Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. It's been quite a while since I looked back at this thread. I JUST saw the new caliber conversions mentioned in the thread, and they've been added as of today. Thank you very much for the information. If anyone has more caliber conversions, I'd love to see them. It may be better to email me directly via grammaton76@gunwiki.net or private message me here, though.
  2. Checkbox is added, and item (SKU) format is in. If you've got any ideas on making it look better, just let me know and I'll tweak the output format per request.
  3. Geez Brian, ask for something tough why don't you? SKU's are right there in the db table; I can just add 'em to the select statement against the db. Would you prefer the SKU's in separate cells, or something like "Red funnel (SKU #23252)", or "Red funnel (23252)"? Just let me know how you'd like it to appear, and I'll see about tossing it in over the weekend. BTW, anything else you'd like to see done with the caliber conversion database should be easy to do. I have more trouble coming up with something I need than with doing the apps. VERY simple code. If you can let me know how you want it to appear, I'll have it done in no time. I'll probably do a checkbox in the preview so that folks can choose whether they want to see SKU's or not. Wow, thanks! Although, you could've just issued store credit instead - you're gonna get it back sooner or later. As for gpal - yeah, I've put those plans on hold. I do know two guys who work for GPal tech support though, and I'm relatively confident they're going to get things sorted out in the long run - at which point I'll offer gpal as a donation option. I'm not sure where Ben screwed up on gpal, but I've seen him in screwy situations in the past (e.g. the Milpitas lowers in '07 or so) and he's always made right on it in the end - it's just not necessarily right away. On a side note, if any of your buddies over at Dillon are interested in this for their website, I'd be interested in talking to 'em. I've written 'em before about the other app but never got a reply.
  4. So, my previous effort was the caliber conversion shopping tool that helps you identify which conversion parts to order. I just found myself getting annoyed the other day as I had to look up which parts belong in which kit, at which point I realized that all I needed to do was use my existing database and write a small script to generate a quick-reference chart. It has two display options - one is a browser based chart suitable for printing (I just printed one myself) and the other is a CSV export which will dump the data to Excel (or OpenOffice, etc) so that you can manipulate it all you want on your system. Don't know about you guys, but I'm going to stick mine up right behind my 650. http://gunwiki.net/apps/calconversionsheet/ As always, I'm interested in and open to any feedback you guys may have on this.
  5. Latest thing using this database is here: http://thegunwiki.com/apps/calconversionsheet/ I figure I'll make a separate thread, but may as well bump this in case folks haven't seen the related app for shopping for caliber conversions.
  6. It's not that I don't believe that's the way it's supposed to be - it's just that I don't remember seeing one in mine (and I always wondered why 40S&W fed unreliably with the one in my box - the red one). At least I know now that I need to order it.
  7. The really trippy thing here is that Dillon's manual for the 650 actually lists both the red AND the purple, on page 44. I've added the purple adapter in, given that Dillon's manual seems to indicate that this is supplied with the conversion kit in addition to the red part. That having been said, I have that conversion kit and have not seen the purple casefeed adapter, so I'm not so sure they are shipping it. Incidentally, the sorting method on the caliber conversions just finished bugging me enough to make me actually change it to a standard top->bottom column layout, rather than the calibers going across.
  8. Sorry - fixed this. I just upgraded from TWiki to FOSwiki last night, and the caliber conversion broke quietly.
  9. Added some new features to the conversion system. I figured since I have all the data in a database, I may as well make it more accessible. So, all the conversions in the screen are now clickable. If you click on a conversion, it'll show all the parts used in the conversion. Now this is what's really neat - click any of the parts, and it'll tell you all the other conversions it can be used in. Example, hit this URL and it'll show you the 650's 30 M1 Carbine conversion. http://gunwiki.net/apps/calconversion/showconvparts.asp?convid=17 Click any of the parts, it'll tell you where else those parts can be used. One minor quibble though - looking in the 30 M1 Carbine conversion in the Dillon 650 manual, it seems there are a number of misprints in the SKU's of the parts. It says powder funnel C, but it lists the SKU for powder funnel B. And interestingly enough, it seems the case insert slide doesn't appear for sale on Dillon's website separately. Not that I'd need to order it separately, but I'm kind of curious what it looks like.
  10. Can someone edit the URL in the original post? The thegunwiki.com domain expired recently and I don't have access to renew it. In the meantime, all thegunwiki.com URLs will work fine if you substitute gunwiki.net for thegunwiki.com. The correct link is presently: http://gunwiki.net/apps/calconversion/
  11. So, I have a friend who wishes to know what to use for a caliber conversion for 6.5x52mm (for his Carcano). Also, need to know what to use for 7.62x25mm Tokarev. Any chance I can get conversion kit specs for these, for the 650 / 550 / 1050 (if it exists)? I'll happily throw them into the caliber conversion app for the benefit of all.
  12. Much appreciated - I've adjusted the titles on those conversions to reflect the additional calibers.
  13. Thanks for the correction - I've adjusted it accordingly. I am pretty sure that the "9" must have appeared because my eyes were on the 9x18mm Makarov right above 9mm in the 550 manual. BTW, I just noticed that the 550 casefeeder manual has ANOTHER set of conversions in it. I'm contemplating now whether or not to go typing all that in. Do those parts come with the 550 casefeeder, or do you buy them separately?
  14. I've got a request to add caliber conversions for .300 Wby Mag and .260 Remington. Can't find those in the conversion chart in the manuals for the 650, and I believe I didn't see them for the 550 either. Are they there and I'm just not noticing them (i.e. abbreviated some way I didn't catch), or are they undocumented?
  15. Hey, would anyone with mod access mind editing the title and first post so that it doesn't claim to be just a 650 app anymore? I don't want 550, 1050, or SDB users ignoring this thread for saying "650" in the title, now that the converter can handle their presses too...
