  1. You can do one of two things- modify the followers or modify the slide stop. Take the top end off the gun, reinstall the slide stop. Insert a mag loaded with one round, slowly, and you'll be able to see what's pushing the slide stop up. The problem I had with old Paras, built on the gunsmith frame, was that there was enough slop/room in the magwell so the mags could rock back and forth, hitting the slide stop. I just modify the slide stop so it can't be activated by the magazine.
  2. The man behind it is Dudley Brown, the man behind Rocky Mountain Gun Owners. Yes, he's legit.
  3. Long drive is right...the result aren't up yet, how did you do?
  4. Search feature. There's a current thread on Range Carts.
  5. I carry a Les Baer Concealed Carry Lightweight. It's a Commander-sized pistol on a lightweight frame. I carried a Colt Combat Commander for many years but, as has been mentioned already, steel guns get heavy by the end of the day. This one runs 100%, as did my Colt, and as the name says, it's not as heavy.
  6. I don't know where people shoot on National Forest land, specifically. Maybe someone else here?
  7. Here's my solution, $89.95 at Home Depot. I need it to fit in the back of my Grand Cherokee, so I made the handle quick-disconnect with a linch pin replacing the bolt and nut. I added a piece of PVC umbrella holder, held in with 2 U-clamps with wing nuts. The sides all fold down. I fold the back down. With my gear bag and cooler in the cart there's a spot left to clean/reload mags, or have lunch, in the shade.
  8. Places to shoot... National Forest is legal. I shoot at Clear Creek County Sportsman's Club in Dumont. If you don't live in the town of Morrison, but in unincorporated Jeffco, you can shoot on your own property. It's legal as long as the "projectile" does not leave your property. In the town of Morrison, not sure.
  9. I ran into an unanticipated problem with mine. Last week, sitting on my portable stool, cleaning mags, thunk. My gun hits the ground. I thought it was because I didn't lock the holster, no harm done. This was my first match with the sideways C-More. Today, picking up brass, thunk, my gun hits the ground. Cr Speed, locked properly. The sight is moved inside-I'm right handed- enough so that when I sit or squat my thigh is putting enough pressure on it to pop the gun loose. I'm going to try raising the holster a bit to change this. I've been shooting USPSA matches since 1990, never dropped a gun before. Now, twice in two weeks. That aside, I really like the sideways mount. it's way easier for me to acquire the dot. I have the new Quinn mount. And no, after 20 years, I know not to reach down and pick my gun up...
  10. I'm glad this kind of stuff happens to other people..
  11. "9.05 METALLIC TARGETS ....(1) Metallic silhouettes in IPSC target configuration, e.g. Pepper Poppers, may score 10 points (the equivalent of two center hits) when struck down." Practical Shooting Handbook 6th Edition April 1992. Old school...
  12. If you're Front Range, there are two matches this weekend. Come and shoot.
  13. I bet I know where that came from. We used to be able to- by the rule book- designate 10 point Poppers, so a no-shoot one would be 20. Harsh, even when it was ok. It's not, by today's rules. 5 points only.
  14. Well, first off, the shooter on your squad was/is wrong/mistaken. There is no requirement that he described, the perforations serve that purpose. As for the rest of it...? A little more info before everyone piles on..Comstock? Virginia count? One box? One shooting area?
  15. Not very humane though, I bet the wife/neighbors will love it when youv'e got a rabbit screaming in your garden at 2 A.M. Nope, all they hear in my yard is the coyote pack yipping.
  16. Seriously- low fencing will work, as will Havahart traps. Rat traps would probably work just as well.
  17. Foxes, coyotes, owls, and hawks do the job for me. Probably not in Cincinnatti though, that'd be just coyotes.
  18. I have lots of hummingbirds, 3 different kinds. They show up here starting at the beginning of May. If you haven't witnessed hummingbird wars, you're in for a treat.
  19. Fingers. It's good exercise, they don't cost anything more than what I've already invested in them, and I've already put the training time in with them.
  20. Yep, 10.2.10. Speak with the match director before the match starts, explain your situation, show him the rule if he's not familiar with it.
  21. Startron. Sta-bil doesn't deal with the ethanol issue.
  22. I use the stick shift. I've left the nut loose on the bottom, so the handle is free to rotate without the ball rotating in my hand. Last night I realized the nut had fallen off my small primer one- no clue when, it didn't matter. The handle stays in without it. The roller handle looks like it would give me tendonitis...
  23. I can't recall the concept existing "way back then".
  24. My Limited guns are 1 3/4, My SS is 2 1/2. My new Open gun is 3 pounds, which will be addressed after some othe issues are resolved.
