  1. The shellplate rotates freely most of the time now. It does not feel like the shellplate retaining bolt is too tight. That causes a more consistant tension. This is only intermitent 'catching' of the shellplate. I will try to buff it out, then contact Dillon if that doesn't work. Thanks for the input.
  2. Thanks for input on fixes. I also noticed the shellplate not advancing smoothly. It seems to 'catch' on something and requires much more effort to rotate. Once if breaks free, it will rotate freely for a complete rotation or so before getting stuck again. The shellplate retention bolt seems to be scored by the shellplate advancer. Could this cause the issue? Would simply buffing down the bolt fix it? Lube has barely helped the issue. Thanks again.
  3. How did I not notice this? Any input, how to fix? Is it bad enough to replace parts, or just fix it and keep loading up? I only do pistol stuff (99% 9x19, 40 & 45). Approx. round count on 10 year old machine (original owner) is 30-40K. Thanks for any input, Nate
  4. 300WM sightin: 50, 100, & 200 yds P2K work at 10 yds.- worked on trigger reset and got numerous .2s, a few 19s, and one 18; with fair-good accuracy (strong side) support side- 10 yds, started with resets about .5s and got a few down into the high 20s & low 30s; accuracy was fair-poor
  5. Long time no post. I have started working with my P2000, more. 5/17: transitions with rifle- 2 shots rifle (10m) and 2 shots pistol from Safariland holster; broke 5s a few times from Serpa holster draw 7m, broke 1.25s a few times while maintaining 50% hits on a 3x5 card (mostly point shooting). The holster is a bit different and will take more practice. 357/249 scores (359 & 247 in Feb '10)
  6. The hyperlink at the top is not working. I may be interested in disconnecting the disconnector if I get a M&P in the next year or so. Thanks. http://www.burwellgunsmithing.com/M&P2.htm Found this though. Enjoy.
  7. Shot a local Rifle/Pistol match this weekend, good fun despite the rain. There was also some politics involved. Lucky weekend for me though, won in Limited Division. Couldn't believe it, over a few A & B shooters too. I pushed for fast over accurate this weekend. The sights were more a blur and the speed was dialed way up. Reloads and draws need some work. Footwork felt pretty good also. Many As, some Cs but no Ms. The rifle wasn't as pretty, 5th in Tactical. I have not shot rifle since the MGM last summer. Not too bad, but need more time on rifle.
  8. I've been able to locate some American Select, 8#. So i'm using it for 9x19, 40, & 45. Planning on H335 for .223, eventually.
  9. Ah... Knocking the dust off sucks. I haven't been shooting much, since my son was born Jan 3rd. Bill drills today were straight out of the ugly forest. 1.2-3 seconds for first shot, anywhere on 7m target. Splits were mostly .18-.22, one down to .15 seconds. Most BD were about 2.3-2.4 and who knows where on target. Finally got some American Select, 8 lbs. I'll save the Bullseye I have been using for 40 & 45. The new DOH is not great. If the pistol is completely seated, it binds horribly on draw. Perhaps over time it will loosen up a bit. My first shoot of the year will be Easter Weekend, rifle & pistol. I'll have to break out the M4 soon. Reloading got much easier today, after I removed a stuck brass in my dies. Extracting from the resize die was getting tough when I ripped a rim off. So, I thought someone here recommended a shot of case lube into a bucket of brass. THAT is genius! I'm also working with Wolf primers now. Today's session was the first 'test' run and they ran as well as Win, but I'm not sure of the velocity difference. My 115's go about 1150 with Win; the new primers shouldn't bother velocity too much. Oh, and my hands & fingers hurt. I think arthritis sucks, esp. at 33. On the other hand, I reloaded 200 9x19 in about 27 minutes tonight, a new PR. Let's get busy, shootin' season is here!

    HK P30-L 9mm

The way I see it: even with a $300 trigger job on a $900 an HK pistol is still less expensive then most 1911's and more reliable. I can't wait to find out about this potential job and converting from Glocks to LEM HKs. Oh, come on BI!

    HK P30-L 9mm

Bucky, Interesting. I won't be give up my G34 until this job materializes. THEN, I would be happy to try on a P30L (LEM) and hope it is Production approved by then. Also hear HKs are now being made in US, FYI.

