  1. Often I'm the only revolver at the match, so I shoot Limited-10 for the fun of it. If you wanted to win the overall you wouldn't shoot a revolver... unless you're really, really good. Keith
  2. I second Flexmoney's comment... after all sharing is caring.
  3. Tried the pencil trick with my 627-5 when I finished bobbing my hammer, did a nice launch of about 20 inches. Trigger is running right about 6 pounds. Now for my problem... broke my extended firing pin ( have new one on order) replaced broken pin with original factory part. Tried test again... pencil won't even clear the barrel (5"). Put back original mainspring and screw, have a trigger pull near 10 pounds, but the pencil still doesn't leave the barrel. I've checked the firing pin tunnel and its clear. Does an extended firing pin make that much difference? The original factory firing pin along with my modified mainspring and screw pops federal primers (????) it just won't launch a pencil for beans. Any ideas from the revolver forum?
  4. As I recall the 1911 was the main reason for this "safety" norm ( not a rule because it was a common practice that many people knew). In the early days of the sport, with the use of army surplus parts to do "action" jobs, it was possible to have a disconnector, sear and trigger so out of spec that they protruded into the magazine well. Load the chamber, holster and slam in a magazine... bang. Never seen it happen, but was warned about it at my first RO class. I'm sure that with today's precision parts and expert gunsmithing most 1911 pattern guns won't have this problem, but some habits are hard to break.
  5. never heard of the place and I don't have a T-shirt to prove it
  6. Ray, Oahu is still here... couldn't get on the internet because the power was out. We got power back on just before it went full dark. Some of my students didn't get power until 4am in the morning. Hey, don't forget to remind people that the NROI class is scheduled for this weekend. Keith
  7. Yoshidaex, Check out www.mppl.net for local information. Keith sorry to hijack your topic...Flyin Hawaiian
  8. IanLock, Did as you said... even went back and read the instructions on the package... which said to do what you said. Magazines are smooth coming out. Great equipment. Now I have to practice my reloads. Keith
  9. Just got my 3-Gun Gear .308 mag pouches from Dillon (took 6 days to arrive). Damn, they're tight.... thought for a moment that I had been sent .223 magazines by mistake because the magazines (M1A) were such a tight fit. So, what is the secret to breaking them in? Keith
  10. Glock17W... Moverfive made me forget why I was replying... no problem will send results via e-mail. Hope you had a good time... we did go a little overtime. Guess we'll see you again in January.
  11. Moverfive, Yup, know who you are...nice to see that you're still up and running. We still talk about you at the range (just not in mixed company). You should stop by sometime and visit us. We may shoot only 10 rounds at a time... but you taught us how to do it real fast. Badkarma "no longer Mickey"
  12. rishii is just being modest... and I want to be like him when I grow up. Glock17L is taken care of...he is all set for some trigger time in a nice cozy range built in the crater of an extinct volcano. Big Dave is correct there is a range within hearing range of Hanauma Bay and MPPL has been shooting there since 1982.
  13. Got new lens in the mail today...now if only my frontsight magazine would show up, I'll be a happy guy. OKO service is great. Keith
  14. Chad, Welcome to the forum. I've already made contact... you have a lens on the way to me as I type. Your original offer of a blue lens assembly is still tempting... any chance of OKO owners ordering different colored assemblies, just for style points? Keith
  15. Mech-tech uses pistol magazines... so you're limited to 10 in Hawaii.
  16. In Hawaii, Walmart and Kmart don't sell firearms or ammo. RIshii is right, most of the IPSC shooters in Hawaii mail order their equipment. You can get hold of Cem through his website...http://www.E-TAC.US he doesn't have much in stock, but you can contact him to make an order.
  17. Pulled my AR-15 9mm carbine out of my safe and found that my OKO lens has cracked. Is there anyone fixing these things in the USA? Keith
  18. Try this company: http://www.duluthtrading.com They have several t-shirts that are longer, to stay tucked... they even have a high tech version that wicks away moisture.
  19. Back in the old days of shooting IPSC (back in the late 80s) we had a local cowboy shooter who would compete with his single- action revolver. Carried 2 spare loaded cylinders and drew from a IPSC legal (Gordan Davis) holster...on the short courses he was pretty competitive. I often wonder what happened to the Waco Kid...
  20. Gee this new format is sometimes tricky.... what I wanted was pictures of the hammer lightening.
  21. I was shocked to see that the thread I had started was active again. It has been a while since I had the problem... I modified my ejector, filed, bent, heated and pounded my ejector...replaced my ejector with a new factory part. Still was being hit on the head... finally replaced the extractor and spring assembly. Problem solved... runs great. Love shooting it at the monthly night match... no need to search for my brass. Keith
