  1. Hah! Anyone can reload a shotgun fast....the real question is, How fast can you empty one? (Because my reload-fu is weak ) Erik
  2. Mel, Sorry, but you're out of luck. All of the MS surplus is gone at this moment. The stuff that is around has about doubled in price. I would put a scope on that AR10 and turn it into a precision pig slayer. Erik
  3. Trap, 8" seems pretty excessive. How much did you heat it up? Mag dump, Beta dump? Erik
  4. Mike, Don't be so quick to abandon the M4. Being slightly more compact than a 20" setup, you might pick up some time on the up close & fast stages. (Just for you George ) Erik
  5. All, Could someone please tell me who handled the prize table FFL transfers at the SMM3G match? I need to get the company name or the FFL holder's number for my dealer. TIA, Erik
  6. Brendan, I would highly recommend you check out the Weaver 1-3x20 classic variable. You should be able to pick one up for about $170. It's a very underrated scope. It has an excellent field of view, clear glass, good cross-hairs, true one power on the low end, and it is relatively compact. I used one for several years and was quite successful with it. In fact, I still have it on my back-up rifle. Don't overlook this scope, it will serve you well. Erik
  7. How deep is the staking? If it's just slight, you can probably just torque right through it. You probably only have to back off the lock ring about a quarter turn. Then you can rotate the tube out of the lower receiver. If it's very deep and strong, you may have to sacrifice the buffer tube and purchase another one. Sorry if it's not very helpful. Erik
  8. There are only two situations when you can have too much ammunition.... On fire or drowning. Erik
  9. A good rifle compensator will make all the difference. I would strongly consider getting one. Then see what happens with your second shots. The adjustments you make will be more subtle and not be so hard to incorporate into your technique. Erik
  10. Stubbi, That is normal wear, don't worry about it. Over time, you will start to see a parabolic crown around the back edge of the blast baffle bores holes. I wouldn't be concerned about wearing out the comp until either it cracks or the blast baffle bore holes become irregular due to erosion. Until then, shoot fast, repeat as necessary. Erik
  11. I run Thermolds for practice, because I can drop them and not worry about deforming or cracking the feed lips. They are either going to break of bounce back into shape, no deformation. For matches, any reputable Mil-Spec magazine will work. I would recommend changing the follower to a Mag-pul anti-tilt follower and check for fit and function. Make sure the magazine will drop free when fully loaded, half loaded, and empty. After that, you should be pretty good. Erik
  12. Here is a better picture of the compensator. It's only available at Forum dealer CPWSA. Erik
  13. Yep, Phil, Seeklander, and I are running Leupold CQT's, but I will be doing some T&E on the Nightforce 1-4's soon. I'll post a report. Here's another video from the US Nationals. Notice all the targets are zebra or crammed with no-shoots. I also tripled some targets right at the end. Truth be told...I didn't need the shots, the rifle was shooting so flat and well, I just couldn't get off the trigger. Erik
  14. L9x25, You can see some poor pics at CPWSA's website. I'll try to get some better ones later this week. SS, Yeah, it was pretty interesting. When I leaned forward, the whole nose of the boat went down. I thought I was going to start taking on water. It was definitely interesting. Any little movement caused the whole boat to shift around. You had to be perfectly still or else you'd be all over the place. I did load the rifle. The first round had a bad primer. Found the round after the stage and it had a good firing pin indent, just didn't go bang. Erik
  15. Nope, it's a wide open gas block with a standard mil-spec bolt and bolt carrier. I imagine it will be a little better with the adjustable and lightened stuff. Erik
  16. I'm trying out my first video postings. Here are a couple of quick vids of the Lund/SJC Titan comp in action. This is from the Ft. Benning 3-gun match. It features Phil Strader with a 16" AR and me with a 20" AR. Here is another one from the DPMS 3-gun match. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t5E5ovU6j4g Erik Edit- Ugh! This thing is running so slow. Are there any better hosting services than youtube?
  17. I'm for 30 rounds in Limited and Tactical. Sorry, I just am. Erik
  18. RS I agree with Erik, 2750 is going to be a tad out of reach with a 17". I would think you'll come in right around high 26 low 2700 fps. I run 75's at 2800, but that's with a 20" barrel. Don't put too much emphasis on reaching some magical fps. At 300-400 yards, you won't notice the extra 50-75 fps. If you're going with a 17" barrel, I would recommend you try some slightly faster burning rifle powders. You're going to need a little quicker powder to get those 77's up to speed in a 17" barrel. Erik
  19. FWIW, I did not care for the lightened bolt option. While the lightened bolt does allow the Benelli to run some softer ammunition, the increased bolt speed felt like it hit me harder in the shoulder. If possible, I would recommend that you shoot a lightened BC next to a standard setup and then decide if it's for you. If you decide the lightened BC is the way to go, then contact Benny. He's been a pioneer in advocating and running a lightened BC setup. He will reduce the BC properly so it won't crack on you. Erik
  20. And since you asked...I am currently tweaking the new 308 version of the Lund Titan comp. It's on my DPMS 308 and should be ready soon. I know....useless without pics Can I do that to myself? Erik Stubbi, Nice pics. I like how the finish on the comp matches the rifle. It should serve you very well in HM. Erik
  21. If I must be the one...then okay. ...worthless without pics. Erik
  22. Not sure yet, but I do know my agency will want it to be ASAP once they give the go ahead. I'd like to at least have a starting point for searching for a new home. This process will be the prime example of "Hurry up and wait....then get your ass in gear!) Hitman, What should I know about water rights? I assume if I'm in a sub-division it won't matter, but I should check them out if I buy separate property and look to build? Erik
  23. When you think of the Worlds great military forces does India pop up? You would think with all their computer technology, software genuises, and nuclear knowhow that they could produce some quality ammo, but they don't. I would use Wolf ammunition before I used Indian. For some independent verification, go to http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=3&f=16 This thread has various discussions about surplus ammo. I'm sure you'll find a thread about Indian surplus. Erik
