  1. jid2 - Can we expect units to be available in time for Christmas?
  2. That's my preferred bullet as well and I haven't seen any in stock since Dec 2012. I've noticed most of the other types are regularly in stock here lately and hoping they start stocking 115 CMJ soon.
  3. The website I saw this on did mention that the mod improved accuracy along with cycle time, but I wasn't sure exactly how it could improve accuracy. Interesting to find out there is some history behind it. I know on my 2011 the slide does hit the disconnecter kind of like a speed bump.
  4. Been there, done that with the C-more on my open gun. Glad you figured it out;)
  5. I went through this earlier in the year...trying to go "Master" fast and racking up Misses/Penalties (i.e, not enough visual patience). After getting a bit frustrated, I decided to focus more on accuracy instead of how fast I could shoot. For the first time ever, I shot a major match with no misses or penalties and it felt great! If you are searching for consistency in match performance, I suggest starting with accuracy and getting all the points you can get as a way to relieve your expectations of performing at the "Master" level. You may be surprised at how well you will place and more importantly how good you will feel about it.
  6. I saw this on another website. It's suppose to improve cycle time. Anybody have experience with it?
  7. jid2 - Can you give us some status on any endurance testing you've been doing? Is it holding zero? Battery life? Anything getting loose? Etc.?
  8. The Dawson mag tuning kit addresses this. The mag can be squeezed in a vise until the front to back measures a bit under 1 3/8". I don't remember the exact number Dave recommended, but work slowly and test as you go until the mag falls out like butter. I did this to my mags a few years ago and it made a big difference. The mags are mass produced and the tolerances are fairly sloppy.
  9. Neither are STI Steel and Match Master's
  10. No changes for major or minor. I use a light recoilmaster and an STI extractor. Made Master with that setup.
  11. Been wanting to try a green dot for a long time. Offering both red and green would be the ticket! Will your design be able to support various MOA options? Would be nice if MOA could be adjusted depending on ambient light and stage conditions. BTW, I download the pics when you first posted. I drool over them...can't wait;)
  12. There's a thread or two on this comparing different cleaning methods. I use lime-a-way on a Qtip.
  13. Wheely? Wheelweight, actually. A lot of them are still made out of lead, although there are some that are aluminum, steel, or zinc. Unfortunately the big nationwide tire franchise stores are contracted out to recyclers already. That leaves the small mom and pop shops. It's work, but the guys over at the cast boolits forum are about to perfect powder coating (yes, like the baked on finish on your washer and dryer). One guy is pushing a powder coated cast lead boolit above 3,000 fps out of his .223. So would that eliminate the need for lube (wax) on the lead bullets?
  14. Go for it! Also, recommend designing something for the AR platform as well. That would be icing on the cake;) I can see these things coming in some cool colors/paint jobs too! Please hurry...
  15. You should probably file for a provisional patent ASAP. You can use a patent agent vs patent attorney to save some $. That will give you 1 year of protection assuming you are first to file. A possible issue is that once an idea is in the public domain (i.e., posted on a forum like this one) prior to the patent being awarded or at least under the provisional status, your patent may not be defendable in court. But, I'm not an expert on patent laws. I have been through the process a few times and sometimes I sleep at the Holiday Inn. A patent is only as good as your ability to defend it (i.e., it takes a lot of $ to sue a lot of people). If you can get the provisional filed, then I would immediately try to license it to somebody and get the market flooded before someone else builds a copy or even a better version. Also, you may want to explorer the design patent vs the utility patent route. It just occured to me, but you should probably do a search on existing patents. You may actually be infringing on someone else's patent without knowing it. In fact, I remember the patent agent telling me to do the search first before paying him any $ to start writing the claims. All that said, I like your innovation and hope after some more testing & refinement we see this thing available for purchase in the near future. I would love to try one out;)
  16. Appreciate the offer. I would be using a threaded bull barrel (probably a Schuemann). A buddy of mine has a lathe and end mill. May just play around and see what happens. Probably be a few months since I just sent in a certificate to STI for a slide and haven't ordered the barrel yet. Most likely I'll use a more conventional comp, but might be interesting to see what the Rocket Comp would do.
  17. Could add a baffle and a port... The trade off is felt recoil vs muzzle flip. A lot of factors play into that trade -- load your shooting, comp design, and grip/shooting skill. I have shot open guns that slapped your hands really hard and some that were much easier on the hands. It seemed to me like the harder the slap, the less the dot moved. Maybe that is just a perception due to the gun reacting quicker than I am able to observe the dot moving up and down. If so, maybe the rocket nozzle concept will improve that perception.
  18. I found this video on YouTube comparing the Levang with no comp and another comp: From the video, it seems like the Levang does make a difference in muzzle flip for a short barrel rifle especially when compared with no comp. The nozzle design provides max thrust when the gas converges and then diverges after passing through the throat. For 9mm/38 Super, the throat diameter has to be .368". So, it might be difficult to get much of a convergence going from the barrel to the throat. The Levang does have a baffle with holes on the exit which might help make up for the limited convergence. Well, it's just an idea and I threw it out here to see the pro's and con's. Appreciate the responses;)
  19. Couple of thoughts.... The nozzle comp could be combined with a hybri-comp barrel with some holes in it to help with muzzle flip. The nozzle could be made with the axis angled to create a force vector to counter muzzle flip. Probably require a lot of trial and error. Appreciate the info on the Levang. Will have to research that one.
  20. I was considering a comp design that would put the recoil impulse straight back into my hands -- another attempt at the holy grail of no dot movement. I don't know what this would do or feel like, but might be interesting to machine a screw-on comp version and see what happens. Anybody ever heard of someone doing this? I keep imagining the early days of rocketry when the launches went unstable
  21. I've tried a guide rod and 7, 8, 9, and 11 lb springs. The 7 and 8 lb springs felt just like the recoilmaster to me. The 9 lb wasn't much different, but more noticable compared to the recoilmaster. The 11 lb was not good at all. The slide slams back into battery rather harshly causing the dot to dip lower than what I'm used to. I went back to the recoilmaster. I figured the dual spring set-up was probably better for the frame then going with the traditional guide rod for a commander length slide like the STI Steelmaster. Note: I did use a government length guide rod and springs. Also, I was shooting major power factor through it. For minor, I wouldn't see a need to use buffers.
  22. Try looking at the very back of the c-more when you draw in dry-fire. Also, a good trick for SHO/WHO. After some repetitions you'll get the index feeling you need and things will just fall into place naturally.
  23. I just got a case of 115 JHP ordered;) Been waiting for 115 CMJ to be available, but will take what I can get.
  24. Did you ever try the Clays loads suggested here? http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=110443#entry1911097
  25. I shoot it 2-1-4-3-S for both centerfire and rimfire. I also shoot Smoke & Hope and Accelerator that way. In all cases, my draw is on the closest target, which is a faster draw, and I tend to shoot faster right to left. So, it's bang-bang..bang-bang-bang. As BJ said, consistency is the key and this approach works well for me. However, my best time is no where near BJ's. I'm more like 2.5-3.0 seconds with an occasional 2.3 in centerfire open sights.
