  1. Carlos, The X-Calibur and K100 weigh about the same. The added weight of the X-Calibur's barrel is offset by the weight reduction in the slide. The net effect is the X-Calibur tracks even better than the K100.
  2. Welcome on board from yet another Dave X-Calibur fan. Sometime before I slip this mortal coil, I will see Victoria Falls. If I can eat a fresh tomato from Tara's farm while enjoying the sights, all the better.
  3. The subject of a plain serrated front sight was brought up by one of the South African dealers at IWA, and I've brought the request to the table. We used to offer one, but most people opted for the FO version. The X-Cal trigger does reward smooth control, and will remind you quickly if you get sloppy. I am very impressed with the most recent tweak. My Mk7's had the original hammers with no half cock notch. Smooth and light! The new hammers have a half cock notch and a crisper release and shorter reset. The engineers really outdid themselves.
  4. Just for a minute, imagine you are designing an adjustable rear sight. You have the sights set up so that it's dead on at 35 yards. How many inches of adjustment would you want to have in both directions?
  5. If the stars and moon align, and there are no surprise dragons to slay, we might see the X-Calibur here in July. Being more conservative, more likely this fall. I hate dragons. I really hate dragons.
  6. Muzzle flip is almost the wrong term for the X-Calibur. Where most guns have a predictable muzzle rise and fall with a given load, the X-Cal is more sight oscillation. I've had a number of experienced shooters stutter while trying to shoot for speed. The cause was between their ears. They paused to wait for the sights to come back on target, only the sight hadn't actually left the target. One they realized that quirk, it was smooth sailing.
  7. Please tell me the guy was arrested at the show..........
  8. We'll have one to Amidon for the full touchy-feely so that when we have the 2000 in the country the approval should be painless.
  9. The X-Calibur will run most lengths of ammo fine. Zero 125g JHP-C work if you keep the OAL to less than 1.143. (in my case, with 4.2gr N320 for 130PF) About the only tip I can offer is to make sure you leave a thin film of oil on the barrel face where it surrounds the breech. It acts as a thrust bearing and running it completely dry can cause the gun to choke. Leave it very lightly oiled, and it will keep on chugging.
  10. Be very sure that if you are ordering a holster for the Mk12 Grand Power guns to specify that it is a Mk12. The trigger guard is wider and it won't fit into a Ghost etc made for the Mk7. I know LHS can supply them. (Disclaimer - I'm the Canadian distributor for them.) I know that CR should have a gun by now to test. At last word, Ghost was still a wile away from producing the right block.
  11. Part of this is due to the e-commerce softwear designed for "virtual stores". Brick and mortar operations generally wouldn't want the hassle of dealing with back-order fulfillment when they might have to eat the shipping.
  12. Grand Power are going to be offering the boron nitride, titanium nitride and aluminum titanium nitride PVD finishes as options for the sporting line of pistols. I was able to handle the Boron Nitride finished guns at IWA this month and they really look sharp. I'm tempted to get the TiN finish on my next X-Calibur.
  13. I use the Dillon 1050 with the PW Autodrive kit and Mr.Bulletfeeder. I pre-process all my brass in two steps. (I know, sounds stupid to take a 1200 rph machine then slow it down, but there is a method to my madness.) I resize, deprime, and primer pocket swage only running the machine an auto while I clean my guns or inspect loaded ammo, etc. Brass that lands in the bucket will have been sized properly, have empty and prove primer pockets, and have no bent rims. I tend to collect it by the 5 gallon pail. I run sized brass through the machine for a second pass with most of the dies and swagger removed to simply prime the cases. Again, little real attention required so I can be working on something else. When I load ammo, all I need to focus on is keeping the powder and bullet hoppers topped up. 1200 perfect rounds an hour, hands free.
  14. I don't get double feed complaints often. (More like ever.) It sounds like a weak ejection problem. The ejector of the guns is massive, and I've yet to see one break. The P1 is a service grade gun built to function 24/7, so it should cycle with a healthy range of ammo and while in any acceptable state of cleanliness and lubrication. My first guess on the cause of the double feed is ammo. Any chance you're using lighter reloads? The magazine when empty seats fine and you don't have a compression issue with the baseplate and the bottom of the magazine well, but it gives you trouble when loaded with 15? Odd.
  15. I'm guessing it wouldn't be helpful to hand him that rule book wrapped in a fresh pair of unbunchable panties?
  16. If the principal observes that the class is on task, you're following the lesson plan left by the teacher, and isn't getting grief from the parents, you're good to go.
  17. Awesome! How much material is there from the top of the flange cut to the top of the base pad? Rather than drilling it out, it might be tidier to try and source the smaller keeper.
  18. www.freedomventures.ca/products/firearms EAA mess with the product names. Check out the distributors listings and compare the pretty pictures.... At todays exchange rates, multiply the price listed by 0.90 for the US$.
  19. With the exchange rates sliding, expect 15% increases in most imports this year.
  20. LOL, I'm under the impression they are now made in the Philippines. The question would seem to be has the quality improved?
  21. Anyone else find their screen frozen when trying to attach a picture?
  22. I'm actually having a separate discussion with them right now, pointing out the additional profit center available with the thousands of STI and CAI import owners. In a perverse way, I view it as the gravy on the roast beef.
  23. Just curious, but for those who've bought an SPS frame or complete gun recently, what was your impression? If you had a problem, how did the distributor handle it?
