  1. SSP- MA received a match bump atthe Louisiana State IDPA regional.
  2. I started shooting IDPA using XD9 tactical. After shooting my buddy's full size M&P with a Burwell trigger job I made the switch when the m&p PRO hit the shelves and haven't looked back. The grip is much more comfortable and my shooting improved dramatically as a result. Just recently picked up an M&P 45 to shoot in CDP.
  3. While IDPA is great for becoming familiar with your chosen handgun, it is also a game. I used my carry gun in the beginning but switched to a competition only gun to better my chances at winning the game. Besides a small number, I would say that the majority of shooters use different guns for competition and carry, at least that's the way it is at my club.
  4. Welcome to Texas. The guys at CT IDPA are great to shoot with and if you ever make it farther south there are matches in Waco, Temple and Copperas Cove.
  5. Don't worry Paul, I too have shot that same chrono, only I shot the support rods for the screens.
  6. Or you could use something like Carousel cause you came back around to where you started. Can't wait to see the new blaster.
  7. I guess using a name based on the pistol you are currently shooting doesn't quite work when switch so often.
  8. My search turned up empty so, what do you pay for local matches? My local club has ordered a set of SC plates and plan to get matches going soon. Also we thinking of holding some sort of Spring/Summer multi-week league ona week night, does any one have any experience with this sort of thing? I was thinking 10-12 weeks must shoot 6 matches to qualify for end of league awards. Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.
  9. My local club held it's first of three night matches this year. We shot 4 no light/ low light stages. It is quite an eye opener for most of the shooter to the difficulty of shooting at night and the importance of having gear that runs. Clearing malfunctions and reloading with a flashlight in hand is unfamiliar to most but a very important skill. Also don't try to load your flashlight into the gun.
  10. Just heard that friend of mine went through the deployment readiness center yesterday. Thankfully he wasn't there today. I'm praying for the all those involved and their families.
  11. +1 for Burwell. I have been very happy with the triggers he did both of my PROs. I also have a buddy that has had a couple of triggers done by Burwell and he also has been extremely satisfied with them.
  12. I had similar problems when I first got my 550. I sanded the bar with some 600 grit to really smooth it up then I polished it with a buffing wheel on the dremel. +1 for loosening up on the allen screws. I also use graphite on the bar.
  13. Total 55.58 (4down) SSP EX
  14. The M&P Pro is SSP legal. At least in the clubs I shoot the PRO has at least caught the GLOCK if not passed it in popularity.
  15. No pic but just saw this in DC. "ISUE4U"
  16. Just bear in mind that Austin (and Travis county in general) is the most liberal, big blue D, and tree hugging area of Texas. {edited to get the colors right} +1 That's why I won't move any closer. Being an hour away is perfect for the weekend visit but I do thave to deal with politics of the city/county.
  17. Congrats. I also received a bump to SSP Expert (2nd out of 20).

    M&P 9

I had the same problem with my second PRO. S&W replaced the barrel no problem. Anyway I am on my 3rd PRP and all three have run 100%.

    Goal: 25 Straight

Congratulations. I still have the hat that we shot after my first 25 straight. Way to go.
  20. I voted for gun handling. The newbies and some of the oldies are equally bad. +1 for what Steve J said.
  21. Give her my congratulations. That's great. Y'all should come to the Ladies shoot free match this weekend at Temple.
  22. I totally agree that he was doing his job but it was the manner in which it was handled that bothered me the most. If they simply would have asked about my whereabouts on the day in question, we could have had it resolved in a matter of minutes. Saving both his and my time.
