess my question really is, does anyone keep a personal score sheet also (and I assume that is a Yes)? How or what do you do? Does anyone just take a picture of their score sheet on each stage (would that look too wierd or untrusting) with their phone or camera or something? I am not as concerned about winning, but want to know how I compare to other shooters and to see how I progress, and if I am doing something wrong, and I can't figure out what, how do I get better? Yeech. Gene
  3. What the heck is the deal here? I am shooting production, and am a newer shooter, but I went to a match and shot a great stage, time was about a 17, no question there, BUT, I hit all my targets (no misses), did not hit any "no shoots" and I still had a penalty when the scores were posted on the website. I can't figure out why? Now, I am not an old vet to this game, just old, but for the life of me, it seems like this will happen everytime I shoot. So my question is, what am I not seeing or doing or is it just shooting the 9mm they penalize you 10 right off the git-go, or what? I know it is just a local match, but do you guys take a picture of your score sheet after each stage or something so you can see how this stuff plugs into the scoring program or what? Thanks, Gene
  4. Hey, it's not a 1911, it's a 2011, but who cares! I want one. I would like the 4.15 in .40 S&W, but it is really nice to hear how much you like it. I like the VIP too, but that Tactical is WAY COOL! I have a set of Cowboy guns I need to sell before I can get mine, but that is just really awesome to hear. Oh yeah, I think it is state law or something that you have to have two pistols, not one and change the slide. My buddy Donnie Baker said so. Good shooting! wg
  5. You can buy rebuild kits for the "vent" on many brands of these. It is usually an anti-siphon auto drain type assembly. All you can do is take it apart and see, heck, it's broken anyway. Changing the entire faucet can be really easy, or a real pain, it just depends on intsallation. On our house, the ones in the crawl space have come out very easily, and the ones in the finished portion of the basement have been a real pain, and I have actually had to cut a hole in the drywall to get a wrench on the pipe upstream of the valve, so we didn't damage the pipes. I suppose you can try the rebuild kit, if available (go to the place the plumbers buy their supplies, not the Box), try that and if it still doesn't work, you may want to consider a plumber. Sounds like you know not to leave a hose on them in freezing weather any more. Good Luck, WG
  6. Ok, I gotta say it, one more time. I picked up a standard slide lever for my G34, borrowed actually, to try. I went and shot it today. I could not make my gun lock open with it. I had a match yesterday and locked it open three or four times on the classifier alone( I was pissed). Today, I shot the same classifier with my timer in less than half the time, no lockie open. I tried everything to get it to lock open on me. It didn't do it. It cost me big time yesterday, and was on the verge of having me doubt in my ability. Now, I am 100% confident. I will keep working it, but was very pleased with my initial results. Good luck, let us know how things work out for you. Geno
  7. I asked today, and the guy added one out of fiberglass. I didn't hear specifically, but he just said to google "fiberglass beavertail", maybe add "Glock" to that, and it should pop right up. I know it is not an "on-off" deal but does work very well. Don't forget to get some grip tape, and also get rid of the dang extended slide lock lever. Good luck, WG
  8. Yea, I think my wife looked at me as if I was one big project. She did give up on that one, as I am not too trainable, but I did make the mistake of slipping once or twice and "there ya go". Screwed, it was assumed after that point that it was standard required procedure. She finds yard work relaxing. I find it as being work...Yard "WORK"....Excuse ME. Oh well, I do what I am told. But sometimes, when I am doing chores feeding horses, when she is gone, I will feed Sporty with Bruno's bucket, and Bruno with Calvin's Bucket, and Roscoe with Sporty's bucket...You get the picture.. It is those litle moments of silent devience that get me through life... Oh well, been married a long damned time, and I'm HAPPY, sometimes. 25 years this September. WG
  9. I know some guys that made their own beaver tail out of some sort of epoxy or something. I can find out more tomorrow if I remember to ask, and if you are interested. It looks kind of funny, but was very functional. Gene
  10. OK, Regional Cowboy Match. It is a simple Speed shoot. 3 Guns, fastest one to empty them wins. Man on Man format type shoot. The buzzer goes off, I fly through my rifle, pick up my shotgun and speed through that, I look over and the other guy is just finishing his shotgun, I WON! THEN, he draws his pistol, I look up and DANG, I forgot my pistol targets! I draw and shoot, and the stop plate goes down a fraction of a second behind his. He wins the speed match for the reigon, I feel like a pile of moldy poo. Lesson learned, no matter what the game, don't forget any targets. Don't pay attention to how you've done untill AFTER the stage is complete. Shoot the stage, the only thing that matters is the next shot, and make sure you know what that is. Your Idiot Pal, Gene
  11. Newbie here. Not new to shooting, I am a certified RO in another shooting sport, and anyone offended by a gentle reminder of the proper procedure is either a jerk or a jerk. If you don't see clear, and just assume it is, and something happens, it is your @$$ on the line too. If they don't get that, then it doesn't matter what they think. I mean who cares, they're a jerk. Gene
  12. Did You Know This About Leather Dresses? Do you know that when a woman wears a leather dress, a man's heart beats quicker, his throat gets dry, he gets weak in the knees, and he begins to think irrationally??? Ever wonder why? It's because she smells like a new Pick-up!
