  1. Seen this also and as long as they don't cock the hammer with the mag inserted and the gun still in the holster, I'm ok with it. I think they are trying to get a practice draw with the gun loaded so the weight is the same. More common is to draw, take a sight picture, insert a mag, back in the holster (as long as it is within 8.1) and then draw/take a sight picture.

  2. How do you get on Dan's schedule? I've sent him several emails and only received the auto-reply. I've sent him pm's on this site but no replies. Do you just complete the work order and send him the gun without scheduling an appointment? I've been trying periodically for over a year.

This comes up every few months and it's hard to find or reach him. I know he stays busy but this is one of those things you will have to deal with.

  3. Not loaded so no harm no foul. Unless the rulebook mentions it somewhere else I believe it's only a DQ able offense to holster a loaded single action firearm without the safety applied.

The book defines a loaded firearm, a gun void of any ammo isn't loaded.

Not sure it's the best practice, but unless someone comes up with another rule that's my interpretation.

A loaded firearm is also with a magazine inserted with live or dummy rounds or any live or dummy round in the chamber.

There is a lengthy discussion on this as shown above.

  4. Maybe not in this case, but how many are aware that the scorekeeper is the second RO on the COF. Foot faults, procedurals, 180's, and other safety concerns. I almost never see the scorekeeper actively involved (at least at the local level) during the COF. Maybe it is not covered during the training, but even if not certified, the scorekeeper should be aware of what the shooter is doing.

Absolutely true! If the RO missed it (shouldn't have missed such an egregious act but I wasn't there so I don't know), then the scorekeeper should have. This is stressed at our local matches.

  5. I'm using the Gold (the big ones). The ones that had the NRR of 33. I've got 3 pairs now :)

Same here! Except I only have one pair but will buy another pair if these go down.

  6. Wow, that's crazy! Yeah, nothing like that. I just a very accurate digital scale that works. Every one I have purchased seemed to fail not long after getting it. By getting that one at UniqueTek, it seems sturdy and plenty accurate for what we do so I'm going that route unless someone convinces me that it sucks or breaks often.

  7. If it gets this bad, the MD needs to get involved. He or she should have a talk with the squad AND then closely monitor that squad. They should stay with that squad and motivate the shooters to keep things moving. However, there will be some that can't help too much due to health issues or whatever but there are other ways they can assist. If they are just BS'ing, that should be addressed ASAP.

  8. I guess it depends on what you mean by "super accurate scales". Going into the hundredths for grain readings doesn't sound like super accurate territory but I don't know for sure. I still plan on getting one and doing some tests of my own just to see what happens. Thanks for the info.

  9. You really need to up your load some. That looks like it's on the very low end of the PF spectrum. It looks like from their load data that you should be up around 3.8 - 4.0 of TG. If you don't make the 125, you shoot for no score.

  10. i agree, its all entertainment. I shoot USPSA and am certain alot of the moving and shooting they do would be frowned upon. But it looks cool. Lol. Just like anything else on TV, the general public may not know any better, but the people who do actually have real world experience would say "nope not even close". Haha

That's exactly right! When I was living in Asia, friends of mine saw those movies and thought that is exactly what I did. It was very tempting to just say, "yup, exactly!" :)
