  1. +1, along with Brian's book and self-study of GM's technique
  2. You get a lot of bang for your buck with a Green Mountain barrel.
  3. Reading this now. I have no interest in diving at all but can't put this book down, it's a combination mystery/thriller. I highly recommend it. Shadow Divers
  4. I use Tripp mags for my singlestacks, and yes, they offer a 10 round 40 mag: http://www.trippresearch.com/store/store_1911.html
  5. Thanks for the warning...I actually have a bad knee that I need to be careful with.
  6. Between family and work I have little spare time, but I do go for a jog once or twice a week. I've wanted to do some agility drills, but still don't have an agility ladder, so I thought maybe there's some agility drills I can incorporate into my 2 mile jog. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks for all the replies. I went with the SS feed lip mags and am awaiting their arrival
  8. I appreciate all the responses, and I'm relieved to know I don't have to ship the 1050 to AZ, Canuck nailed it: the case feed plunger bolt is bent.
  9. I have a JP 22 upper on the way, and was wondering which Black Dog Machine mags you guys recommend...I thought I read somewhere to get the ones with stainless steel feed lips (10 or 26 round), is that your experience? Do the 26 round mags work well? Here's a link to the mags: Mags
  10. My Super 1050 abruptly has a lot of resistance about halfway down on the downstroke. Sometimes it's so bad I need to get two hands on the handle to continue the downstroke. This is a new thing, it didn't used to do this. I can run it without any cases on the shellplate and it still does it. I took off the toolhead and when I operate the handle everything works smoothly. The guide rods on the toolhead apear to be lining up just fine with the holes through the shellplate, and nothing is in their way. Any ideas?
  11. Nope, it was done up by TTI. But yeah, it looks just like a Brazos...
  12. I was getting ready for the VA/MD Section match, which I shoot tomorrow, and I noticed my slide is cracked. It's an STI slide, nothing but major loads shot through it, approximately 25k rounds on it. The gun has a bull barrel. Do you think this is repairable? I'm assuming STI would not replace it, correct?
  13. I tried WST and like it....low SD's, very accurate and the powder is cheap. My load is 3.9 grains of WST loaded to 1.135", S&S 220, WSR primer. Launched out of a Schuemann 5" barrel it's giving me 172 PF. Thanks for the help.
  14. Ok, here's the story. Planning a 3 or 4 day vacation with just the wife this summer, and we are thinking it'll be VT/NH, with possibly a trip up to Montreal. When we travel I like to see something gun related, for instance we recently returned from NYC and while there we stopped into Holland & Holland's showroom, which was very cool. So I'm thinking a nice gun showroom, gun museum, or a particularly interesting gun shop. I will not be traveling with my competition guns, so matches are ruled out. Any suggestions?
  15. Steve, I love Refinement & Repetition, I really feel like it took me far in 2005/2006 before life changing events caused me to take a hiatus from serious competition. I'm now working my way back up, and have always wondered why in some of your drills you do not want the trigger to be pressed? Is this to save time? Or wear on the gun?
  16. I double plug, but recently switched from the yellow foam plugs to Surefire plugs. I feel like the Surefire's are much more comfortable for long matches, but the yellow foam ones seemed to offer a lot more protection. Does anyone have the answer to which plugs offer a good combination of protection and comfort?
  17. Good info, thanks. It seems odd to me that they're shifting to a slower powder...makes me wonder if they had pressure problems.
  18. 1.135" No, the grease ring is not visible. You got me on the third question...it's been a long time since I've shot 180's.
  19. I had way more issues with pressure when shooting 175's and 180's with VV. In fact I've had zero pressure signs with the 220's, through a few different guns, and my brass lasts way longer. I don't think it has anything to do with bravery...
  20. 40 out of a Limited gun. My old powder was Russian Salut. I've had no safety issues at all, very low pressure load. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52872
  21. I LOVE S&S Casting's 220 gr lead bullet, but the powder I've been using for the past 50k rounds is no longer available in the US, and I'm almost out. Gone are my days of super competitiveness (new word!) so I'm not looking for the ragged-edge-of-safety fastest powder for these bullets, rather I was hoping for an economical and clean powder that's slow enough to allow for a decent margin of safety. I was thinking of IMR 7625, but would welcome a better option. Suggestions?
  22. I have "average" sized hands too and have relief cut grips on all my singestacks now, it makes it difference for me.
  23. That's good to know, thanks. I run Safariland's, but haven't been 100% happy with them.
