  1. The ACE is a nice stock but I went the other way, I put a PRS on mine. I wanted the extra weight to help absorb recoil and it seems to balance it out nicely. T&N did all the work on mine and it runs great. If you decide you didn't want to mess with it or if you just can't get it to run right, send it over to them and they'll get it going. Great guys to deal with also!

  2. Just curious, did the either one of the RO's notice that activated target had not been reset? It should have been noticed along the way as you are shooting, a stop issued, targets pasted and a reshoot ensues. Either way, it should have been a reshoot and I doubt if any RM(I)s would argue that point.

I believe the part you were referring to about only letting those affected by a change reshoot, the RM was probably going by 2.3.3.

  3. I use the ghost pouches. When the tension clips break...............and they will. I will go with the double alpha pouches.

You can't get the ghost pouch tension clips separately. The double alpha tension blocks will never break.

If I could go back, I would have purchased the double alpha to start.

How many "loads" do you have on your pouches now? I've already talked to people that had them almost a year and they practice/shoot a lot and never broke one yet. They also came with extras so you shouldn't need any for a long time.

The full size thin aggressive checkered grips live up to their other name of lemon graters. Not sharp enough to cut you or make skin zest of your palms, but very grippy indeed!

The CZC accu shadow came with the thin tape grips. I swapped them for the lemon graters on a CZ Kadet and also put a stip of 3M grip tape from Home Depot on the front strap.

I prefer the smooth Miculek grips on wheelguns but on most everything else, it's all about traction.

Are those the same as these:

  5. By getting this data now, you can build a baseline off of that. It may not help with the past as much but it will help you in the future. Those strings you mentioned, the 166 and 169, was that 10 shots or 20 shots or what? Also, do you connect your M2 to your computer and pull the data from there or do you just copy it? It has a pretty good size memory so you may want to pull off all the data if you haven't already.

I see you are using Zeros and with my experience with them, they are very close to advertised weight. However, if your bullet is off by 5 grains (225 vs 230), that can vary your PF by 3-4 if your speed is 750. I know your PF was off by 9 PF so I really doubt that was it but it's worth checking.

Like I said, I have never used a coffin with mine and I'm always +/- 2 PF and I shoot a lot of matches with a chrono stage (and all of them use coffins). Therefore, I just don't see the need to have a coffin unless you have some really crappy conditions you are always dealing with outdoors or if you have to chrono inside.

The 166 and 169 PFs were 3 shot strings each. Just like at a match. No I do not connect my M2 to a computer, I just copy it off, but I do clear all memory before any new testing.

RE bullet weight, maybe. Still, very tough to sample. I may as take one out of the pile waiting to load and weight it to use to calculate the PF of each string.

I may try again on a bright sunny day, and try with the regular screens and with the IR screens.

That's a good idea. I have the IR screens but I've never used them. My original intention was to make a coffin and use them for that but I never did. I noticed that all my readings were just about the same as each match I went to so I just didn't see the need to make a box and then carry more crap to the range with me.

Actually, that's exactly the way I do it, I thought I was the only one :). I run 3 shot strings and calculate the PF but I do that about 10 to 15 times. I make sure that no one string is ever below 169 (if loading Major) and 129 (if loading Minor). I shoot for averages of 172 (Major) and 132 (Minor) to keep them a good distance away from the minimum. The only difference would my Open gun as it sometimes runs better at a higher PF so that may go up to 176-178.

Good luck and let us know your results.

  7. Another vote for the Zig! I have switched over most of my guns to it now and love it. I have went through many slide rackers and this is by far the best out there. Remember there are two models (a long and a short), one for vertical mounts and one for horizontal mounts.

  8. I have had a CED M2 for several years now and mine has been spot on every single time. I usually chrono a few days before a big match and I'm always +/- 2 PF but most of the time it is within 1 PF. My loads over the past years has been with HS6 in an Open gun.

Did you try using your regular screens? What was the lighting like and weather conditions? Was the bullet weight and if so, what weight was it? How many shots per string were you shooting to get your PF (10 shots per strings or etc.)? What was your SD/ES/AVG?

BTW, I never use a box at home but all the Majors I've been to do.

  9. I dont have the tool and it's very easy to do. Personally I think the tool is a waste of money, just my 2 cents

I was thinking that myself but if CGW saw a reason to make it, there must be a good reason. They don't seem like the kind of business to make stuff just to sell so I'm wondering...Thanks for the comment.

  10. I was looking at the CGW website and I saw the Joe Tool for changing out hammer springs. Does anyone have this tool and can speak about it? Is it worth it if you want to change out springs often? Does it really save time/effort/etc.?

    Thanks for any input...

  11. ...On the converse, if a certified RO, CRO, RM sees a DQ, but does not have a timer or nook in his hand, but two un-certified shooters are running the shooter, then no DQ can be issued?

Really? You have plenty of certified ROs, CROs, and RM standing around but no one certified running shooters?

  12. Although I don't have a hard fast rule to point to for this one, at a Level I match there are two ROs running the stage at any given point and time: one is holding a timer and the other is holding a clip board or Nook. These are the two people who are authorized to issue commands (including stop) and penalties. It is my opinion that everyone else's call (outside of the RM) doesn't count. Not to say that they cannot advise the ROs but it's the ROs' call.

+1...this is my opinion also except anyone can issue a "Stop" for certain situations that the ROs can't see(kid climbing over the berm, etc.). There have been times where a shooter got close to a DQ but did not break a DQ rule and I would hear ohhs and awws from the peanut gallery. If I'm running the timer, my focus is on the firearm and my vantage point is much better than the shooters in the rear. No, you can't see everything but given your proximity, the RO running the shooter should have the best angle with the scorekeeper having the second best view. Given this, you should be able to make the best call. Remember angles from the rear can be very different than being right up on the shooter.
  13. This is really, really good! I don't watch TV except for sports and news. I got hooked into this with one episode and now I've watched it all the way through...wow. I can't wait for Season 3 to come out. I can't find a timetable for it except MAYBE around September, if anyone knows or finds it, would you post it please. Thanks...

  14. So everyone with a holster canted rearward breaks the 180 during course of fire?

There is an exception, see this...

10.5.6 While facing downrange, allowing the muzzle of a loaded handgun to point uprange beyond a radius of 3 feet from a competitor’s feet while drawing or re-holstering.

  15. That brings up a good point, on a DA, they would be fine. On a SA, the SA safety can't be applied since it is not cocked. So if it can't be applied, is that really how it should be? I imagine this was not thought of when writing these sections. And I totally understand that, everything can't be thought of and put into the books.

I guess I was just thinking about a DA at first since it would be within 8.1, there are no issues.

Vlad did bring up a good point about 8.4.1 also so there could be a debate about what is downrange and getting authorization from the RO about safe direction. However, there is no DQ offense related to 8.4.1 that states the same wording so I can't see a DQ from it but it shouldn't be done.

  16. That's a good point Vlad but he is not "loading, reloading, or unloading". Loading is not completed until ammo is inserted, firearm is in battery and ready to fire. I would say it is not ready to fire at this point so it doesn't fall in the 8.4.1. Besides, pointing down at that point is still in a safe direction.
