  1. if you are certain you will only reload 9mm or pistol calibers then a SDB will be fine. but i suggest a 550, in case you want todo rifle calibers. you could easily reload 700 in an evening on a 550
  2. nothing happens, the primer thats in the primer cup stays where its at
  3. just order from brian its $8.99 shipping for a set of dies and the super swage
  4. if thats the case then dont get the 1050 and if you really dont want to swage yourself, then send to these guys they will swage is for you http://www.custombrassprocessing.com/PRICES.html i have no affiliation to them
  5. was it a new lot of bullets? most bullets have a variation at the tip measure to the ogive and i bet they are pretty much the same
  6. yep, first couple times it will scare ya but now i make sure to pay attention to rod in the primer tube, so when it starts to get low im ready for the buzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  7. I usually just load them up and tumble the live rounds till its off
  8. im alittle confused when you say that you lose speed with the 650 because of the lube process? the lubing process is the same for the 650 and 550. You still have to remove the lube if you are using the 550 i have both machines and have loaded rifle on both. The 650 with casefeeder is much faster, because you are not having to take the time to pick up a piece of brass and index the shell holder with the 650 you can pretty much just sit there and pull the handle mindlessly (while sizing) and i have used One Shot with no problems on rifle rounds. i just put a bunch of brass into a ziplock and give a REALLY good spray, mix the bag, and spray again. With that said i prefer the dillon lube as a little goes a long way
  9. the part im talking about is the upper left black piece it takes all of 5 seconds to remove, and does not affect any other part of the press. i do it all the time when im first working up a load and basically using the machine like a single stage
  10. to stop the primer feed: remove the black angled thingy:D from the top front of the frame. it just takes an allen wrench. its the part that the primer advance arm hits when you raise the press. as for the case feed, the easiest way is to just turn off the case feeder and empty the case holder tube hope that made sense:blink:
  11. have you tried the manual that is on dillons website (or if you have the manual that came with the press) pretty sure it goes through all the steps
  12. Congrats!! just dont do what i did and drill the holes too far back so the handle cant make a full down swing:blink:
  13. if your wanting to save a little more money i would say go without the bullet tray. i have had my 550 and 650 for a few years now and never needed it. I just have my container of bullets (coffee can, tupperware etc...) to the left of the press. I just put it on top of something else so it give the same height that the bullet tray does. your die set will be fine
  14. One shot does not work for rifle cases. They will get stuck. you must be doing it wrong. i have used one shot for many years without a single stuck case. i put a bunch of brass in a gallon ziplock baggie. then you spray the one shot into the bag, be very liberal with the spray then close the bag and roll the brass around and you are good to go
  15. dont look at it as "settling" for the 550. its a great machine and you will love it. I will never get rid of mine. Only reason i have a 650 is ebay had the 35% cashback going on last year, and i just couldnt turn down a 650 for $330:D. But the 550 would have been just fine.
  16. thanks if i have any more problems thats what i will do
  17. got it figured out, thanks to someone on another site the plastic piece bolted to the left side of the frame with 2 cap screws on a tongue/groove slide is what i adjusted until the shellplate was in the right position and it worked!!!!
  18. whats weird is when i raise the platform, the punch becomes centered. so perhaps the indexing cam (if thats what you call it) is out of whack i did not have this problem when loading 45 and the machine is pretty much brand new. i loaded maybe 500 45's
  19. ok so i changed over calibers from 45 to 223 on my 650 last night. This was my first time changing calibers, so i may have missed something, but i followed the manual exactly anyways, the primer punch is not in the center of station 2, so when i press the handle all the way forward, it does not hit the center of the pocket, it instead hits the base of the case next to the primer pocket i hope that made sense:wacko: anyways here is a picture of it. thanks for your help everyone
  20. link still not working for me this is what i see when i click the link
  21. I have used the 650 w/o a case feeder for a little over a year now. i just couldnt afford a casefeeder when i bought the 650. and i got the 650 off ebay when ebay had the 35% off deal going. having said that, i ordered the casefeeder the other day, so once i get it all setup im sure ill wonder how i ever did without it
