  1. May have to make the cave the side pistol shoot so that everyone can have a chance to experience rather than limiting to one group or the other, then change targets every day or so to keep it interesting, i don't want to have anyone getting bored you know!
  2. I appreciate all the encouragement and offers of help and assistance and will be taking ya'll up on it as we get moving closer. I think we have an all star group of folks working to bring together a monumental event, as Linda posted we have the Linda Chico driving the stats side of the house so we know that will be in great order, Kurt Miller as Range Master keeping the peace on the range and we are pulling together the finest group of RO's possible to ensure all the stages run smoothly and fairly. Looking forward to a fantastic event and year ahead To address one question over the weekend, if you are shooting different Level (Pro and Am) you will be on different squads, shooting different stages, so logistics may be a bit challanging if you need to be there for each other to shoot, however I'm sure a good squad can provide most needed logistics other than the moral support, to make it doable and enjoyable.
  3. You musta watched me shoot stage 8 at Ft Benning, I know exactly how long that takes, about 1 place in the overall match jc
  4. Great balls of fire, guess I need to make it to this I need an organizer, oh wait that little blond girl already tried that As always we expect a great match and look forward to it jc
  5. Similiar to what they said in Raiders of the Lost Ark, "Choose wisely" Oh yeah, scoring will be International Multi Gun Ass. / SMM3G/ DPMS style,
  6. You're absolutely right, you can't push 500 through the same stages in a weekends time. There in lies the Pro Am nature, the Pro's will shoot one set of stages and the AM's will shoot a similiar but seperate set of stages. Essentially 2 matches running at the same time being scored seperate and having seperate prize tables, so that you compete against only those in that division(Pro or Am). However everything else is fully mixed, side matches, dinners, finalle shoot off. Only able to do this at a facility as large as Rockcastle and with lots of help from experienced RO's. Goal was to allow more people into the event and have a great social event with new and return competitors, gaining exposure to the sport and the sponsors that support it. We are aiming to have fun and shoot lots of bullets
  7. That's pretty much it, Pro will go to the prize table in order of finish, AM will get trophy(recognition of some nature) for winners and will go to the prize table in a randomn draw order to pick their prize Each division will have seperate prize tables based on the number of entries in the division, so not picking off the same table, but great prizes on both
  8. Once all the final details are worked out we will do an online registration similiar to what Linda Chico has done for Ft Benning 3 gun for the last few years, anticipate this will be mid Feb, far enough in advance so everyone can make plans once they know they are in. Squadding schedule has you shoot one hour then off for an hour to allow shooting side match, getting to next stage to watch, checking out vendors, etc Shooting times will begin at 8am and finish shooting at 5, pending no weather delays, we have plenty of daylight in reserve for issues and plenty of time for socializing afterwards and checking out sponsors and each others gear (and maybe having a pint with an old friend or new) We are working to have dinner/ pig pull type events for all to engage in in the evenings I plan on it running smooth enough that I can bring a hammock and just hang around jc
  9. Just for a little food for thought the entry fee for Pro will be $250 and Am side is $125 thanks for the compiments I think, I can't believe I got myself into this, again For those of you that shot my old Shotgun matches you may see a similiar stage to the helicopter come back if I can make the timing work Now I just need a good pilot for the truck, maybe the same guy is available jc
  10. Be careful Pat, I could use a man of your experience to help, your entry may come at a price
  11. There is no official limitations to entering either catagory, just depends if you want to shoot for a lesser entry fee and a randomn draw prize table or go head to head in the big event , also there will be a limited amount of slots in each event so we are hoping folks enter the event they are best suited, but it's a free country. The goal is to allow greater participation and include more of the folks from waiting list and more newer competitors that are always a little hesitant to enter other 3 gun events. This event should allow accomodating all the regular 3 gun competitors and hundreds of newer folks wanting to give it a try, and allow a lot of interaction between experienced and newer participants. with everyones support I think we can make this an enormous milestone in 3 gun and shooting for future growth jc
