  1. Found what I was looking for at Grams Engineering.
  2. Looking to add a dot sight in a side mount application. Don't think I'll have enough rail to go with a cantilever, so wanting advice on where to look for a offset ring configuration coming directly off of the top mounted scope tube. Would then use an Aimpoint or something similar Suggestions & websites appreciated! Thanks!
  3. If you want an open blaster built, check out Dan Bedell's at shootersconnection.com . Great gun for the money & fantastic service before & after the sale!
  4. Know it looks like your mind is made up, but if not too late, ought to consider a Bedell Shorty...or at least make a comparison. Just my $.02 worth.
  5. You really can't go wrong with a 6-MOA for all-around. Good shooting...!
  6. I bought one of Dan Bedell's Shorty's through Shooters Connection. After using it for about 3/4 of last season, I like the setup Dan goes with. For Major, mine came fitted with the RecoilMaster, but since I also wanted to shoot Steel using Minor loads, also purchased a standard reverse plug & use an ISMI spring. Both work fine.
  7. 1. In my opinion, the experience with the Limited gun will build more skills with front sight acquisition, recoil control, target transitions, etc. When you go to Open, there is more reliance on how the dot is tracking through recoil. Not that there certainly aren't required skills for this as well...they sure are fun to shoot...not to mention when the eyes start to go, just show me the dot! 2. Not really...some new Shorties are set up well, & with the right recoil system & powder charge, are just as easy to get accustomer to. (Switched about 2 months ago from a 5" to a Bedell Shorty with the Recoil Master setup.) 3. Lots of theories on compensators (perform a search to get a variety of opinions). My new Shorty has 2 holes on top, plus the Bedell 7-port comp. However, I have switched to IMR SR-7625 powder (not that slow of a burning one), but gun is very smooth. So, how much gas am I really venting? Used VV-3N37 for the 1st few hundred rounds & really can't tell much difference with the way the gun handles, & this is a slow burning powder between N340 & N350. Plus, VV is tough to find right now & much more expensive then IMR.
  8. Have my first "hybrid" setup with a Bedell Shorty. Initially, Dan went with 3 holes on top & the Bedell comp, but has since went back to 2. At least three other factors contribute to "felt" recoil & dot bounce that I'm not sure have been mentioned: 1) recoil spring setup...standard guide rod vs. recoilmaster, 2) grip hold / technique, & 3) powder used. Lots of things to consider & since all guns shoot differently, try several setups & figure out what personally works best. Then, shoot, shoot, shoot!
  9. I'll have to drive you around more often now! ...maybe even buy you Wendy's on the way home from Cville? Will you remember me when you start Glockin' professionally? All joking aside, great accomplishment! Now, to get my G35 out & start shooting Limited again...putting those open blasters away for a year!
  10. Don't know much about the Sprinco's, but with the standard guide rod, start with an 8-lb. ISMI with 1 blue shock buff at the rear with your Major load. Keep in mind, gun MUST FIRST be reliable, with slide coming completely home. If the 8 doesn't work, go to a 9, etc. Likewise, wouldn't stay with N-340. Go to 3N37, or better yet & much cheaper, try IMR 7625. My $.02 worth.
  11. Standard gun can be bought for about $500 less, if Chuck & Dan are still offering this one.
  12. Give Chuck Bradley a call at Shooters Connection & inquire about the Bedell Custom guns available. "Shorty's" seem to be the hot ticket, but will also build a 5" if desired.
  13. Don't forget some of this could be "technique" or how you grip the gun. I shoot with an Open GM & he (like most of us) want to get the most out of the gun with saving $$$ if can stay away from the cost of exotic powders. Go to this site for some ideas on loads: http://home.columbus.rr.com/jmaass/ipscload.htm There's a lot of options...test run a few...best wishes in open gun success. Lot of fun!
  14. Test drive a Bedell Shorty if you can. Just got one in 38 Super & pretty pleased so far. Dan makes a quality gun for the $$$$.
  15. Not...need to talk to Chuck to understand you can save some $$$ if you want. But for the difference in what you get, more than worth the additional.
  16. [ What is the higher-end package???????? ] Answer to this better served by either Chuck Bradley at Shooters Connection or Dan Bedell, but there is a "standard" package for less price, then the "higher end". Included in the latter are AET barrel, Recoilmaster, Koenig hammer, Aftec extractor, custome stipple job on grip, slide racker, EGW or STI slide stop, etc., etc.
  17. If you haven't already committed, I just got my Bedell Shorty last week. Although, I haven't shot an IPSC match with it yet due to testing some loads first, I have shot a local steel match using Minor PF loads & switching the RecoilMaster out for a standard guide rod & 8-lb. ISMI spring. Fit & finish of the gun is very good & I went with a STI short, flat-faced trigger (same as on my 5" STI GrandMaster). Dan Bedell is a great guy to deal with & informs you on progress as the build is coming along. It looks like he will beat the time he initially tells you the gun will be done, but not sure of his backlog yet. I can send you a pic if you'd like. (Just contact me via email since I've not posted a digital image to this site.) I went with the higher-end package, but did not hardcrome yet.
  18. A final note on my problem...if you have trouble with intensity, try another battery first before doing anything else! I replaced a battery purchased at a discount department store with one from Radio Shack and back in business...intensity is where it should be with the standard switch still in place! I guess a lesson learned!
  19. Another note following a call to C-More today over this issue. In addition to what cpty1 found out, they will also provide a trade-in discount for a brand new sight, if this would be a viable option. In my case, I could have a problem with the standard switch mechanism due to some age. If I would want to upgrade to the click, this will be the $69, plus shipping. If I want some rebody done due some scuffing, obviously this will add to the cost. This could be getting to the point of justifying the trade-in & just getting a brand new sight (with the click switch) at a decent discount. Oh...they'd also let me keep the dot module & battery off the old one! Nice company to deal with!
  20. Cpty1---thanks for doing the homework...looks like sending the sight back to C-More for some work would be in my best interests & most economical. Henry---yes, have an Arredondo glare shield over the module.
  21. Tightloop makes a great point regarding the commerical reloading option. Been there & done that personally (crimp being the largest culprit)--along with the investment in an open gun...do similarly with buying a Dillon progressive press! You'll be glad you did!
  22. I've sent an email inquiry to C-More as well. Usually, Kristy Woodward answers my questions. I'll post what response she, or whoever answers the question, says. What I'll be interested in is if they can repair an older standard switch unit...I gather they probably can. However, normally when you bring this kind of problem to them, the resolution is to replace the module.
  23. I've got 2 C-Mores...1 with standard switch adjustment & the other click. The standard switch has an Arredondo glare shield, new dot module, & battery, plus have cleaned the projection to ensure no crud over it. Even with adjustment all the way up, the standard is not near as bright as the click style and is sometimes difficult to pick up in bright sunlight. Is this common? Can't switch them due to different mounts.
  24. You're doing the right thing by testing them through the chrono first. I'm also new to the reloading circuit, but do know enough that you can't be careful enough with changes, no matter how insignificant they may appear. Let us know what the results are so can confirm or silence opinions.
  25. Chris, I have the Lee FCD on both 40 & 38 Super Dillon 650 toolheads with no issues. Both of mine are positioned in relation to the shellplate as yours are & have plenty of adjustment. I know I haven't helped you with your problem, but I'd get hold of Lee to see what ideas they may have. Also, a regular on the forum (Flexmoney) could likely know the answer as he also uses Lee's. If he doesn't post a response soon, email him at flexmoney@aol.com & direct your issue to him.
