  1. Shot this one today Limited 6 pts down Time 6.48 HF 12.963 105%
  2. This is just my opinion but I feel USPSA is more difficult. There are Masters in IDPA that are C class in USPSA. To me it seems there's a lot more talent at USPSA matches. Plus, I think the stages are more difficult. More movement, more targets, ususally more difficult targets too. Many different ways to shoot a stage. When I started shooting USPSA I felt like I was so far behind the curve on stage planning because most IDPA stages don't give many (if any) options on how a stage can be shot. It was programmed in for me to shoot outside in. The slice the pie target engagement requirement doesn't let people work to thier strengths. I shot a lot of USPSA stages like I would IDPA and that's not always the best way for USPSA. Hardley ever is. IDPA is fun and is challenging but I just don't feel it makes you better at USPSA.
  3. Cool story bro. How many people ask how can I get better at X? What they're asking is how can they get better at X without practicing X. Sometimes Capt. Obvious has to make an appearance. Read the OP's last sentence. But good job taking one sentence of what I said out and trying to look cool.
  4. I just happened to be looking moments before I saw this thread. Normally you'd think a 10% off sale would be cheaper than buying direct.
  5. Got my Prima SV in today. Gonna load up some tonight and hopefully test tomorrow.
  6. It's cheaper to order direct. Lower price than midways 10% off and free shipping from starline.
  7. I also feel IDPA should be avoided if you want to get better at USPSA. Other shooting sport? Shoot more USPSA. Or practice for USPSA more. A well structured practice session could be more beneficial than a monthly match for skill improvement. Other games? I'd say anything that helps with aspects important to USPSA. Movement, reaction times, hand eye coordination.
  8. Have you tried what motosapiens said? I've also loaded a lot of Prima v and get very consistent drops and single digit SD. You do have drop a lot to get it settled though.
  9. Ouckin guo Ain't nobody got time for that. I don't pick up any brass. I can buy processed .40 for about $.03 shipped. 9mm is less. As for a SWIM, I'd pick one up in .40! .40 minor is nice!
  10. Thanks for the measurements. The ones giving me the problems ate about .400" at the front. How do I get them back?
  11. I just boguht 11lbs of Prima SV. I've used Prima for 9mm and liked it. After Cha-lee posted that he was getting good results with SV I figured I'd consider it. I just want to get something working and go. I don't want to fiddle. E3 just didn't impress. Even if some of the ES issues were on my end. Hopefully I'll like SV and much as I do V. I'll update once I get something worked up.
  12. I've got some Vectan 9 1/2. It's supposed to be equivalent to N320. I tried 5.0 gr. My chrono fell over while testing today but I think I was getting 860 fps. I need about 940fps. I'll have to test it again after I make sure my chrono is working. I might also try prima sv.
  13. Went back out to chrono. My set up was better. I was getting about 16SD and 40ES. I've used two different powder hopers with E3 and also loaded up some ammo with 5.0 gr of 9 1/2. E3 is consistent when the press is smooth. I tested 20 drops with just a case in the powder stations and got as consistent as your expect. But adding the rest of the stations and the variations increased. The 9 1/2 was consistent not matter what but it's a ball and the E3 is the flake. So, that makes sense. I'm still not sold on E3. But not sure I want to go with 9 1/2 either. The wind blew over my chrono so I had to stop testing. Probably gonna have to bump the 9 1/2 up to 5.2. Hopefully I can get back out and chrono some more and get a load settled on.
  14. Sorry to start antother thread about mags but I'm not finding the exact info I'm needing. I'm shooting .40 major with MBX mags. Two questions. 1. How often are y'all changing followers and springs. 2k? 5k? 2. What are the dimensions supposed to be for front and back of the feedlips? I've got two mags where one side the followers are popping up and jamming the slide when empty. These two are wider than the others and I'm assuming that's why? The springs and followers need to be replaced I'm sure but I'm not sure that's going to solve the problem.
  15. Just to be clear. I'm not blaming Rowdy for anything. The chrono results could be due to something I'm not doing correctly. The gun you sold me is awesome! I tumbled the loaded ammo you gave me. People swear that doesn't have an affect on it's performance but who knows? Like I said, there also may have been some errors on the chrono process on my end. So, who knows. I do feel that my set up on my press is still not completely where it needs to be. So, there may be some issues there too. I'm starting to think .40 takes a little more effort/steps than what I had to do with 9mm. The first is dealing with any bulge. So, you have to either push thru separately (which I do not want to do) or U die. Both make the case undersized and therefor it's gonna cause more friction on the expanding and belling stations. I also think you need to do more for lubing than just putting cleaned (wet tumbled) cases in a bag with a spray of one shot. I do not want to use any other lube but I think I'll have to throw the cleaned cases in the tumbler with dry media w/polish to help the sticking issue I'm getting. I'll get this worked out. Hopefully this weekend.
  16. I was just speaking with a gun builder about this yesterday. He told me that they are not needed. He recommendeds them to help save against really hot ammo. Not store bought hot but stupid over any listed data hot. Like almost crazy mistake load hot. I'm currently using one but doubt I will keep doing so. I've never used one and while I think they do lessen the impact, I know of several folks that have 50k rounds thru there major guns that don't use them, so it's kinda hard for me to believe they really save a slide/fame.
  17. I always enjoy watching your videos.
  18. Thanks everyone for the replies. Sounds like I've got a couple of small things to work out. Though, I'm still curious to why I was getting such a high SD/ES on someone else's ammo?
  19. Talking about consistency, I'm using a 1050 with Mrk 7. The case coming off the Mr BF powder funnel is kinda doing this double thump. I'm used to it doing it once with 9mm but can't remember it doing a double thump. It's sticking. I'm gonna try tumbling in corn cob to see if that powder residue will assist/lube the case so it'll easy off more smoothly. I use one shot, but just spary inside a bag and then roll the cases in it. I don't spray inside the case mouth. I've never had this problem with any other powder I've used. While I don't want to take the powder measure apart and debut it, I may if that helps. Do you have a link to something showing how and what to debur? Thanks.
  20. The accuracy seems to be good. Only tested at 15 yds off hand and it's good. But getting 130'ish ES seems awful high. I'm loading for 170pf to avoid any minor issues but 130 swings seem high. I just loaded up another batch at 4.2 and still getting .2 gr fluctuatations in drops. Normally I would think it's something I'm doing, and it still could be, but chronoing someone else's loads and getting the similar inconsistent velocities makes me wonder. I am going to go back out and chrono tomorrow but with .2 gr powder drop inconsistenies I doubt it's going to tighten up.
