How about an online form. Use your registration number or something else to enter the information. Automatically populates into the database. You can have a list of people who have filled out the online form at registration. If they haven't, they get to do the paper version. Should greatly cut down on the amount of data entry. That's what the plan would be but its about building it all up btween everything else, cause if you do the math on 50+ datafields and 500+ shooters that is too much to fat finger in, has to be able auto populate Great minds think alike jc

I know we can get the top folks to share their info, no problem but I think there is much value in seeing what everyone is using, we will continue to try to arrive at a executable plan for doing this, I have a couple ideas that may work now that we have all the entrants email addresses it won't have to be a global thang. Its not so much a matter of getting forms filled out its populating a datbase to allow sorting and data mining thanks for resurfacing this, I will move it up my ladder right behind, sponsors now that registration is winding down Jeff quick list I came up with 51 fields I would like to collect for the survey
-
Funny you guys should mention the survey idea, we had already been discussing that. Fillling them out is the easy part, populating a database with probably 25 fields of sloppily written jargin for 500+ shooters is the problem, one possible way this can really work is to have it populated in electrons by the shooters, which could be done while at the match. We will continue to work this as we want to see the data as well. jc

Chuck, Distribution for the match is some 60+ RO's shooting on Thursday plus 255 shooting Pro and 200 shooting AM shooting in the main match. I am still holding a handful of those slots back for some sponsors that are still finalizing and have not yet identified their shooters. As Linda said we have quite a number of the normal Pro type guys helping to RO and run the match so it left a few more unexpected slots available in Pro, but I think they will certainly fill. I think we've easily reached our goal and will have over 500 shooters . Bless our dinner sponsors as that sponsorship really got big with this number of shooters, be sure and thank all of the sponsors as you see them, they are really stepping up to support your guys adventures! Bushmaster, JP Rifles, Black Hills Ammunition and Cheaper than Dirt all finalized their participation yesterday, Happy Presidents Day Jeff

Well more good news about the match, looks like we are going to have 3 custom STI pistols at the match, planning on having one the Pro table, one on AM and probably going to have a raffle for the other to raise money for a worthwhile charity. Be sure and support all the sponsors who so generously support our sport. Jc

Thanks to all for your patience, mine was a llttle edgey last night too, but now it is a new day and everyone looks like they are in and I don't expect these last slots to make it through the day Well looks like even with the link/timing issue last night everyone that wanted to get in should be in as we have just a handful of Pro slots left and about 20 AM slots left, I guess the match was just the right size pdf app for those who can't open the word doc from the home page rockcastle_App.pdf Now lets get back to work on sponsors and stages while you start practicing jc

Great news, generous sponsors continue to roll in, Hornady who has supported many 3 gun and shooting events has taken an even bigger step up for 3 gun and your match and now will be one of the overall match sponsors with AR15.com and Brownells companies. Making things even better LaRue Tactical is coming aboard as a sponsor and is talking about bringing the BBQ trailer, I hope that isn't too far to pull it, I love some good eats, we'll see how that comes together Speaking of good eats our friends at CMMG have generously stepped up to be one of the dinner sponsors and will be taking care of the tab on the feeding frenzy one evening of the event, for those of you who have been to Rockcastle that usually means , a BBQ hog or maybe two or three for this size of a group They are not alone by any means for sponsoring the event, DPMS, Bushmaster, Remington, Kel Tec, DSA are just a few of the folks stepping up to make this the event of the year Checkout the website to keep up with all the sponsors as we continue bringing this together http://rockcastle3-gunproam.com/ Jeff

Charles, Other than RO's and shooters sponsored by match contibutors no one will know who is in until after registration. Yes you have to use this system and no it has not worked easily on the behind the scenes for the Ft Benning matches, so sorry if you don't like it but it is the system that will be used and I wish both you and your traveling partner good luck, as you will have the same opportunity as everyone else who wants to get in. It's always easiier from the outside to say how to run a match. Having been on the shooter side and the match administration for more than a couple matches I certainly understand both sides of the coin. Less than a week til registration, best of luck to all jeff A-6533

As I've said before the AM side is intended for the new shooter, if you've shot Benning, and are a C USPSA or above you are probably not new, you've got some experience, but then again I am not going to make that decision for anyone. And unfortunately this will be like Ft Benning on registration, plan is (emphasis on plan) to have an online registration on Feb 15 where everyone clicks the mouse and tries to get in. Yes there will be disappointment, even though we are bumping it all up to 500 in the match, AR15.com's newsletter which includes match announcement, has gone out to their 150,000 subscribers, it is on 3 Gun Nation, on here and who knows where else. I wish everyone could get in but I think we will turn away quite a few interested shooters, I would recommend trying to register for Pro if you are not a true newer shooter as I think the number of entries may actually be less there than in AM, but what do I know I took this job. FB3GDQ, I think I will have you and I give a clinic on how to avoid being DQ'ed!!

Great discussion guys, lots of new ideas, ya'll feel free to give them a try, for this year we are going to try open and Tac in Pro and Tac in Am, many other things to work out and get done. Luckily I actually practiced pistol this weekend, first time since Benning, my bimonthly practice. And in response to one post, there is no ruling to force anyone into Pro or Am it will be shooters choice, but there are limited slots to each side of the match unfortunately, we have to maintain the proper balance for the match timetable to work thanks all Jeff
-
It's no different, we will have RO's that choose to shoot the AM side and some that shoot the Pro stages, shooters choice based on thier experience. People can have tons of experience and be great RO's and due to other factors still feel they are more comfortable in AM. All of the RO's in the match are PRO RO's in my book, I will let them decide on the shooting aspects
-
Those guys are't meant to be left out, they can shoot irons or RDS in the Tactical division, they don't have to go buy an optic and they can see how they stack up against the whole lot and the stages are being designed where they should be able to complete with those blasters and it doesn't affect how they go to the prize table because its random draw

New 3GN rules
benelli2 replied to abn-rgr's topic in Multi-gun Rules / Stage Design / Match Administration
Whatever, the rules will probably change before the year is out anyway, like last year! -
Pro side rifle targets will be about 300 yds, everyone should be able to reach those and dope whatever wind we may have. I didn't want any changing wind conditions to be determining the outcome of the match depending on winds and when folks shoot it due to squadding. No worries on entering into Pro, we all know only a true few at the top are Pro and have full rides to do this. jc
