EricW, do you remember how much you grinded of your Dillon die? Since I already have a Dillon I have been thinking of doing just what you suggested first before buying a EGW U-size die.
Do you know when Dillon changed their funnel? I picked up my last quick change assembly last summer. I wonder if it has the new design.
TIA
As someone with small hands too I found that a short or if possible extra short trigger makes the greatest difference in how my grip my 1911s.
FWIW I prefer flat MSH.
I just had to post a little note about my recent dealing with Speed Shooter.
A buddy and I ordered some parts from Speed Shooter this week... we told Renee that we sort of need the parts ASAP and would appreciate if he can put a rush on the order to us.
Well, much to our surprise the items arrived 23 hours later.
Ok, overnight delivery is nothing new except for the fact that SS is in California and we're in Toronto, Canada.
2 big "Thumbs Up" for SSI.
Like others in this thread I pulled out the cotter pin and replaced it with a paper clip. But dillon's idea of a safety pin sounds interesting. Gotta go find my wife's sewing kit.
Taio, instead of going to an 18lb spring why don't you just try the "old" 15lb recoil spring. I belive a lighter spring does give you the extra "dwell" time you're looking for.
FWIW I use a 14lb spring with my 9mm P220 and have never encounter a problem.
I learned about detail stripping a 1911 from Bill Wilson's book, the Glock and S&W 41 from a couple of web sites, the Sig and AR from AGI videos, the 625from Jerry's video. Others like the shotgun, Sig PE90 etc mainly from their manuals.
JFD, I totally agree with you about the SC Tournament bag. While I love mine, it's quite a heavy bag to lug around. I have been thinking about picking up a Dillon bag for matches and for when I shoot at my indoor range and use the Tournament bag for I need the extra stuff for outdoor ranges.
Is anyone familiar with the Fiocchi (GFL headstamp) brass?
I have been offer some once fired Fiocchi .40 brass at a decent price. Are they good brass for reloading major(175pf) loads?
Should I just stick with my normal Winchester and Remington R-P brass?
TIA
Nick
This might not be the kind of Kydex holster you have in mind.... the Safariland Custom Fit 560 holster(kydex covered with leather and suede) fits a long dustcover 1911.
I was begining to feel sorry for myself for how much I have to pay for my memberships till I read Vince's post.
Indoor Range: Cdn$550 (US$415)
Outdoor Range: Cdn$250 (US$190)
Jason, I don't think there's any "magical" combo. FWIW I have use 12 and 14 lb recoil springs and 17 lb mainspring with very good results on my SVI.
I think you can go as low as you want with the recoil spring provided that it still circles well on your gun. And with the mainspring, you can go till you start getting light hits on your primers.
