  1. I get a fair number of requests. There have been some excellent points made about what to include in your pitch. I don't want to repeat them but may touch on a few. 1) Attitude and character. It doesn't matter if you are a D class newbie or GM with a stack of wins, if you come off like an entitled douche it's game over. Odds are the sponsor will dig a little. How you carry yourself on the range is important. 2) Geographic range. Be very clear (without exaggeration) about what matches you always shoot, those you sometimes shoot, and matches you could potentially attend. Not only does the potential sponsor need to know how big an impact you might have, but also what sponsors spots he might have available. They may also be looking for a presence in a certain area. 3) Other current or past sponsors. Make a point of listing them all. Sometimes there are conflicts. Sometimes there are overlaps. If I have a guy looking for a Production gun and I know he is only shooting Production for some minor matches, I need to know that upfront. Burning a sponsor is bad juju. 4) Realistic expectations. Private jets, liquor and whores, valet gun cleaning, and unlimited training ammo surprisingly are not offered by most manufacturers. Dan Bilzerian might have a shooting team, but I suspect the rest offer more realistic things to there sponsored shooters. On the flip side, sponsored or not most folks are working out of there own pockets for most expenses, and work real jobs. Shooting is not a full time job for most, and a match schedule always has to be balanced with the shooters life. Key is communication about the matches you expect to shoot, and following up afterwords with pictures etc to satisfy the social media angle.
  2. From the factory, it can ship with, or without. For ATF approval, we may submit it in both forms. My hunch is ATF will not approve the version without a manual external safety. I assume that if that's the outcome, it may be possible to install the spacer after import. Still, let's wait until the ATF and lawyers confer. ?
  3. He's refering to the diameter of the pipe, not the width of the sight.
  4. I've been known to answer unknown callers with, "York Regional Police, Sex Crimes Unit, Offender Registry. What's your case file number and time of last check in...."
  5. Keep in mind that true prop guns are never used for anything else.
  6. Prop guns usually have the threaded restrictor towards the muzzle. The chamber itself is normal.
  7. I like country just fine thanks. The booth number is 2732, between the S&W and EOtech booths. My guess is there will be plenty of networking.
  8. Sounds more like a conversion to prop / movie gun.
  9. Ouch, I'm afraid we'll fall into the same category. In our case it's all just to showcase the product.
  10. This will be my first time and first trip to Nashville. Odds are during the day I will stay chained to the Eagle Imports / Grand Power booth, but the evenings should be entertaining. Any do's-don'ts to share?
  11. The mags are the same. There is a fairly high level of parts sharing where you'd expect. The trigger compared to the K100 has maybe 50% of the K100's DA travel distance. With no stacking or staging, it may come in higher on a trigger gauge than the K100 but feels lighter. There is a trade off in that the reset is nearly the full travel distance.
  12. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5U46nbF-Kbg The bad news, the paper chase means this striker fired model will likely only hit the U.S. in late 2015. The good. Holy heck, is the trigger on this sweet. I put about 100 rounds through it at the factory range and got schooled by the trigger. Pressing out while prepping the trigger lead to a few genuine surprise breaks. There is sweet f-all in the way of stacking. You are applying additional tension to the striker during the trigger stroke, but it feels more like a single action release. Stay tuned,
  13. The lever release is for the Mk6 or Mk7. It's not made for the Mk12. It uses a longer trigger guard tube with stops for the lever. If you install the tube wrong you wind up with the mag catch not extending fully and your mags dropping out.
  14. Expect pictures shortly on the website. For the US, we have to ride out the ATF approval process. The rest of the world may have them a heck of a lot earlier than I initially thought. ?
  15. Not me. Seems to be a cop gun. Not really competition minded. While we don't exclude the interest of the sporting market, the striker fired guns are designed around police and military end users. That said, the trigger on the pre production sample is so light and smooth I'm curious to see what the public think down the road. ?
  16. For the 147's, I aim for 900fps and the lowest 10 shots of 50 to be at least 875. I do load for the X-Calibur, but developed the load with my Mk6 GP6. It's been consistent in both of my X-Cals.
  17. I use 3.6gr VV N320 and Zero 147gr JHP's or 4.2gr VV N320 and Zero 125gr JHP-C.
  18. I suggest folks work backwards from the trigger in SA. With your finger in the ideal location in SA and your thumb and support hand mounted to the frame, is there any compromise in your grip? Add or reduce the grip so that you have nothing artificial about mounting the gun right the first time. For me the D back strap is ideal, but it's got to work for you.
  19. Mine is obviously s biased opinion. However, you've raised two points. 1) Is the fire sale mk7 K100 a good bargain? Hell yes it is. If you're more curious than anything, go for it. 2) Is the X-Cal worth 50% more than the new mk12 K100. Plain and simple, yes. The Xcal is more accurate, gentler shooting, and just plain handles better. It's essentially a 1050 vs 650 thing.
  20. Yes, it's not bad, but folks will notice the heavier weight and longer reset than the regular versions. If you need a decocker, ours is a very slick system. Still, I expect that most folks that are more into shooting than carrying will opt for the traditional system.
  21. The decockers won't be in the US until the spring or summer. The decocker is not a listed option for the X-Calibur. However, the Canadian distributor did order a portion of the X-Cals for the last order with them to gauge the response. If there is a demand, I imagine they will be available.
