  1. Insanity! This is the journal I love visiting most when I need some heavy inspiration.
  2. Good to hear! This was a real head scratcher for me. The hardest problems always seem to come from the most easily overlooked items, don't they?
  3. I am hesitant to say, but I think it was a combo of the bullet profile and my arm swinging around wildly during recoil. Limp arming? With my reloads and same bullet profile (loaded much longer), I have not had any issues. Berry's flat point round nose are what I am using, I get them for the same price per thousand as cast lead. Even though I had zero issues with 4k factory rounds, they did not feed entirely smoothly. My reloads zip right into the chamber.
  4. Today I was actually able to make it to the range with my Lee Hand Press and chronograph. I ended up with a 170 PF average at 5.2 grains of WST loaded to 1.20. I only shot about five but they did feel nice and soft. Next I will be loading up several hundred for sighting in / accuracy. I'm glad I went out and tested several OALs too. Apparently my gun either likes factory length or loaded really long. 1.18 created a jam-o-matic and 1.20-1.21 fed about as well as my 1911 with ball. I did manage a few loads with Clays, but the effort was cut short when the primers started flattening out at around 150 PF. There was no way I was making major PF with Clays, Berrys 180, and my gun. Maybe with moly coated bullets, but I just don't see it with plated bullets. I get Berry's for cheaper than moly, which is why I shoot them. In the future if I can pick up a pound of Solo I will try it head to head with WST and post back.

    FGW 5.5

Looks like one heck of a flat shooter.
  6. My dad has a comp'd .45 1911 from the early 90s. That used to be the ticket! The compensator works well, but is nothing compared to 9/38 setups right now.
  7. Well I just bit the bullet and ordered up 8lbs of WST. No local supplier currently has WST, Solo, or VV. When the local shops have some Solo, I will buy a pound of that and be able to compare the three. Eventually I should buy some n320 I guess...maybe that will wait until I can actually shoot a big match.
  8. got the same advice and followed it. Can only recommend it. If you are actually loading faster I dont know. In my opinion it has the potential to go faster but it depends on you and I could not say how much faster but just the fact that loading is much easier and less wearing makes it worth while Good points. I will order up the shorter handle for a side by side. Hopefully I can get a review up...and some video for comparison
  9. I have a Lee Bulge Buster and FCD. Together they work great! I am not sure what the Redding GRX really has on the Lee, then again I have never tried it.
  10. I found a local shop that seems promising. Hopefully I can pick some powder up today or tomorrow.
  11. After installing the regular handle, I do find the throw easier on my hands/wrists but for some reason the throw feels longer. I might pick up the short one and give my dad the regular ergo if he wants it.
  12. Just straight loading I can do about 600-700 per hour, no feeders of any kind. Good lighting, good rhythm, a comfortable position, and some good music I just bought a LNL bullet feeder, case feeder, ergo roller handle, and pistol micrometer. I'm ready to step it up!
  13. That's for sure. I was planning on some careful trials this weekend. I hear nothing but good things about n320, but at twice the price of other powders and being force to go online to purchase some it is really not appealing to me.
  14. I'll be picking up some powder and primers tomorrow for my Bar Sto 40. So far I have been shooting factory and it is getting $$$$. I have Clays and Universal for my .45 and I know people have been making Clays work when loaded long for the 2011s. The plan right now is just to buy a big keg of powder and stick to it. On this board I read Clays as a fairly unspoken but popular powder choice. Of course Solo 1000 and WST are mentioned everywhere. Out of these three, which way should I go? I know the differences probably won't add up to much between the three. Has anybody here shot all 3? Or have direct comparisons?
  15. Jameson for me too. I'm more of a rum person these days though. Kraken and Capt Morgan private stock! I admit, not classy, but delicious and cheap.
  16. I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I had the same pins walking out on my G35. I found out that there was a "sweet spot" of sorts were the pins wouldn't move at all. Any deviation and they would walk out on me. I remember pushing them in during a match once.
  17. Are you shooting an SVI now? I still envy that FGW worked P16!

  18. I have a DVD from Bar Sto about their barrels. This pretty much summed up what Irv says about the process. He grabbed a barrel and installed one inside of a Glock, I believe 5-10 swipes with a file and he was done. The fit looked incredibly tight.
  19. There was a great video of a Salient Glock dustcover flexing all over the place from Top Shot. Start around 1:50.I have the 6.7 oz magwell on my G35, it does help but honestly I feel like it really needs more weight up front. I have a stainless guide rod with a 15 lb recoil spring.
  20. Welcome neighbor! Where about are you?
  21. 3 shadows? Nibore and DLC? I love your style. Good luck! I have had nothing but a positive response to getting my gun coated in nickel boron.
  22. While I don't have a CZ, my STI (in my avatar above) has been coated in Nickel Boron. It cycles buttery smooth and fast when dry. Residue wipes right off of it too. I did not get my hammer or sear coated, but I noticed it feels like the disconnector and hammer (coated strut, and cap) are much more responsive with the slick coating. My extractor claw stays clean too I'm glad you like it, what other parts are coated?
  23. I use arredondo and won't go any other way. After being dropped a ton they still look great.