    HK P30-L 9mm

Rln, I have a USPF 45 with 20k rounds thru it and people are impressed with how clean that trigger is. The only work I did was cutting a few coils on spring.
  13. Must agree. I bought a used G34 last year and greatly improved on my 5 years old scores from using a USPF45. I've carried a Glock for duty for 6 years now and have 5-15k round a year in one. The G34 shot 4" high at 20 yards and I've been thru 3 sets of sights and still looking for one that works well and I like. The adjustables are 'nice' for different loads, but i'm not taking a $75 adjustable rear to a 'smith install it on my Glock. No rear I bought has been adjusted to POI for a 115 at 1150fps. The latest needed serious modification to install, will NOT stay in place even after using the screws to set it in place. I'm going to look for fixed from now on and adjusting my POA/POI. So far, my HK P2000 is making very consistant headshots at 20m, with stock NS. Hope my future P30L(LEM) is dead on from factory. :-)

    HK P30-L 9mm

I just bought a P2000 in 40, in the event I get hired to USBP. I've been looking to replace my current Glock lineup for a similar HK lineup and found the P30L. It is supposedly just being released in LEM (light DAO), as we speak. It could make a fun L, L10, or Production setup that is close enough to the duty P2000. I also like that there is a full size HK45 in LEM available for big bullets, that is similar to the P2000 & P30L, with LEM and similar feel. Please let us know what you think of it compared to your CZ, I love the feel of the CZs.
  15. I'm with the guys above, I'm gonna spend ? dollars and reloading allows me more rounds per $. A few years ago one could load JHP MG 40 or 45 for under 10 cents per load, recycled brass. Now it costs that much for JHP 9mm reloads and 40/45 are about 12 cents each. You could save a bit more by going to cheaper primers or very minimal powder charges. Though not a regular 223 reloader, i just bought 3500 projos & 8 lbs of H335 to start. I save a bunch on 500 Mag reloads as well..
  16. pump- Mossberg 590 or 500; i have seen MANY Benellis fail during both tactical and competition situations; i'm currently interested in the Mossberg 930 SPX for auto.
  17. I love my 22/45. Only recent complaint is Rem Golden Bullet ammo being inconsistant. Very accurate.
  18. My experience with 22s has been interesting. I bought a used 22/45 about 6 years ago and have used it for bullseye and lots of practice. It has seen 40-50K rounds since then. I wanted a Mosquito for the wife last year but talked to a few people who had serious problems with them and even a Sig rep. who would not recommend it. Then last year I won a Mosquito at a local match. It has 1k rounds of cheap ammo thru it, but it still doesn't shoot reliably/accurately. If my 'fun, cheap gun' requires $.10 22 ammo, I'm gonna reload a 9mm JHP for $.10 instead. My 22/45 still gets lots of action, esp. if I'm lazy on reloading. I also bought a S&W 10 shot revovler for cheap practice for my 686+. It was pricey and accuracy is only okay. I've gone thru 2 makes of .22lr Glock conversions and shot out 3 barrels for them. None of them are reliable or accurate. The 22/45 has been my best practice fun gun as it will eat almost anything, is very reliable, and much more accurate than I. I may consider a Buckmark for the same purpose.
  19. Agree with most here: 17 if you have to pick one for both or a 34 to compete; I have 26, but it is small but wide; I carried/shot a 19 a fair amount recently and feel it is nearly too small for me to compete with very well.
  20. Well it seems AR/AKs are off the shelf and magazine prices have gone thru the roof. I just ordered up almost 20k rounds from MG and aside from a two week delay for 55 fmj's, everything seems stable in the reloading world. I'll be home in a few weeks, anyone noticing primer/powder prices going crazy back CONUS? Thanks for input.
  21. Now that is interesting.
  22. Went to burn up some underpowered loads today 4.2 instead of 4.5, 1 in 20 had a FTE/F. So i took the steel on a 4x4 and shot it at 20-25 yds. The plate is about 7x9". I was surprised to hit it pretty easy at that distance. After breaking the 4x4 post, design flaw, i moved on to practicing draws. There were broken pieces of clays on the burm, so i just walked to about 20' from them and went to town. If you read above, you'll see i barely got to 1.04 on first shot from a draw, a few months ago. Today my first draw was 1.04, good start. Within 40 draws i was down to .97s with a low of .90s! I also got at least 3 sub 1s in a row several times. I had a few double taps at 1.2s. Would they all have been in the A zone, maybe? They ALL would have been on paper though. Great day for some lead slingin'! Won't likely load up any more ammo until i get back in Dec.
  23. Interesting Pat. During the initial course mentioned above, i knew all were hits. I even could tell you most were As; I didn't think of this until they starting scoring it and I'd had a second to replay the run in my head. I guess a lesson learned would be: after every shot, i checked the target to make sure of the hits. It would only make sense to spend that time making sure of the shots BEFORE/DURING the shots, rather than after.
  24. Well, i finally broke down & cleaned my G34 before a local shoot this weekend. It had at least 4,000 since i bought it a few months ago and this was it's first cleaning. Just a quicky with a tshirt & a GI brush on the barrel, upper, and immediate guts; didn't pull/push out any pins or take the firing pin out, etc. Maybe after another 10-20K i'll really break it down.
  25. I thought there were Tactical shooters using vert grips at another 3 gun but i saw someone today who was told it would put them in Open. Which is it? Thanks.
