  1. Hey Trapr- Several friends run this optic on their open div. rifles. Overall, they love the scope. I've shot it, but don't own this NF. Down side is the shorter eye relief and the NPR2 reticle lines (recommended as it offers 2moa spacing for hold overs) are a little thin. Also check out the new 2.5-10X32 NF. It was just announced. The current 2.5-10X24 obviously has a smaller objective. For NF optic purchase, I can recommend these guys: CS Gun Works: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&...23&t=525876 MSTN: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&...24&t=388760 Bill Shehan: http://www.scopeusout.com/nightforce-scopes.htm Have done buisness with all of the above and all will treat you well. MSTN offers package prices for scopes and mounts. Hope this helps, Nick-
  2. I run an M2 as well with a 3gg velcro side saddle, plus two more in front of the ejection port. I run 3dr. 11/8oz loads as well and my gun runs fine. In addition to what has been suggested, also look at your recoil pad. I switched to a softer limbsaver recoil pad to allow the gun to move (suggested by Benny Hill). If the gun is to heavy and you hold the gun real tight, you can cause the gun not to run. Gun needs to move back under recoil for inertia system to work. After putting on the softer limbsaver pad, I never had another problem. Nick-
  3. I shot STC for about 8 yrs and tried a lot of rifle bbls (Clark, VolQ, Ruger Factory HB, Shillen). I found they all would shoot great with the right ammo. Like most bbls, I found 10/22 rifle bbls to like one load over another. Bbl length and weight is a personal preference. Since all the shooting is done off hand you need a rifle that balances right for you. A .22 has burnt all its powder in 16" of bbl., so anything longer is not getting you anything in the way of velocity, but you might like the balance. I tried 16", 18" and 20" bbls and liked the 20" in the end (same as my 3gun rifle as I think about it). The weight of the 20" bbl combined with an added bbl weight (as Bruce P mentioned) helps to slow the rifle down and allows you to break shots a little easier. I had a conversation with David Tubbs about this and I think his rifle was close to 13lbs. Again, for ammo, run what your gun likes. I ran CCI standard velocity for practice and Fed 900 for big matches. Other popular loads with shooters were Win Power Points (dirty, but accurate) and CCI high velocity. Lots of guys liked the HV loads on the steel plates. YMMV. I miss shooting STC. It was a great all around shooting event. Nick-
  4. Nate, It was nice meeting you at the match. Sorry we didn't have more time to talk. If you have more questions, shoot me a PM. Hope you enjoyed the shoot. Nick-
  5. I'm shooting the AREA 8 MG on Sat. Look me up if you want. Your division is based on your rifle choice. If shooting Limited, you will have to run irons on your rifle, pistol and shotgun. If you shoot Tactical you can run a scope on your rifle and irons on your pistol and shotgun. Your ff tube can be used in either division. Unless you love shooting irons, I'd shoot tactical with your aimpoint and run your limited gun major (for scoring) with hi-cap mags. I think you will have the most fun this way but YMMV. Good luck. Nick-
  6. This was my 4th year shooting this match. Every year, Louie and crew do an outstanding job. Much thanks for everyones efforts. Nick- P.S. Louie, I see the Square Deal website is down. Where will you be posting the scores? Thanks again.
  7. Shot it yesterday for prodcution. 2.75sec., 30pts. Looks like 94%. My best classifier ever. Felt awesome. Nick-
  8. +1 for B&P ammo. Shot thousands of their F2 1oz. load. It is my favorite load of all time (with Fiocchi's Baby Rhinos and Crushers a close 2nd). I used it for everything, including FITASC. It just crushes birds with fast target feed back. I also agree with using good components in your reloads. When I was loading I ran a 1280fps 1oz. reload using Clays, Windjammer Wads, and AA Hulls that were close to premium factory performance. Just no comparision to the cheap walmart loads.