  13. I guess it would be more like assault and buttery?
  14. I am sick of egg salad. Don't get me wrong, I like Egg Salad, it's just that now I Hate Egg Salad. Ya boil two dozen eggs, you can't throw them out, what can you do? Egg Salad anyone?. I am sick of Egg Salad right now. I hate the way it has red, yellow, blue and green in it. I hate the way it smells, and the way our house smells between me and a teenage boy (although it takes "cropdusting" at the local Wal-Mart to a whole new level) . I hate the way that you are in the shower, and you're just finishing up, all clean, and then you have the Egg Salad revenge hit you and what the heck, well, you're in the steam of the shower, and the gas mixes with the steam, and forms "fartic acid" and then gets all over you and you smell like the sulpher pots at Yellowstone National Park for the rest of the day. The first two days are ok, but you can only blame so much on the dog. I hate post Easter Egg Salad.... Thanks for "letting me vent" (pun intended) . Gene
  15. Thank you for the great forum.

  16. Amen brother Flexmoney! I really like your way with words! On another serious note. At practice, I never had a problem, but go to my first match and SHAZAM! The magic happens and I locked my slide open two or three times on my first stage alone. All the guys came up to me and commented about how well I did to clear my gun so many times and still have a good time and only one non-A hit, it was a C. They all also reccommmendedd to do like they all did and put the standard slide release on my pistol. Gene
  17. I had to, the reduced power guide rod spring couldn't jam the rounds into the chamber anymore! WG
  18. NOW THAT'S FUNNY! I wouldn't say I am "giddy", just a bit obsessed...LOL! When I did finally clean the Glock, not just work on it, I had several hundred rounds through it (500+) then only did it because it was too windy and rainy outside to want to work (hayseed farmer/rancher here). I mean it is a tool. It's not like it was a Colt or anything...Baahaaa...LOL! Gene
  19. I am with Duane on this one. I have big paws, and am quite often hitting the big release, causing my slide to lock open on me. If you want one, lets do a trade. I will send you my extended release, and you can send your standard release. WG
  20. Thank you, and yes, I am obsessed....I fall asleep shooting stages....I have a G34 that I can tear completely down....I have polished its insides, bought a comp trigger, and even played with the comp trigger, not to mention the grip tape and the steel guide rod with 13# spring, reduced power striker and safety plunger springs for my production gun (LOL, not that it is really production anymore, but is well within the rules)....I have a box of paper targets and built stands and about 10-15 hanging steel plates, a 5 plate (actually cowboys) KD rack, a couple pepper poppers....AND have already decided on an Limited class gun and can't wait till I get it....I have piles of 9mm, and will soon start hording .40S&W....Oh Yea, I am obsessed. Thanks for the welcome, and thank you for the reply. Gene
  21. Yes it is addicting, I think maybe drugs would be cheaper! Gene
  22. Howdy all. Ok, I get the idea of the "Hit Factor" (speed, power, accuracy), and on a given stage the highest score gets 100% of the points, then it is done by percentages of the highest hit factor after that on each stage, BUT, what I am not sure of is how classification comes into play. Is it merely ranking a B class shooter against other B class shooters? Or does it give them a "handicap" that allows for the shooters skill level, and gives them a numerical advantage enabling them to compete against a shooter of a higher classification, like a golf handicap (btw, I think golf is a dumb game, and yes I suck at it)? Thank you, and pardon my ignorance. Best Wishes. Wild Gene
  23. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother one year ago this April 6th. She passed form acute leukimia. She was tested on Monday, diagnosed on Friday and chemo started that same day, and she passed Sunday. This was sent to me from a fellow archery guy. I keep it in my phone and read it for comfort. ------------ Hi Gene, I just saw the thread that your mother passed away. I'm sorry for your loss and I understand what you are feeling. My mother passed away with acute lukemia 18 years ago. It started with pneumonia. Long story short....she was in the hospital 6 months and was only allowed to leave for 2 weeks during Thanksgiving that year. Exactly 6 months to the day she entered the hospital , she died. It was torture on all of us that she was a prisoner and not allowed to leave her hospital room for so long. It affected her mind and body in a terrible way. I guess what I'm saying is that in a way , you and her were blessed that she did not suffer long. I hope that came out o.k.? It's a very hard thing for me to talk about. She was only 56 years old. I will remember you and her in my prayers. God Bless, Geno ----------------- I hope this was appropriate, and you understand my intent that she is no longer suffering, and is in a better place. God Bless, WG
  24. Thank you so far. My Cowboy guns were always 4-3/4" or 4.6", depending on the maker, version. I wanted to add this, in general would I be better staying with which ever is similar in length to the G34? I am not adverse to either length other than I want something that is going to "fit in", or should I say is in the norm, Ya know what I mean? Quality but not "Flashy". Anyway, I don't want to be showing up at the woodwind quartet with the susaphone..LOL!!...That is what being a Gary Larsen "FarSide" fan does to you... I know I need to feel both, but sometimes my initial impressions are 180 from what is really best for the game. My best example is my initial set of Cowboy action revolvers. They were Bislye models, mainly because I have big hands, but they turned out being the worst choice I could have made. Thanks, Gene
  25. That is going to be very interesting! I can't wait. WG
