  1. i have some very fine (dust) shavings on the first pin on the shellplate and the surrounding area. It is near the powder funnel, but lighter proved it isn't ground powder. I don't do much lubing or such. Any help is appreciated.
  2. Dunno if it did too much. I did immediately wonder if it was the RO's head or something, in case he was too close. It was a distraction.
  3. Awesome shoot at York IWLA today. Low 80's, 1/2 overcast, 1/2 woods, light breeze, 4 good classifiers, & 4 fun stages. I realized today, i don't use the sights much during matchs. When i did, it was almost an accident (except for one mover when i called a M). Movers blow. I need to practice them much more. Hit them at the 'stop'. See my note in "stage messups" about the reshoot on my 'bad' classifier. Also blew a fun stage with 2 M, 1 FTE. Forgot one reload, quick recovery though. One FTFire with slow recovery, need to practice Malfunction drills. I FEEL like the 4 classifiers went well today. This is my first time in Limited and try to pace myself with the faster (NOT fastest) guys in my squad. Most shoots felt slow, but times were pretty even with those i felt were above my level. I really felt like the gun came up pretty good, then the sights leveled off, the slack kept coming out, then the noise started. After the first shots, i really don't recall using the sights at anything closer than 10 yds. I think getting in 3 good shooting days a week is paying off. Reloads felt smooth, fast & in control. Moving isn't very smooth but i have rarely ever practiced it. I would like to practice some shooting on the move & compare times/accuracy between the two; future reading here too. Bring a hat. Bring a protien bar. Bring more fluids.
  4. I went to the York IWLA match today, 4 classifiers. I don't really know many guys there, first time shooting there. I'm not sure of the classifier, From Two Sides Now #2 (?) starting with hands on low Xs, engage T1-2, PP1-2 from left side of barricade; reload; engage T3-5 from opposite side of barricade. I stood, engaged poorly, missed/dropped the reload, got another mag; re-engaged & M'd at least one per side. Some guys were talking during an early stage about a shooter, at another match, getting a reshoot do to an RO touching them during the shoot. You guessed it, WHEN i was standing up the timer tapped me on the shoulder. I noticed it, but didn't think much of it. After holstering the RO said "You have the option to reshoot". That was really my only poor classifier all day. Second time went like clockwork, but slower... Can't wait for the scores.
  5. Wish i could print/shoot these at the range. We have to purchase their $.08 targets for $.59, DAMNIT!
  6. HSmith, Thanks, good info there. I don't mind a little flake/soot on my arms, but after 200 rounds of HS6, i need a shower. And that's saying something. I'll try the PP & 3N37 i have now and experiment with Silh after that. I've wanted to try Ramshot for a while, but want to burn up some of the random powders i have now.
  7. I just burnt up my HS6, hated it. I just picked up a # of 3N37 and it appears 121 will be close to major at +P pressures. And i'll likely try PP just to see what happens. Thanks.
  8. I bought a used Lone Wolf Glock 17 slide with KKM threaded barrel & LW comp with LW red dot on it. I'm guessing the barrel is about 5" (between G34 & 17). I don't believe that comp will do much but i've been wrong before (ask wife for detailed list). My next case (or more) of MT gold will be the 121 or 124s. I'd like to try making 9major with Powerpistol. Any input? Thanks.
  9. I thought i'd add another note on American Select. Shot 200 rounds today and will load up 300 for the weekend match. 4.9 under a 115 MG JHP at 1.14" for G34 and it was great. No to little smoke/flash/soot/residue. It meters okay, as it is a flat round flake, but i rarely get test throws outside of .1 +/-. Load data for a G34: 4.8 @ 1158; 4.9 @ 1165; 5.2 (34,000 max) @ 1195. Clean brass, very little/no outside black. Haven't done any real accuracy testing, yet. The 5.2 load almost fills the case before a bullet gets set on top. I was going to buy 8# of Bullseye after burning my random 1 pounders, for now jury is still out.
  10. i should obviously not have stopped 'cause starting always sux. 1 mile @ 3 degrees on the treadmill at 8 min/mile. Starting back to test myself in the case of a PT for any of the LEO applications. I mt. bike on a regular basis, love elipticals, and jog/trailrun on occasion. Getting back to pushups, pullups, abs & running; away from the fitness programs above. P90X & Crossfit are great, but my shoulders/knees/back have been too abused for too long to put up with more than 3 months of that stuff at a time. I'm only 32, but have high mileage from military training & other overuse. Glad to see some Crossfit junkies, er... members here. Did some 41" box jumps a few weeks ago; not easy for a 6'1" 230 pounder. Neither are the 31" jumps with a 45# plate under each arm. Train hard, but smart. Nate
  11. 200 rounds of Amer. Select today, DAMN CLEAN powder. 4.9 grains is mid 1100's and super clean with barely notice of flash with the indoor lights turned off. 5.2 is max, leaving plenty of room for error and 4.9 barely leaves room for a 115 gr MG JHP. Great for minor, may rethink the Bullseye for bulk powder purchase. Need to check if Amer Sel will make major for 40/45 and how well it works for 38Spec & 357M. Started with Draws- mostly 1.2 then down to 1.08/9, most on 1'x1' paper at 7 yds. Noticed most shots were low/right. Practice more at home. Then to Bill Drills: 2.4 down to 2.08/9, mostly on paper at 7 yds. Getting better sight picture during blasting. Most 1st shot were 1.18-.21 with most splits .18/9. 2 or 3 splits were 16s. Then to reload drills- 1'x1' paper at 7 yds, 5 mags 2 rounds each: draw, reloadx4. 9.14 was best time, 8-10 on paper. Only did 6 runs of this and bif'd nearly one reload per drill. Most reloads were 1.6-7 with one 1.4, splits about .2; expect sub-9 if all loads went well.