  9. My son's rifle has a carbon fiber (clark) handguard and mine a JP Vtac. The JP Vtac stays much cooler in high rnd cound / fast shooting stages. I'll probably swap his forearm out for a Vtac at some point. Initially we went CF for the weight, but since he grew almost 6" last year (age 14), it is no longer an issue . My recommendation would be the Vtac. Nick-
  10. Nick, I just bought one of these scopes and I was going to zero it at 200 yards as well. I was wondering what weight bullet your buddy shot to get the 300 and 400 yard lines to still be on. P.S. Cactus Tactical is the place to buy this scope, the service is very good. Albert Albert, My buddy Jim zeroed his IOR with the Georgia Arms 55gr. Nosler BT load (canned heat). As I understand it, GA has discontinued use of the NBT bullet and has gone to a Hornady 55gr. Vmax bullet. He runs an 18" 1:9 twist Colt Hbar chrome lined bbl with JP comp. This load had no problem moving the flash target at 350+ yards. Jim did get his IOR from Cactus Tactical and has been very happy with his purchase. Nick-
  11. Anyone got a video of the striker coming in on Stage 1?? Somone must. Nick-
  12. A buddy just got one of these scopes and shot it at Benning this past weekend. He shoots tactical-optics, but needs more glass for aging eyes. He zeroed the CQB reticle dot at 200 and the hold-over lines were right on at 300 and 400. I think he only had one or two misses (with quick follow up hits) out to 400 on the long range rifle stage. The scope is heavy at 22oz. He says that he wishes it had a day-time illuminated optic like the Meopta and a little better eye relief, but overall he loves the scope. He switched from a Meopta Kdot 1-4X. Nick-
  13. Best match I have ever shot. My thanks to all that made it possible. To Maj. Jim Barrows, watch your six over in the box. Come home safe. Best, Nick-
  14. I've known the seller 20+ years. Good guy and accomplished shooter. He is not a regular on BE so can't really defend himself. If he says he didn't know there was a problem prior to sale, I'd believe him. Just my .02. Nick-

    Glock 22

Shoot major out of G22. Tight Group powder (4.5gr.) and Zero 180gr. JHP bullets. Loaded to 1.126 oal. Lee seating die. Barsto Bbl. No problems. Nick-
  16. Thanks for the input. I ordered some of the AA&A to try. Best, Nick
  17. Out of Zero 180gr. JHP and didn't realize there was such a shortage. Had not had to buy bullets for some time. Anyway, considering the Prec. Delta and Atlanta Arms 180gr. Minor .40 load for the up coming Nats. Don't like changing this late in the game, but have little choice. Anyone have any experience with either load..accuracy, power factor, etc. I run a Glock 22 with a Barsto. Thanks, Nick-
  18. The SPS mags with Grams guts and base pad will get you a reloadable 21rnds. I handled and shot the mags at the Open Nats. Worked as advertised. One shooter I talked with said he modified the Grams follower and got 22rnds. Did not get into details as to how he did this. Only issue with the SPS mag body is that it may need to be "tuned" to drop free from you gun. The gun I shot the mag in (a Millennium Custom Sight Tracker) would not allow the mag to drop free. It was not a mag release problem, but mag tube dimension issue. Mag and gun ran 100%. Put about 50 rnds through them. Nick-
  19. For those of you that did not Get Louie's email, he says the scores will be out by the weekend. Enjoyed the match Louie. Nice job to you and your club!! Looking forward to that 2nd long range rifle stage next year. Best, Nick-
  20. As George said, the issue is with velocity loss, not accuracy loss with a 16" bbl. Due to velocity loss your poa / holdovers may be different at longer ranges compared to a 20" bbl. Not a big deal if you know the ballistics of your rifle / ammo combo. Best, Nick-
  21. Trapr- With a 50 / 200 yard zero I'm 8" low at 300 yards, so there is a poi change at this distance (20" JP 1:8 w/Georgia Arms 55gr NBT). Not sure if you were taking this into consideration or not. Like Dan said, some more info would be helpful. Best, Nick-
  22. Thinking about trying a EAA Elite Witness Limited .40 for Limited Division. Got to handle one (not shoot) in .38sup and it fit my hand real well and had a decent trigger. Looking for input, impressions and experience of anyone shooting one. Thanks, Nick- P.S. Looking at this blaster as it fits my budget.
  23. No that is not it. New one has a JP upper and lower receiver similar to the CTR02 .223. The new JP .308 is not a custom DPMS.
  24. A buddy was at the SSM3G match and told me JP had their new "CTR02 like" rifle in .308 and .260 on display. Not sure what JP is calling it. Not featured on their web site yet. Wondering if anyone has bought/shot one? I'm sure it will be top notch. Just looking for a review. Thanks, Nick-
