  1. Stick with AR platform, and try to pick one that supports the sport, DPMS,JP,LaRue,Firebird,SunDevil,Sabre, etc.

Doesn't STI support the sport? I know in USPSA, they are heavy supporters at the matches and with teams. My favorite is the JP but the wait time will kill me so I will save that for later and pick up something now in the 1100-1200 price range. Thanks for the comment!

  2. You already have a Colt and an Olympic..?

    Shoot one of those. :)

The Colt is an older A1 that is in great shape and I want to keep it that way. The Olympic is one of the original pre-ban models that are not produced anymore so I want to keep that in good shape too. Just looking for a quick rifle to pick up, throw on some optics, and be somewhat ready for some range time and matches. Thanks for the comment!

  3. I would like everyone's opinion on the following:

I plan on purchasing an entry level rifle soon, within a week or two. I plan to shoot it for 3-Gun and side matches, etc. I am looking at the STI Competition model since I like STI (have three of their pistols), it has a 1:8 twist, JP trigger, etc, etc for about $1100.

Recently, I shot a buddies SIG 556 and absolutely loved it! It felt better (comfortable and softer) than my Colt AR-15 or my Olympic. I am looking at maybe getting one of these but I'm worried about the availability of parts, after-market upgrades, etc. I can get one of these for about $1250.

Yeah, I know I can go with a JP and I do plan to but it takes about nine months now to get one. I want an entry level rifle now and will get in line for a JP soon.

So...what is your opinion, should I go with the STI or SIG?

Thanks for all your input and opinions!

  4. Hello Everyone,

I would like to invite everyone out to the start of the Steel Challenge (SCSA) matches in Charleston, SC at Palmetto Gun Club. Our first match will be on Saturday, October 24th. Registration will begin at 09:30, briefing at 09:55, and shooting to start around 10:00. We will continue to hold matches on the 4th Saturdays, every month except some holidays which will be posted.

If you have questions, need a map, or even a suggestion, please let me know. Looking forward to a big turnout so come on out. Remember you can shoot your rimfire pistols and rifles (.22 LR only) along with your other centerfire pistols (minimum 9mm/.38 SPL for CF). Also, you do not have to be a member of the club or of SCSA but it would be nice:)

    Thanks!

  5. This probably won't help you in the near future, but the Mid-Carolina Rifle Club in Columbia SC usually has a classifier match a couple of months before the Sectional Championship. It's usually in February though

Hi Lee, yeah, thanks, I'm usually there every month at MC and Palmetto(member). My wife wanted to get her classification with her new gun so I told her I would try to find an all classifier match. When she wants it, she wants it now...That can be a good thing sometimes :) George

  6. Absolutely! No matter what position you are in, where the sights are when the bullet is exiting the barrel, is where it's going to go. There's no "bending the bullet" like in the movies but I do see what you are trying to say. It is a problem for all of us at one time or another. Another term for "milking" is also "fisting". Thanks for the post!

  7. Yeah, like I originally said, it is on the list as they claim...no questions there. I was just wondering if that is acceptable to lower the hammer manually since there is no decocker. Does anyone know where it states it can be decocked manually in the USPSA rulebook? Thanks for all the answers!

    10.5.9

Hey Ledge, that's exactly what I needed. I read the rule and that's it, don't know how I missed it. Thanks a lot to you and everyone who joined in!

  8. Hello all,

I am wondering about the EAA Elite Stock and how it is legal in USPSA Production class? On the EAA website, it states clearly that it is Production quality. If you look on the Production Gun List on USPSA, the EAA Elite Stock is listed as approved. If you read the USPSA rule book, it states that Production pistols with external hammers have to be fully decocked prior to the start signal but this isn't possible with this pistol.

Does anyone have an answer? I haven't e-mailed NROI yet because I wanted to check here first.

    Thanks for any input...

if you check the USPSA production approved list..you will find our answer.

yes ...its on the list :D