  12. Some 22/45 practice: got a whole mag down the tube on a 1'x1' target at 7 yds in 2.25 seconds. Splits were .14 (twice), some 15's, mostly 16-18's. 1100 rounds of 22 last week and 200 9x19. Still getting 2-3" high at 20m with the G34. Need to get adjustable rear. Hate going thru 3 sights and still TOO high. Bill drills: 2.45-2.6 getting 5 or 6 on 1'x1' paper at 7 yds from holster. Some faster, 2.3, but only 4-5 on paper. Started dropping them low on/off paper. First shot likely 1.3-4 splits likely .18-19 (ish).
  13. 4.0 v320 at 1.14" with MG 115 JHP made 1210 in my 5.3" Glock more details at ammoguide.com
  14. i couldn't find a 147 lead, but guestimating a few things - i only saw a 19 fps difference over those lengths in Quickload. The shortest was also 92% full. FWIW, your velocities were about 50 less than those from Quickload also (from 4" barrel).
  15. Fast & often. Like others said: test/time, commit to one method, practice (lots), & review every 5-10K rounds
  16. SA, Thanks. i noticed what looked like soft, fed primers. i hadn't thought about premature detonation before being completely chambered, great point. The uzi is the AK of SMG. Feed it anything, anywhere & it'll shoot it, all the time.
  17. Yes, it does. Don't know if it matters. Was hoping others may enlighten us.
  18. Here is a pic. I pop'd out a primer with little effort from my fingernail. Not my UZI, but i don't want the K'bm next to me or closing the range.
  19. Was at the indoor today and picking up some extra 9x19 to my stash, when i saw serious overpressure signs. Primers completely flatened and flowing back into ejector hole. I looked at the stamping (from pressure) on the headstamp and compared it to the bolt face of the rental uzi; sure enough. I've seen many of these range reloads shot in several models with no problems. Would the Uzi chamber get smaller/tighter (due to residue) and need cleaning? Anyone with input, interested. I don't want my local indoor range closed due to a shooter injury. I've emailed the reloader, but he doesn't reply. Thanks.
  20. Any results on the loads above for supersonic, transonic, & subsonic ammo? i'm curious of these results after the incredible accuracy of 115 FMJs at 100 yd with a muzzle vel of 1150ish. My MG JHP aren't that accurate. Didn't know if the HP had anything to do with it or ? According to QuickTarget, the 115's will be supersonic at 100 yd if they leave the muzzle over 1400 fps (1450 would be safer for testing though). May try this with +P brass & PowerPistol some time. Would be pretty hot (164 PF @ 1425).
  21. 4.5 Bullseye between a WSP and 115 MG JHP, 1.14" tall
  22. I load MT Gold. Have put them thru H&K 45s & 40, Para 40, Sig 40, Glock 9s (lots), S&W 686, & 45 Colt. They are the best jacketed bullet going. At a new range this weekend with a squad of M & As, almost all 9 of us were loading MT Gold (MGs) in every caliber. If you go with a JHP, you'll have little to no smoke either.
  23. Well, for short- the longest i've loaded MT Gold 115 JHP's was 1.17" and they didn't feed very well. I loaded up some Berry's 124 FMJs to 1.17" and they worked fine. i've most recently done some HS-6 at 1.11", 1.14" & 1.17". The loads are on ammoguide, but the velocities are respectively 1130, 1150, & 1158 from a G34 (stock barrel). Not much difference with the 6.5 gr load. I load my 115 MT Gold JHPs at 1.14" and will load my future MT 121s the same.
  24. 200 rounds of fmj at indoor today. Practiced strong & weak only at 10 yds. About 10% out of the 6" center. Slow fire. Concentrated on the reset. Smooth, steady pull worked well; jerking didn't (surprise!). First mag of left hands went off much before intended as i have not practiced weak only with the new 3.5# trigger. Had three light strikes in 200 rounds. Win SP primers; did not guage all the FMJ ammo but all the light strikes did fire second time. Some had mentioned replacing the Lightning Strike guide rod for the original. Also consider putting in the Lightning Strike striker OR the entire Glockworx Folcrum system. I'm looking for AA kit for cheaper practice w/o the recoil (think i may have some arthritis building). Reload, shoot, & repeat for now.
  25. Another local steel challenge today, ending in rain for the last stage. Shot well. I like the HS6 under FMJs but they are dirty and the indoor won't allow the lead base. Maybe all the trigger time over the last 5 weeks have just made my shooting better. Though faster, i still missed at least one on almost each stage. I kept looking over the sights to see the target move. The Arredondo +5's are working fine; outfitted 5 mags with them. Need to practice on the 22 more for transitions.
