  1. Jim, she rips awesome. No problems whatsoever and super impressed. I can never go back to a stock trigger! Thanks for the encouragement!
  2. Finished up the install tonight and I have to say it is the best trigger I have every felt in an AR. I did end up fitting the stock safety to it, but I took my time, probably installed and removed the safety and trigger two dozen times before getting it to where I wanted it but there is NO trigger movement with the safety on. Can't wait till to shoot it tomorrow!
  3. Did that the other night with some habeneros and jalapenos, cut em up to throw in a chicken dish, then went and took out my contacts for the night like a hour later. Duh.
  4. You could get a surefire forend if you wanted...or you could put pretty stickers on the forend of the M2 and maybe it'll look prettier.
  5. I was working at the shop and a nice enough guy comes in and we get to talking about concealed carry guns and he says,"Well this is what I carry." and instead of telling me, he draws his Glock 27 from under his jacket , points it at the floor, attempts to unload it by racking the slide but he is having difficulty because he doesn't have the hand strength. He hasn't dropped the mag yet either so of course if he does succeed, he'll just chamber a new round. In his struggle to get the slide back, HE SWINGS THE GUN UP AND POINTS IT AT MY CHEST. I stepped aside quickly while pushing the gun away from me, and him, realizing his "social fopa" as he referred to it later, says,"Oops, sorry." and points it back at the floor. I separated idiot from gun, and told him calmly after I unloaded it for him, that he could have his gun back but that I was hanging on to his ammo and mag until he was ready to leave the store. He apoligized but needless to say I was shaking even after he left. I know what your stupid baby Glock looks like! Please leave it in your holster and keep it concealed! Did you ever wonder why they call it a CONCEALED Carry Weapons permit??? Lets keep it that way!
  6. Well then, SWEET! Thanks for the info guys, I was half temped to send it to JP and probably will when the AR build bug strikes again, but I learned a ton about triggers doing this one myself. Now I can't wait to get home and finish up the install!
  7. Not a new concept at all, the same idea has been put on shotguns for a while, which makes sense for turkey or deer hunting with a tight load of shot or a rifled slug but for competitive handgun shooting or a tactical application? I don't like it. Just seems like an answer to a question that was never asked.
  8. I will never again shoot a 12 ga. flare and then on seeing the metal capsule fall back to earth that had just finished burning at 1000+ degrees, run over gleefully and pick it up. I will never again shoot at a turkey with a 3.5" 12ga. and my shoulder pressed against a tree. I will never again check if the batteries are still good in my Surefire flashlight by looking directly at the lens and pressing the button.
  9. So I bought the JP Tactical Fire Control Kit from a buddy who won it. I originally wanted to get a Chip but after doing a quick search, I had a hard time finding a bad review. I put it in and have the set screws adjusted to where they should be and everything seems to be working fine. Even went outside with 3 rounds loaded at a time and no doubling, no fire on release. Big question is, there is almost no overtravel on this thing, or at least not anywhere close to the DPMS single stage I had in there before. Is this ok? Is this normal? I did a search and came up with nothing about the JP overtravel on here. If this is, then the JP trigger really is that awesome. Another question, should I try and fit the stock safety into the receiver or should I spring for the JP one? Is it worth it?
  10. Another thing to keep in mind, if you're shooting an autoloader (which you probably are), keeping the load to the minimum while still being reliable would be a good idea. At my first three gun shoot, I borrowed my friend's M2 Tactical and having no idea how many shots we were going to be firing that day, brought along a whole bunch of Winchester 3" High Brass Game Loads. Just plain stupid and the first stage was a shotgun hoser stage with birds.
  11. The general consensus from what I've heard is that in the AR, the heavier the bullet, the higher rate of twist desired. So for shooting 60+ grain bullets, a 1 in 7 twist and your standard 1 in 9 (most common) the lighter 50 to 55 grain bullets perform better. Just my .02.
  12. Be warned on getting a 1911! Once you get one, they multiply in your safe while you're sleeping! I thought on my first PISTOL forever, and after picking up a Kimber Custom II one day, I decided that's what I would get. A year later, after changing my mind a million and one times, I stuck with what I had originally decided on, a Kimber Custom II (actually the Custom Target II so I got the adjustable LPA sights) and don't think for the money that I could have made a better choice. The thing with the Kimber pistols is that after getting past the Custom Target II in their model line up, you are basically paying for cosmetic improvements. The fit, accuracy, trigger quality, and the internals basically stay the same until you step up to the custom shop guns. But for a first 1911 for the money, IMO the Custom II is the ticket.
  13. I would be all for disabling it, personally I think the lock is stupid, we already have trigger locks and safes for the same reason. The only reason I wouldn't is that if you ever had to use the gun in a defense situation, that some lawyer might bring up the issue that I was "disabling the gun's safety systems".
  14. These are about the same price as the tactical innovations mags (they are awesome) but you can hold 25 more rounds. I've owned one and can't say I've had any problems. http://www.midwayusa.com:80/viewProduct/?productNumber=488524&t=11082005
  15. If you want, you could dip the very bottom of the base pads with that Plasti Dip stuff, like the handles on tools such as pliers and wire cutters are covered with. But wouldn't putting anything on the bottom that is covering the entire bottom of the base pad get in the way of removal in order to clean the mag out if it takes a mud bath at an outdoor match?
  16. You can leave the lock in the gun (speaking on the S&W revolvers) and grind off the cam on the lock. There is a tutorial on the subject on YouTube but not only is there the question of whether or not it will violate the IDPA rules, but if this is your carry gun as well, I wouldn't be doing any mods to safety features at all.
  17. I don't know if these would be legal for competition but a friend has these on his 1911, and they have the different inserts: Here they are: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=48514/s..._Grip_Kit__9_Pc
  18. I know one guy I shot 3 gun with a guy this last summer who did his Remington 870 in some blue duracoat and then Rhino lined the stock and forearm, it was pretty cool.
  19. If you like the sight and don't plan on changing it out soon, just epoxy it in place. Had my Dawson go airborne out of my slide at a match, epoxied it in place and haven't had a problem since, even with gun scrubber.
  20. When your gf/wife/friend/whoever is driving and you find yourself in the passenger seat doing double taps on road signs by pointing your fingers at them and saying,"Pop! Pop!" really fast.
  21. Depending on how old it is (I'm not sure how old of 870 we are talking about), once you remove the magazine cap, the little metal cup that sits in there is just held there by press fit and by carefully working around the inside edge of it with a screwdriver, it should just pop out then you can install the new extended mag tube spring along with the extended mag tube. Careful though removing the magazine cap though, keep that pointed away from your face; more than one 870 that I have pulled apart has been missing the metal spring retaining cup and the spring just shoots out of the mag tube.
  22. I've been lurking on the forums here for awhile but first time posting so...Hi! I bought the CMMG this last year and the only issue I had while using it in my RRA Upper with Spikes lower was the ammo I was using. When I first got it before I had even shot it I was told that it likes to eat cheap Wally World .22 ammo. I went and got a big box of Federal Bulk Pack and I have never had a hitch while shooting that ammo other than dud rounds. No FTE's, no FTF's, no light strikes. I really like mine and like that the gun stays set up the same way as if I was shooting regular .223 ammo. Way less expensive than getting a whole new upper as well. Just my .02
