  1. I had a red rule book in 1999, then a green rule book and now a rule book with a photo on the cover, that makes three IDPA rule books.
  2. For the scores visit: www.raccoonhunters.org
  3. This was the biggest and best IDPA match I have ever attended. It included 10 big stages with elaborate props, movers, electronic sensors, a huge airliner, a dark house and a messy basement. Every aspect of match manangement was attened to and handled in the most professional manner. There was not a single dispute, the officiating was fair and friendly. This match was a model for all other IDPA clubs to follow. Hats off and many thanks to the Raccoon Hunters Club and the staff!
  4. I look at the club and conclude that taking an existing IDPA program and adding two USPSA programs which hosted two major matches in the first full year of operation was too much growth, too fast. It must have worn on everyone's nerves. On top of that the Michigan State IDPA Championship will be at the Raccon Hunters club in two weeks. It was a hell of a run and everyone who shot USPSA matches at the Racoon Hunters will have some fond memories. Thanks to those that work so hard.
  5. IDPA actually can have less control over muzzle direction during a reload than IPSC does as there is no 180 rule in IDPA. By the same token, IDPA has a muzzle safe points rule, instead of a 180 rule, and which points can be anywhere that the range management stipulates. So with IDPA we can have big rule differences between clubs which confuses the shooters and does not help the sport of IDPA. Just a thought here, I do not mean to stir anything up. Range managers must insure safety at their range at all times.
  6. This was one of the most fun USPSA matches I have ever attended. 9 stages of run and gun fun, plus a nightmare of a standards. Thanks very much. (Still waiting here for results-the bad news for me-a death jam on the stagecoach stage trashed my score).
  7. If one wants to write a story about a match, shouldn't one attend the match?
  8. It is an unenforcable rule. Look at IDPA. They require membership for attendance after the first match. I would guess that half the IDPA match attendees in Michigan are not IDPA members. Most will join after their first season, not their first match. This rule would just scare away new shooters and decrease membership overall if range nazis tried to enforce it. I for one am not going to go around and check ID's. Anyway, who is someone else to tell me I can't let a buddy throw some lead downrange at my home club ?
  9. I made the decision to buy the Ruger PC-9. Thanks.
  10. Keep the replies coming, all are very appreciated. The 30 Carbine will not work-it craters poppers and plates terribly. I think that caliber should be 9mm for economy. So far the Storm seems great, but mags are a problem. 30 rounders seem mandatory. The AR's are a solution but an expensive one. I do not have a Glock anymore, can't shoot them with a hand injury. I have several Paras but they are all 40's and I do not want to shoot up my 40 Limited ammo in the carbine. So the Mech-Tech solution gets expensive too, either in ammo or in the purchase of a Glock 17. I wonder if reliable 30 round mags are available for the Ruger PC-9?
  11. That says it all. I am in the market for a reliable PCC with a couple 30 round magazines.
  12. I manufacture banjos so a wood box is a 15 minute project, nothing fishy about it.
  13. You got me there, I do not know. My ironclad hard maple box did not cost a dime. I made it from scrap that was laying around the shop in 15 minutes, about the time it takes to fill out an order form, write a check and address an envelope to IDPA HQ requesting a box. I made it only a couple thousandths oversize and no one has ever had a problem getting it out while on the clock.
  14. I made a box of full one inch thick hard maple. This prevents someone (I won't mention his name) from squeezing in an oversize gun and pushing the sides of the box and lid out and hard maple also prevents cutting a groove in the sides with the sights. It is a great prop for staging a gun at the beginning of a course. We call it the gun "Safe" in a procedure. I put in the state match last year in a stage at the start position (the gun had to be retrieved from the "safe" at the start) and this saved an hour off check in time, we did not have to check guns for box fit at registration.
  15. I thought that we can't airgun because it looks too gay.
  16. There is a principle of fair play that exists in our civilized society that dates back to the time of the Magna Carta and English common law. Our entire legal system is based on this principle. The principle is that one has the right to face his accusers, be given time to prepare a defense and to call witnesses to testify in his behalf. Anything less is unacceptable. Edited for inflammatory comments.
  17. Wow, I cannot believe what I am reading here. Is there a pattern? This reminds me of the Ohio State match last year when the top finisher, an honest and polite young man, was DQ'ed an hour after the match was finished after the MD received reports of his alledged "airgunning" (of which there was no mention of such an infraction in the old rule book) and alledged use of illegal equipment. I will say that I think DQ'ing someone the day after match is a cowardly act of unsportsmanlike conduct. The MD should be DQ'ed, too, and his score removed for gross unsportsmanlike conduct. Sorry, that is just my personal opinion based on my thoughts of what is right and what is fair play. I think that MD cheated because he suspected after the fact that a shooter had cheated. When do two wrongs make a right? Never, in my book.
  18. I would like to see a state match where we must succumb to lap dances from Hooters girls...makes about as much sense as undoing Sarah Brady's favorite piece of hardware, a cheap gun cable lock, while on the clock.
  19. I think that the magwell has to be made of aluminum to make the new weight limits; 41 ounces in CDP and 43 ounces in ESP with an empty mag inserted. My P-16-40 barely makes weight with the partial (one quarter) S&A magwell and would not make weight with the full surround S&A magwell.
  20. I wish that the stage results had been posted after the match so that shooters could have corrected scoring errors.
  21. I was standing around outside the clubhouse before the match waiting for my turn at the equipment check. A SO walked briskly up to me and yanked my vest aside then stuck his finger in my magwell. He walked away with no explantion or stated purpose given. Not one word. I have shot more IDPA matches than anyone alive in Michigan and have never been known to carry my gun loaded (it's a certain DQ). I hosted the State Championship last year. I am the AC. So I guess that this was a case where a "nobody" wanted to show what a big shot they were and frisk the AC. However, I found the fact that many SO's have apparently never read the rule book even more disturbing.
  22. I do not want to get frisked by an SO at a State match again. So, I want a frisk free State match. I want SO's that have read the rule book at least once in the last 12 months.
  23. Shoot it in IDPA ESP division. It will be entirely competitive. Come to our three Caboodle Shoots this year at CCRC in Williamston where it will be entirely competitive also; 50 steel targets plus 50 shots on paper per run, single stack friendly.