  12. Enough speculation it is now official, there will be a new 3 Gun event at Rockcastle Shooting Center Aug 26- 28, 2011 sponsored by AR15.com/ Rockcastle and Brownells. This event is being planned to be all about the shooters and having a great time. I will be match director and Mr. Weakhand Kurt Miller has agreed to assist me by being the Range Master, assisted by the great Rockcastle staff, a bunch of friends and industry support we intend to make this the best possible match for everyone lucky enough to get in. In order to increase the participation we have developed a plan to have a Pro Am match and run the two divisions, professional and ametuer at the same time with combined social and side events similiar to what is done at major golf and other events. This will take 3 gun to the next level allow 500+ competitors making the largest 3 gun event in history. There will be a ProAM Charity Cup event combining teams with a shooter from Pro and Am sides to see who's team comes out on top to raise money and support a charity and see who has bragging rights for the year. It will be a great time just seeing how all the team building happens and who gets teamed up with the shooting super stars and celebrities. Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun side match events will be occuring throughout the weekend to allow head to head competition between all competitors with cash paybacks. Sponsor firearms will be available for use in winning the cash. Stages will be designed by well known 3 gun competitors to allow challanging, fun and achievable stages. The stages for each division will be similiar but not exact. Pro Division will be shooting heads up for prizes in order of finish while Am Division will be competing for trophy, recognition and a randomn draw prize table (at a reduced entry fee compared to Pro division). As the largest 3 gun gathering ever, we are working to develop the richest prize table and provide the greatest shooter value possible. We are also planning on several selected instructors to provide training classes a couple days prior and after the match to allow combining a training class with the competition. Website and details will be coming out as quickly as possible, online registration is expected to be around Feb 14, 2011 We are working arrangements with local hotels and those details will be provided as soon as available Please remember to support the Sponsors that support our events and your shooting needs. Be patient and plan on spending some time in beautiful Kentucky in August with us. thanks Jeff
  13. VTAC Rocks!, Padded for all day long use, non padded for match use, have used on shotgun, AR's and bolt / hunting guns, certainly adds to the stability of some shooting positions jc
  14. If you have a buzz on already today, I want to be in that squad cause I know what happens after hours I guess we'll have to let Darby shoot with us too
  15. IMHO my .02 I have gone back and watched video of me in my early competition days and know that I have no room to speak of anyone else who is working on their training or getting into competition, I can eat a ham sandwich between the time I get into a shooting box and get the first shot off, it kills me, I sit and shout at the video "pull the trigger, come on, do it it isn't that hard, pull the trigger, NOW, do it already!!. So I certainly agree with whomever posted about openning our sport and greeting new shooters to it needs to be the best experience ever, weather from SASS, AR15, LE or Womens Baptist Anti- Terrorist League. We have a gathering of the best people in the world in our sport and we need to show it every chance we get, and not sure some of the comments here reflect that, may consider that edit feature, or not. As they say "honesty is only possible with timing and tact" otherwise it don't fly so well at all times. I am certainly as opinionated as anyone out there but I typically prefer and try to be specific and not generalize or stereotype entire groups ok back to work, have a fantastic Christmas season and we will see you all next year jc
  16. B)I think Mark explained it perfectly, on the carrier from the mag is not ghost loading, and should be ok, no advantage gained, but what do I know
  17. "ghost loading" in my experience is when you put a round on the carrier when you are putting a round into the chamber (hence the term loading)to increase your starting capacity, not just having a round on the carrier that is still within the capacity limits of a division. This is just dropping a round out of the magazine tube that is within approved capacity, that isn't ghost loading, whcih is the ability to force one on the carrier from above before closing the bolt. But I have only been shooting an M1 since 1988
  18. most guns will be bolt, that is the norm due to accuracy, knowing your blaster and ammo would allow anyone to do well much more than a particular operating platform. It is timed but not like practical match, as I understand it you have a certain time to get the hits, faster than that don't buy you anything extra, accuracy is the key here jc
  19. No slacking due to weapons platforms please, I am going to run an AR platform, I think the range and wind doping will be a much bigger learning challange than the platform differences jeff
  20. Bennie Cooley and several others are using it, I know Dianne on the FN team for sure too, they all seem to like it, most have adapted to use with the holsters and carriers they used perviously, i have one but haven't taken the time to try it out yet as I've been busy, may get to it before FT Benning
  21. Oh, come on fellas, let's get back to the thread topic specifically, "Does USPSA need a classification system"? hmmmmmm, by the over whelming response, NO! But if they want to go ahead, but it won't mean anything to anyone out here shooting outlaw, Main Stream, full to capacity, very popular 3 gun matches anyway, and will add no value to local level matches either as teh majority of us see it. Concentration on shooter value, not bureaucratic churn will increase participation See ya'll at he range
  22. It is limited to 100 so sign up early there has been lots of interest here in the SE
