  1. It's been stated by some that it takes about 10,000 hours of a motor skill to have it committed to the subconscious mind or wired in the brain, have you dryfired 10K hours yet? :)

I haven't even had the gun for a fraction of that time.

(Irrelevant nitpick because the number still means "a whole lot" but it is more commonly 10,000 reps of a motor skill, not 10,000 hours of a motor skill. Ok, moving on....)

Look up the book written by Malcolm Gladwell...his theory was 10,000 hours to master any skill and that has been used in several research projects since. Someone else mistook that later as 10,000 reps but that was not the original theory. I think that is a little crazy but that is what I was referring to. And I was really just being facetious ...

  2. One of the first matches I shot, I kind of freaked the RO out a little bit. He was used to seeing several shooters with their CZ 75B's slowly lowering their hammers by hand. I flicked the decocker on my 226 and the hammer flew forward. He initially thought I had pulled the trigger to lower the hammer! :surprise: Once I explained what had happened, he calmed back down. :)

And that would worth the cost to buy a decocker model...I just may do that some day! :)

  3. Yes i do but i am dutch and the article in a dutch gun magazine that explanes how to do it is in dutch to .

And i don't know if i can translate this in english .

There are a lot of clips on internet about diy anodising and some explane it verry wel .

This is a good one there also is a part 2 and 3

    Thanks!

  4. Final setup in the morning of the local match does it for me, in fact, I'm very warm after that :). Before any match, try to look over my equipment first and function check everything. This turns into some dryfire and manipulation drills.

  5. Last time I researched this there was also a guy in Costa Mesa who did it for $30. I instead just switched bullets to one with a different profile/ogive and that let me load as long as I wanted.

Do you mind sharing what bullet you switched to? Thanks

I can tell you Bayou Bullets 124 gr RN works. I was using the 135 gr and had to load them very, very short. I can load the 124 gr RN out as long as the mag can take.

I don't have any Bayou 124 but I have some Blues. I'll try those out next, I've been running 147s (Bayou and Blue) and I have to keep them short. Thanks and thanks to Rowdyb also!

  6. If you are handy with tools, a throat reamer isn't that expensive. Add a t-handle and some cutting oil and that is it and you can do multiple guns. The reamer is piloted, use plenty of cutting fluid, and just cut a bit at a time, and only turn the reamer in the direction of the cut or you dull it. You will not mess up your chamber as you are only cutting the throat/freebore.

I have an Accu showing up today, and I will be reaming it as soon as my Brownells shipment gets here. I have a old KKM I have to ream and the CZ.

What reamer are you using? Manson? How many turns does it normally take you?

  7. It would appear to be basically the same as the 180 rule, they have just broken it out to left and right.

The rule books (both IPSC and USPSA) use 90 (from the median intercept) instead of 180. I know we all talk about 180 but it's all the same.

  8. If you already drew or raised to get on target, it should be your run and continue.

There is also a False Start, you get a procedural for that:

    • “False Start”: A competitor who is creeping (e.g. moving

hands towards the handgun, or physically moving to a more advantageous shooting position or posture prior to the start signal) shall receive a 3 second procedural penalty.

The only other interference would be if you hear a buzzer go off from an adjoining bay or close by, the RO should recognize this and stop/restart the shooter.
  9. agreed accept for your math ..... .5 sec draw plus 5 .10 sec splits is 1.0 secs .... remember draw time is defined as the time to make the first shot from the holster .... not how long is takes to just get the gun out of the holster ....

    Didn't even you say that a Bill Drill is 6 shots? 6 x .1 = .6 + .5 = 1.10.

  11. I really think that the heavy slide will not produce any huge advantages over the other Production legal models. The total weight of all the models are very close but with the bulk of the mass reciprocating now, it will cause more movement with the sights or should theoretically. It's a beautiful gun and I would really like to shoot one before I discredit it but this is just my observation so far.

  12. You'll also wanted to confirm it with the RO that is running you. Not all bays are exactly squared off so on some bays, you just may want to confirm with the RO before the buzzer where the line/180 is at. I have shot in bays that were almost round with a small opening so the 180 would "float" with the stage design. Just ask if you are not sure, the RO is there to help also.

  13. ^^^^^ LOL Actually, I'm tired of haveing to " only load 10 " in IDPA ! I have a gun with a mag that will hold 17-19 rounds...I'm gunna run in that class.I'm a marksman but shoot with the sharpshooters....freaked up a classifier..LOL I could be a expert if I had the time to shoot more than a couple times a month.I'm venturing over to USPSA & PASS and away from IDPA.I'm a Glock man but drank the CZ Koolaid so I'm trying to see what class I need/like to be in. :)

You'll enjoy USPSA and try out all the divisions to see what you like the most. Limited is great to start off with but like it was mentioned, the CZs rule the Production division while the 2011 styles rule the Limited/L10/Open divisions. Doesn't mean you can't run your CZ in there, just not as common. I'm sure you'll do fine - just get your practice in.

  14. DQ per 10.5.11.2

Thanks...I definitely won't be doing that again.

Make sure you are dryfiring at home before the match to build the muscle memory to do this and not even think about it.

I actually have been doing it. I'm finding that once my heart starts pumping, I'm reverting back to how I used to do things with my old gun.
