Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. So...... my stock G34 is now over the 600 round mark. Just ordered some TruGrip and I want to treat her to a $.25 cent trigger job + 3.5# connector. I've got the link to the $.25 Trigger Job, but being a Total Newbie, I'm wondering things like: - what's the difficulty level? (on a scale of 1-5, with 5 being most complicated & difficult) - approx. time to schedule for the project? Do you complete it in one sitting... or does it really matter? - Best way to approach the project? (e.g., can springs, etc. pop out unexpectedly, etc.?) I'm also wondering... Am I making too big a deal of this? Is it easy, so just dive in and 'git 'er done'? TIA!
  2. WooHoo! Just 500 rounds through my new friend so far (know that's a drop for many of you), but enough to understand and appreciate good advice when I get it! Thanks again! Make 2009 your year!
  3. I found these pics very helpful. Credit to ecmills on glocktalk. More pics and discussion here: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=774767
  4. Free shipping from South Africa... and all you ordered was the belt? Great deal! (site says Free Shipping on orders over $99.00)
  5. Yeah, wondering what the shipping costs will be as well. They're in South Africa and state that US shipments may take 3-weeks. http://www.crspeed.co.za/contact.aspx Rescomp Handgun Technologies P.O. 6. Thanks Guys! Natchez's price on Blazers ($8.49) seems fair, so I loaded up. http://www.natchezss.com/product.cfm?conte...9&src=tpCtg I think I'm good to go for my upcoming two-day USPSA orientation class begining on 1/10. Sounds likes a great start to 2009! Thanks again for all the great advice!
  7. Excellent......... Thanks! Please recommend a couple different 9mm rounds to start with... knowing that I'm coming from a 22lr platform, and that I like to hit what I'm aiming at. I'm certain 22lr match ammo is comparably cheap, but my S&W's like Wolf MT (made in Germany) and CCI SV. I understand Wolf 9mm is not made to the same standards.... but is it safe to buy in bulk as a practice round? (my momma raised a thrifty boy... however, I do not see reloading in my near future), and I read somewhere that Atlanta Arms makes a 'sweet-shooting' 147 gr load that is used by the Glock Team (?). I understand the 147 gr bullets are softer shooting than the 115 or 124 gr bullets, but are not thrifty... Hmmm
  8. I'll be taking possession of a new 34 (heinie/dawson), my 1st glock and will be shooting USPSA. As I'm breaking it in and getting familiar with it, what mods should I be considering & prioritizing? Adhereing to USPSA IDPA rules. extended slide release extended mag release backstrap plug trigger job etc., etc. I'm pretty new to handguns... prefer the Accuracy of rifles. I'm aware a 34's not a bullseye gun, but I like Accuracy. e.g., the 2 other handguns I shoot are a 22lr S&W 41 and 617-6" revolver w/ trigger jobs, wolff springs, etc. and I tested a lot of ammo off bags at 25yds w/ a scope to find their favorites, and buy in bulk. Suggested mods? TIA!
  9. Great advice, all. Thanks! Since I'm a novice to handguns (1st semi-auto AND the shooting sports)... I decided it made the most sense to spend the next 12 months shooting USPSA, and perhaps IPDA and GSSF before making a CCW decision. Think it was the Pharaoh that got me on that one. Picked it out today, G34 OD. Heinie race-cut / Dawson F.O., and lots of mags! I will admit that I wavered to the end with a G35 + 9MM conversion barrel. My club, otherwise strict on USPSA rules, would allow me to shoot a 9mm G35 in production, and I liked the G35's ability to shoot in Production, Limited, Limited 10 and even Open and get major power factor scoring. However, in the end... My 1st New Year's resolution is to spend the next year mastering one gun, one round, so it's the G34, my first Glock.... TBC. Gracias!
  10. Newbie here... All excited about getting to USPSA shooting. After handling many, and shooting a Glock 17, I narrowed my choice down to a Glock 34. I'm now considering getting a CCW. That has me questioning the G34 and looking at a G19. Short of getting both.... How much of a handicap will a G19 be, compared to a G34, in USPSA Production competition? TIA!
