  1. Oh No... You misunderstand. I am deeply releaved to find you are NOT the guy running across that bay holding that... abomination.... IIRC from looking at the results, he shot Singlestack Division.
  2. I'll have to get you to autograph my magazine. Since you're famous now and everything.
  3. No. He is a shooter, but not that shooter. He's the RO in the pic.
  4. He's the guy with the timer who looks like he has no chance of keeping up with that shooter. Pic from Double Tap.
  5. I've had the magazine for a couple of days and didn't notice until this morning, our own Jammer1911 is on the cover of Front Sight.

  7. There's a big part of my problem. I have no schedule. I've been working 70-80 hours per week. I come home and get something to eat while I'm checking email, facebook, benos, and maybe glancing at a musical instrument forum I supposedly moderate. Then I go to bed, get up go to work and do it over again. Called in sick today. Going to the range might be a stretch. (Even if I felt up to it. Hey, I can see being too sick to work but not too sick to shoot, but the boss probably wouldn't understand.) But I am going to get some dry fire in today.
  8. That makes sense, kinda. I always pull the trigger on draw drills. It sort of completes it. I'm not just trying to get the click before the beep, although the click does help me define whether or not I finished before the beep. When the trigger breaks, I evaluate whether or not I was actually on target. "Yeah, got that." or "Nope, that sucked." or "Mmmm, that was kinda questionable." If I was not ON the target when the shot broke, then I DID NOT beat the par time. I'm gonna try it Steve's way without pulling the trigger and see what happens. I just got his book the other day and haven't started it yet.
  9. Welcome! I didn't know that. It's the one Saturday of the month when I couldn't find a match. So of course it's the one Saturday of the month I frequently get off work.
  10. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. You're bringing the gun up to chest level and then straight out. Try putting your support hand on your belly and meeting the gun there. That will give you more time to establish the grip with the weak hand and also allow the gun to take a more diagonal path to the shooting position. Bring it up to the line of sight about 3-6 inches short of where it'll be when you shoot, then punch it straight out the last 3-6 in.
  11. The Dawsons may be slightly easier to load but are often nearly impossible to unload. The tubes on the Dawsons are slightly longer than those on the Tripps. (Thicker basepad on the Tripps to make them the same length over all.) I don't know that it matters a bit. Dawson on left, Tripp on right, both with Dawson basepads. They both run just fine in my gun.
  12. The reason I shoot a 1911 is because I like the thin grip. This looks like the worst of both worlds, fat grip with low capacity.
  13. Dawson and Tripp are what I've been using in my 9mm 1911. I bought some of each in case the gun didn't like one or the other. They both run great though.
  14. I killed three no-shoots today.
  15. I thought he said he was getting one for revo, but it wasn't ready yet and would be sent later. Or was that something else?
  16. I had that for a while. There's a "Compatability View" icon to the right of my address bar in my browser. Clicked that and have had no more problems.
  17. I was going to post "Well, in Brian's book, he says . . . " but I see he's already been here and said basically the same thing.
  18. Just upgraded a couple months ago from leather gear to CR Speed belt, CR Speed pouches, with Power Factor spacers for Singlestack, and Comp-Tac Belt Holster. Why? Seemed like the thing to do at the time. I changed guns, belts, caliber, new range bag, new shirt. Pretty much everything is new except my shoes and sox -- and they're next.
  19. I used to have this NAA Pug .22 Mag with tritium front sight. Wish I still had it. Might get another. Only revolver I've ever owned. I have smallish hands: 7 yards measured (best of two groups, but the other wasn't much worse):
  20. I just ordered Steve's book through Brian's site. Something I've been meaning to get for a while.
  21. You might have to buy your own chrono. I'm about to get one. People who are happy to let you shoot their guns seem to be reluctant to let you use their chronos. The saying around here is that there are two kinds of chronographs, those that have been shot and those that are gonna get shot. They don't want you shooting their chronos.
  22. I'll see you there! Who else is in? They're talking about cancelling this match due to lack of entries I know there are a few 1911 enthusiasts in the SSES Club who would enjoy this match.
