  1. 8.2.2: The competitor assumes the start position as specified in the written stage briefing. Unless otherwise specified, the competitor must stand erect, facing downrange, with arms and hands hanging naturally by the sides

I was recently emailing with Troy asking him a few questions including one on 8.2.2 and whether if the WSB states anything regarding the start position (such as heels on X's) does that invalidate all of the default start position in 8.2.2, this is his response:

"Once the stage briefing specifies any other start position, then all bets are off. If it specifies "toes on X marks", and nothing else, then the competitor can be turned however he wishes. He cannot, of course, start touching his gun or ammo. That's why it's important to write a concise but definitive start position into a stage if the default is not being used."

    So the RO was incorrect

wait, why is it important? It's only important if you have something specific you want shooters to do. If you want to let them solve the problem their own way, then specify what you need to specify.

Isn't that what Troy was saying?

  2. Kahr PM9 or CM9

+1...I like the PM9. I've had it a few years now and love that gun. I have owned the Keltec, Diamonback, XDs, J frames, Glock subcompacts, etc. and the Kahr is the best for me. I've been thinking of getting a backup to it since it is my EDC.

I got to handle a Rohrbaugh and it felt nice but I just couldn't see paying that much for that one.

  3. I hate to say this but I hope Classifier Calculator is correct cause I looked at my last classifier HF and put it in yours and the other one...your's shows it 7% lower, crap...oh well, I'll let you know after the update.

Hah... which one, and what division? I can verify it for ya. :)

Would you check Production and 13-04? Thanks

  4. I C-clamped my 550 for a while when I moved one time back in the 90's. I used two large, well made C-clamps and they held it fine. I would only do it only temporarily like you stated so it will work for a quick fix. Don't get the cheap, flimsy clamps, they won't hold it.

  5. So, where does one get a Wi-Fi router that will cover a range? I would really like to be able to sync every 10-20 minutes as the day progresses. From our stats trailer it is probably under 100 yards to any location that the nook is likely to be in, but only just under. Also we would not have internet access, only our local wifi. And just to make it a little more interesting, we have a solar array charging a couple 12v batteries, no 110 power unless I add an inverter and a couple more batteries.

Lots of commercial models will do it. Here is a company that is more geared to the SOHO/home user that is reasonable:

I have a few of their products and they worked great.

  6. Nice tool, thanks. One thing that's annoying is when you check your percentage (after you put in the classifier and hit factor), it reverts back to Limited and 03-02. It would be nice to keep it on the one you just checked if you want to play with the hit factor to see what your percentage would have been if you did X and Y.

The "reverse calculator" function would be awesome.

  7. Whats the advantage over a glock? Other than maybe it fits some better. Never shot one, and dont plan on getting rid of my glock. Just curious.

The most talked about advantages that are discussed with CZ/Tanfo is:

    1) Weight - heavier therefore absorbs recoil better, less felt recoil

    2) Frame - all metal so very little flexing

    3) Proven Accuracy - The CZC shop states some models will shoot inside of 3" at 50 yards.

    4) DA - The DA pull on the custom models is usually lighter and smoother than other Production pistols.

There's probably some more points I'm missing but that's the bulk of it I believe.

  8. Cool, how did the match go? I haven't been up there in a long time. I shot more practice and a match this past weekend so about 800 bullets so far on the 8.5 lb spring and zero, yes, "0" light strikes. Really loving this so far. All with Federal SPP.

  9. Bottom line is if you can look the shooter in the eye and tell them exactly what they did, with no equivocation, then make the call. No calls made on "I think you......"

This is what the NROI instructor told us at an RO class I just took. His statement was that you better be 100% sure of a 180 or finger in trigger guard infraction. I asked what about if you're 99% sure. He said, you need to be 100% sure.

    +1
