  1. I've always liked Mark Wahlberg. Love the show Entourage.
  2. While shooting at speed, I have never consciously recognized the reset point of a trigger.
  3. Coordination, accuracy, agility, and balance are primarily neurologically controlled. It could be argued that this happens both with fine motor and gross motor control, and a deficiency in any area (whether fine or gross) will have negative effects on your performance.
  4. For me, efficiency of movement is not only economy of motion, but also having as few velocity changes as possible. I don't necessarily think one is faster than the other, I just tend to be more consistent that way.
  5. Be careful with that one...I listened to my doctor after knee surgery and had knee pain for 5 years. Then I did what he specifically told me not to do and my knee pain was gone inside of 1 month. Great orthopedic surgeon....great exercise physiologist? Not so much.
  6. Basically the idea behind POSE is running how your body was mechanically designed to run. For example, if you were running bare foot (since as far as I know shoes weren't factored into our genome) and you were heel striking - you wouldn't be doing it for long. Go to Crossfit.com and check out some of their demo's when it comes to the Endurance certs and anything Brian Mackenzie has to offer.
  7. The funniest thing is people look for instruction for everything under the sun - but everyone just assumes they know how to run correctly. Running is a technical skill - just like shooting as a matter of fact.
  8. No you didn't offend me at all, I just wanted to make sure we were understanding each other correctly.
  9. I don't see where you disagree with me at all? I never said buy them and run a shitload of miles in them right off the bat. I can tell you with certainty (with facts to back it up) that heel striking with padded shoes cause more injuries than just about anything else. Like anything, you need to start slow and ramp up the intensity with time.
  10. I would check into POSE running if I were you. I wouldn't run in anything other than Nike Frees (or an equivalent). The less padding you have, the better off you'll be.
  11. If you ever have to lift something in real life that's a great way to ensure failure and a serious gap in your available work capacity.
  12. Ben, You won't see how until you actually do it. Yes...it works like that. Besides, who gives a shit if you can better discuss it or not...all I know is shooting open for a year will make you a better shooter. I've been telling you that for quite some time now.
  13. I can promise you he wasn't more consistent because of his slower splits. That isn't necessarily a good thing. In my opinion, shooting with a cadence at all times is often an indicator of expectation more than visual awareness.
  14. Slow = Slow Smooth = Fast Patient = Consistent
  15. *Air five Shannon Sure....if you don't like your skin.
  16. He still has that gym, and his son Casey was an alternate on the olympic team last year. Now he favors the shirt, "Nothing feels quite like a good snatch."
  17. Yessir, he handles the O-lifting certifications....and does a damn good job from what I'm told and videos I've seen.
  18. I've thought about trying progrip, but man you will seriously tear some calluses with that with any real volume. I have been planning on grabbing a stud bar soon though.
  19. Awesome...Greg Everett and crew definitely know their shit. I wanna hit one of Burgener's O-Lifting certs real bad.
  20. An interesting point behind that...I remember Tony Budding telling a story at my cert about when Coach has Jeff Martone and Greg Amundson do a few wods. The first one was a KB specific wod, and Jeff beat Greg by a little bit. They did others after that, and Greg absolutely crushed Jeff in just about anything that wasn't KB specific. Kind of reinforces the point about work capacity across broad time and modal domains.
  21. CF does utilize some of the KB stuff, but largely, you are limited in the amount of fitness you can attain with it simply because you can't generate power as effectively as some of the other functional movements. As supplemental exercises though, they are fantastic.
  22. I'm doin what I can with what I got. Jeff, feel free to bring a copy of EZWS with you next time you come to the range.
  23. It's no difference at all if you aim. Sure, the open gun is easier to shoot, but as long as you exercise good visual patience, you will be just fine.
  24. JK, So you think holstering a hot gun on the clock is safer than just keeping it pointed down range with your finger off the trigger?!??
