  1. Here's the B.S. response e-mail I received from Channel 9. What a load of crap. I hate the news media. Mr. Cook, thank you for taking the time to share your opinion with us. We take your concerns very seriously, and we understand that you strongly disagree with the station's decision to publish state records identifying concealed weapon permit holders in Central Florida. While we very much respect your viewpoint, we believe that our story regarding concealed weapon permits, as well as the identities of those who have elected to obtain those permits, is newsworthy and of legitimate concern to the public. The Florida legislature has deemed that the identity of permit holders, including their names, addresses, dates of birth and permit numbers, is public information. While the legislature has determined that law abiding citizens have the right to carry a concealed weapon, it also has determined that their fellow citizens have a right to know who has been granted such a permit. However, to the extent that you have any continuing concerns about the publication on the station's website of the state's list of permit holders, you should be reassured by the fact that this information is no longer available on the website as a result of the station's normal process of removing dated materials. We hope this will ease any concerns you may have. Again, we thank you for taking the time to contact us. Please know that we hear you, and we understand your concerns. Hopefully, we can move forward from here with mutual respect and a better understanding of each other's viewpoint on this matter. Bill Hoffman, General Manager
  2. Congrats!!!!! You need to learn the new "Husbands Dialogue" which includes but is not limited to; "Yes Dear", "You're Right", "I'm Sorry", "Anything for You", "I Understand Completely", And the hardest one for us, of course, is "I'ld always rather be with you instead of Shooting". Every Husband must learn and add to this dialogue as the marriage progresses. P.S. Robin says: So that's the ring that selling an open gun will get you huh! Niiiice Me: Thanks a lot Eric!!
  3. I just love this show. There's not too many series shows that I really like a lot but this is the best since "Keen Eddie" which was canceled after about 6 shows. I hope this one lasts a while.
  4. OOPS!! My Bad. I, as an R.O., will tell them beforehand that they have approx. 5 secs. to take a sight picture if I've noticed them being excessive prior to. Drift: If I'm reading my Green Book correctly then, You are allowed to take a sight pic with a "LOADED" gun? = 8.7.1
  5. My original post was inaccurate. The lists were only the 5 or 6 counties in the Channel 9 viewing area. This changes nothing. It only shows that I would make a good news reporter, i.e. not studying the facts thoroughly before reporting.
  6. O.K. ---- I realize I'm stirring the pot a bit here...... At some point during the transfer, the gun's gotta be in both hands. Assuming that the shooter doesn't have the "Deer in the headlights, Oh my God, what was that" look, they can make the argument that they fired a freestyle shot. I'll ask you a question ---- How do you (as the R.O.) know that the shooter broke the shot during the transfer? The look referenced above, a bullet striking the ground, and a possible host of other things may indicate that that's what happened ---- but the R.O. needs to be certain...... I think it's easy to recite the rule, and that most of us will know it when we see it. Teaching it however, is a little more difficult than just citing the rule....... This is exactly why I brought up rule 10.5.10
  7. 7 o-clock below the pic of the gun in the bag. Click on the County name and you have to have Excel or at least a reader program.
  8. I have to stop drinking while reading the Humor threads. Damn! that's funny.
  9. Very good, accurate movie with no political over or undertones.
  10. Orlando's channel 9 news has posted lists complete with addresses of all Concealed Weapon and Firearms licensees in the state of Florida. LINK HERE!!!!!!! These damn people just don't get it. Please let them know how you feel about them posting information that allows Criminals to know where you live and know you own guns.
  11. You can memorize a stage in 5 minutes but you can't ingrain it into your memory. Example: You go to a match and memorize a stage during the 5 min. walk through and shoot it really well. That stage is left up exactly as it was the first time you shot it and two weeks later the same range has a match were the "Locals" who didn't get to shoot it during the big match will get to at this local match (they do this at the Fl. Open range). If you go up to shoot that same stage you had shot 2 weeks earlier without any prep, only relying on the 5 minutes from 2 weeks earlier are you going to shoot it the same as you did the first time? I don't think so because you only memorized it the first time. You didn't ingrain it into your memory. But I'm sure that most great shooters can stop practicing their .80 draw or their .80 reload or their movement techniques etc. etc. for two weeks and still pull them off because they are ingrained into memory, muscle or otherwise. It is the deliberateness of putting into action those things ingrained into our muscle memory at the right points during a course of fire that we have only memorized long enough to shoot within the next 30 minutes or so that I am referring to. I may be full of crap, I don't know. What I'm saying makes sense to me but it may not be coming across to others the same as I see it. I'm only a solid "B" Limited shooter close to my "A" class but I am very good at Long Range Rifle and deliberateness is extremely important there.
  12. 8.5 Movement; 8.5.1.2 : "Changing shooting stance (e.g. from standing to kneeling, from seated to standing etc.)." I would think that the etc. in that rule includes completely moving around a barricade to shoot at targets diagonally. You can't tell me you can do this without changing your shooting stance. It's really moot because 10.4.5 gives you your answer. I only included 10.5.10 referencing 8.5.1 incase the Shooter tried the "I was finished transfering the gun when it went off so that rule doesn't apply" B.S. I try to always cover all bases.
  13. Noone reads down as far as my post before trying it. They just click on it right away and "BAMMM" they're gotten. Then they read everyone elses responses and think "Crap!! I should have read the other posts first". On another forum I visit a guy posted one of those "Un-focus your eyes and get within 6 inches of your monitor to see a 3-D picture of such & such" and after stairing at it for about 10 secs. the exact same thing happens as does here. I was the third one to respond and i stated the same thing I did in this thread and ther are 67 posts after mine of people getting the crap startled out of them.
  14. What he said + 10.4.6 & 10.5.10 referencing 8.5.1.2
  15. Happy B-Day Jake. Now that you are old enough to drink try this; 2 shots Crown Royal + 1 12oz. bottle of IBC Cream Soda. I call it "Royal-Tea" cause it looks like tea and it's a play on Royalty. Anyway, give it a shot.
  16. The max O.A.L. you can go with in the XD.40 without any issues is 1.155 in.
  17. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's some funny stuff !! I bet that scared the crap out of a lot of you. Here's a good lesson I learned a long time ago that saved my drawers on this one; "Leave your speakers turned off unless you know there is going to be sound involved". The pic by itself doesn't get you, it's the scream.
  18. ditypool40, After shooting with you yesterday I came home and set my boxes up in the back yard. I got out my stop watch and went to practicing what you taught me. I started from behind a "Faultline" and entered the first box immediately exiting toward the 2nd box and then on to the third box moving the way you had instructed. No shooting action while doing this only pure movement. I started the stop watch when I started my movement and stopped it when my following foot was planted. Remember that I didn't understand the whole "Box Entrance" part of what you were saying but the exit part I caught onto right away. I get all of it now. I gained .7-.9 seconds between my old way of movement and this new way useing a fault line and 3 boxes. Thanks a bunch.
  19. Nope! Who am I too judge. Just a funny pic. If all those tags said "Poodle" I would have made a joke about that too but I have nothing against Poodles either.
  20. The "Guys" are correct. If there is a "No-Shoot" behind the target in illustration #1 then the shooter gets the hit on the target and the penelty on the no-shoot. If the bullet "Touches" the perferation the part of the bullet penetrated both targets. Rules 9.1.5.3 and 9.5.3 apply.
  21. I hate spitting Crown and Cream Soda all over my key board laughing at something in the humor section.
