  1. It would be nice to hear from Adrian. Just give us a heads up, new springs and followers are here maybe coming or they are what they are? thanks

I sent you a PM...he didn't get it so get with me and we'll get this straighten out...

  2. I ended up finding a thumb rest which is designed for the Czechmate. The brand and model name is 'advance ratio xcel'. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it feels good.

Do you live in Australia? That company is there so just wondering if it was local to you.

  3. So if I got those experts here right the approach is -

    • learn how to shoot precise (small groups...) by having proper techniques
    • push for speed and don't worry about what's on the target, that will settle when the speed becomes "normal"
Or did I get something wrong?
I took it as, push for speed...and the accuracy will follow.

+1...this is the mantra I try to follow. I did the same crappy thing for years (accuracy first, speed will follow).. well, the speed never followed.

Looking forward to reading Steve's new book, getting it on order today.

  4. Sarge, I think we all know your point but I'm sure you know George's point also. He is purely going off the rules, not factoring in every single situation that we have at matches such as same person - multiple hats, etc.

As he said, the MD has no authority so with the MD hat on, that statement is correct. If they wear another hat that says RM, then it goes from there.

  5. Yeah, this sounds like a test question. Not a good idea to post it here. I would take it down, discuss it with your instructor, and turn it in. If you don't like the outcome or still don't understand it, then post that on here.

  6. I always go up 4 inches from my belt size. I wear a 38 and all my DAA belts are 42, just the perfect overlap and size. I have the Ghost 360 pouches and just used them in a match 2 weeks ago, they are great but still getting used to bullets out. It really saves a lot of room. I use the Comp-Tac with the BOSS hanger. If you want fast, order from Shooters Connection. They have never failed me (had at least one bad experience with almost every one else, especially my last order) and are great to deal with. I will always try to get from SC in all my future orders.

  7. No, what is harsh is when you buy a 160.00 magazine and it does not work. Then you have to buy springs and followers to have them work.

That is something we can definitely agree on !

  8. I sent emails last month around 20th, still nada. After I got the email from YOU here, cause it WAS down... I still have no idea. But I'll tell you this TTi hooked me up with one email. Has anyone got a response?

Brother, I sent it to you since I had it handy and was trying to help out. However, right after I PM'ed you, I checked his website and the main contact link worked for me. I am just as pissed as everyone else who purchased mags that don't work but I just want to keep things fair to Adrian. He has responded to me and many others promptly and has taken care to ensure he fixes the problem. $h!t happens so this is just one of those things. So far, mine are working great on the new springs/followers.

  9. ... I thought production division was put in place prior to the gun ban/mag cap restrictions where there was no limit to topping off mag and then was later change to a max of 10...

Oh no...not by a long shot. Heck, "Limited" division wasn't officially adopted until 1995 and by that time, the AWB was already in effect.

  10. Yes, a Production Optics division would be fun, lol.

It just may happen. I didn't think it would since it's been very unpopular with shooters on this forum and ones I talk to at the range. However, it was on the BOD meeting agenda to have the rules committee look into this and report back to the BOD about it. We'll see if it gains any traction. I'm not in favor of it but it would give me an excuse to buy another gun :)

Production came about during the AWB so since there was a 10 round limit on everything, it used that standard. After the sunset, guess there was no need to change it and it helps keep a level playing field for newer shooters. Since there is a really wide array of capacities for Production type guns, this makes sense and helps keep it more "equal" when it comes to gear.

  11. Then he put it back up, read through the threads here and other places, he has taken it down when the heat was on.

Not harsh either, just the facts.

A 404 error doesn't mean he took it down, it means it cant find the page. That is harsh to say he took it down intentionally without knowing if he did. The truth is the contact page could not be found so what you said is harsh.
  12. Another vote here for the Perman springs! Talked to Scott, he was awesome to deal with, got it going right away. I had the springs in two days. Installed them and wow, what a difference! It feels more positive but I was hesitant that it would stop me from accidentally engaging the safety. After 200 dryfire draws, no problems at all. However, just being the caution guy I am, just ordered the thin safety set and will be putting that on soon also. This is going on an Accu Shadow that is used in USPSA Production.

If you don't have the Perman springs, you are really missing out!

  13. I had an issue while searching. Usually I search for a topic, read a post in the results list, click the back button, I look back through the list to find more. Tonight around 2000 EDT, it would time out. Not the same as the loading issues but it did show a 404 error, which is the same. No issues with the searches but only with navigation.

    Sent from the range

  14. There was a stage at the USPSA nationals that had a target setup that way. The stage was thrown out if I remember correctly.

There have been a few instances at club matches that presented this issue. In every instance I found this while walking the stages before the start of the match. I would fix the target placement myself to make it legal then tell the MD or if the MD was on a power trip I would tell him to fix it before the start of the match.

Ok, I expected as much from you. I feel a little better, I was really getting worried with the way this thread was going but confidence has been restored.

There is no standardization on the official definition on a 180 trap and about everyone I talk to sees it a little differently. I see a 180 trap where a target can be clearly engaged past the 180 but also had a legal presentation at some point in the COF. If it never has a legal presentation (safe angle to engage it), it's just a bad design and should be fixed immediately before first shots. What comes to mind was a stage at a Major match five years ago where there were ports and as you passed the ports, the previous targets could still be clearly seen/engaged but was past the 180. The front most targets could be legally engaged from the first port but could also be engaged from the third port (just going off of memory, I think it was third) but it was passed the 180. It was a full target presentation clearly seen beyond the 180 but my point here is that it was legal at one point and then was not from another. From the presentation, it looked almost legal and when you go by "as and when visible", it would trip up some. I think it was tossed.

Just for the record, I really hate the wording in 2.1.4 about "being forced to act"...the COF doesn't force you to do anything, the shooter makes their own decisions about what they do and they are responsible for it. I do believe in "dummy proofing" a stage but you can only go so far sometimes.

  15. I think we need to clarify what a 180 "Trap" is. 180 Trap is the placement of a target so that it can ONLY be engaged beyond the 180...

So I'm still a little confused...so is this your definition of a "180 trap"? It doesn't sound like it when I read the rest of the post but wanting to know since this goes against plain logic and really, really bad stage design and setup.

You are correct in my definition of a 180 Trap.

Beyond that there can be targets placed close to the 180 and the shooter CHOOSES to engage them beyond the 180. That is not a "Trap". That is a bad decision made by the shooter.

So you have seen a COF with targets that can only be engaged beyond the 180 and you still shot it? or even stayed on the premises?

  16. I'm in the same boat...I like the look of the grips the OP is looking at but not sure if they will be any more grippier than what I have. I like the look of the SSI ones but I can see a few cons with that. I'm still on the hunt to find the perfect grips for my Accu Shadow. Are there any other ones that we've missed? I might end up making my own.

  18. The fact that I have only been a USPSA member for two years and can see the issues should testify to the problem.

Or maybe it means it's only a problem to YOU. I don't hear anyone else making any noise about it.

As i mentioned earlier, it's MUCH more important to me that my area match doesn't conflict with other major matches in my area than with major matches in other areas.

No, that's not the case. I hear it all the time but like it was mentioned earlier in this thread, it's been brought up before.
  19. As Chuck said, when I was on the BOD the President would help coordinate Area match dates to keep us from overlapping.

It is somewhat challenging but not impossible.

Now that makes sense. At least the Area Matches should be coordinated. The key here is "try" to coordinate them. If things just can't fly, then so be it but at least make an effort to do it.
