  1. I'll do some experimenting this week. If nothing works, then I'll just have to be content on Winchester primers. The CCI are just so cheap and easily found that I thought it would be cool if this mod would allow me to use them.
  2. There was a lot of people using the 24C in this thread, so figured it would be worth a shot. -QC10 Bolt -QC10 Lower -QC10 Upper -Taccom ULW Buffer Ran about 300 rounds. 3 times the trigger failed to reset after a shot and went dead. Had play in it, so not pinned to the rear. Once I put it on safe you could hear it click and reset. Moving back to fire position it was able to fire. Emailed hiperfire to see what kind of issue this is. This is my first non mil-spec trigger in an AR type rifles, so not sure what could be going on.
  3. Yep, 1 pc, bolo, titan, 15.5lb hammer spring, PD optimized firing pin spring. Well fitted stock firing pin, which has been more reliable for me than the PD enhanced. The PD enhanced doesn't drag and actually hits a pencil higher than the stock. It however is inconsistent at lighting off winchesters in DA, while the stock pin isn't. The gun was setup by PD prior to the enhanced pin existing with the goal of lighting off winchester. With all the new parts/mods I am just seeing if it is possible to use CCI now. The CCI's will not light off no matter how many re-strikes you try with the hammer. I have a XL 650, so the depth isn't adjustable. I have the shell plate as tight as I can while making the machine still operable. I'll measure some to see how deep they are.
  4. .4630 still a no-go on the CCI primers. Guess I will get more adventurous.
  5. Well, in dry fire I had a few times where DA wouldn't drop, so I added some bevel to the #2 edge. After adding a bit of a bevel it drops freely in DA without any stacking like I had before. However, now I am wondering how much I can reduce the interrupter tip now. Anyway, the trigger feels fine where it is now on the .4630, so I'll test with CCI before I take anymore off the tip and potentially ruin the part.
  6. I'm one of the few that likes small frame. Bring em on.
  7. Played with my spare today. Hit my previous minimum, .4635 and it felt identical to the original I cut down to .4635. Went down to .4630 on my quest to find the limit. I may have found it. The gun has some noticeable stacking as it gets to the very end of hammer travel. I'll probably just test this "experimental" bolo with some CCI primers.
  8. I might lose it if a non-factory hammer is legal in Production, but a factory available safety isn't.
  9. Very cool, I'll find the maximum amount with this donor bolo, then test out some of the hard primers again. My Titan hammer and 15.5 we're not able to pop CCI in double action at all.
  10. Played with a Shadow 2 a few weeks ago. It felt as good as my SIII. Similar balance, similar trigger. Haven't come across a Limited Pro to compare to either.
  11. Just placed an order for a spare one, so I can try to go aggressive. I'd like to see if I can get the gun to run 100% on CCI using the 15.5 spring or lighter. My gun is a winchester/federal primer only gun at the moment.
  12. There were a lot of rub marks on my frame, so decided I'd take a whirl at this. I'm on .4635 down from .4655. What are you guys using to determine a stopping point? I'm tempted to buy a spare bolo and take it down in increments until it stops working, then I'll know the minimum size for my gun.
  13. Prior to competitive shooting, and a very very young me. I always saw .40 as a pretty pointless round compared to 9mm. Less capacity, double the cost, doesn't kill things any deader. I saw how it was the go to round for limited and was always one of my barriers to entry into USPSA. Didn't want to spend so much money buying .40, buying an STi Edge, and also wasn't at a point in my life. Had dreams in the back of my head of getting a Dillon and getting into Limited Major. After graduating college, getting a career, then spending a few years doing SCCA Solo and LeMons I figured I might actually be at a point to afford competition shooting, as it is way cheaper than racing cars. I'd had a G34 for the occasional local steel match. Then discovered some USPSA nearby that I had never know about and was on my way to shoot production. Even bought a silly 2.5lb production pistol! I now focus on production division USPSA when I am not doing racing, due to the low cost. Right now I feed two guns since my wife shoots with me. My cost on reloading is .123 cents per round using what I consider pretty good components. Double this for any practice or match since there are two of us. Anyway, .40 still seems like something I wouldn't get into even though I could probably afford it. Less range brass available to purchase, plus I don't own a single .40 pistol and would never consider carrying one. I'd be stocking another caliber that would be specific to shooting limited minor. Probably end up with a dedicated .40 reloading press. Even though I would love to shoot 140mm mags and a 2011. I'd never buy a 2011 in 9mm since I'd always feel that minor scoring was putting me at a disadvantage. This long story leads me to my question. Do most limited shooters prefer the .40 for carry/defense or is it purely a competition round for them? (in my mind it is competition only, but I'm guessing there must be a following for it)
  14. I'm planning on getting a Baby Eagle / Jericho and seeing what PD parts I can make fit.
  15. Small frames also share mags with CZ which is nice for people that like both CZ and Tanfo.
  16. Mine looks a bit like that, I keep polishing that spot smooth. I too have the heavy firing pin indentation.
  17. Does this mean you now have an SIII for sale?
  18. I actually imaged a giant sledge hammer attached to the back of my gun. Those CCI primers don't stand a chance.
  19. Smart considering the ruling on production hammers being fair game for anything under the sun.
  20. Glad I'm not the only one. I never noticed it when the pistol was new, just saw it cleaning today. Thanks guys
  21. Anyone else ever experience a chipped feed ramp or burr forming on the slide facing side of the feedramp? My stock III has a chunk missing where the ramp meets the chamber on the right side. On the left side it has a burr forming, so I am guessing it will eventually chip like the right side did. Any cause for concern? I will probably just keep shooting it unless you guys know of this being an issue. Sorry I don't have a DSLR and a macro lens to try an capture it. https://goo.gl/photos/1GaD2eW2DGRjS8gy7
  22. EAA at least does USPSA production list submissions. ;-)
  23. Normal century arms behavior and they say EAA is bad!
  24. The Sphinx SDP Compact is on my list of next guns to purchase, maybe even a subcompact too. I've been shooting Tanfoglio now in competition a while and would like to start having some self defense pistols that have basically the same ergonomics and trigger. My CZ75 Semicompact is a lot different in feel to my Tanfoglio or the Sphinx. The Sphinx that I tested out was more on the Tanfoglio side than the CZ. The frame and beavertail cut were not CZ like. The trigger shape and position was Tanfoglio.
  25. I purchased my SIII directly from PD. They took care of all the tuning and even sent the barrel off for reaming, this was prior to them having their own barrel reamer. They would give me a call for status updates and let me know how everything was coming along each step of the way.
