At SHOT Show 2005, I saw some black plastic grip panels for many types of guns (including 1911) which were very unique. The area under the trigger finger was built up such that squeezing the trigger prevented torque on the gun. The area under the middle and first index-finger nuckle placement on the grip was built up significantly. kind of gimmick-y, but it worked and was interesting. Doe anyone know what these are called and the availability? I thought the booth was somewhere near Western Powders/Les Baer/? end of the exhibit hall, along the wall, but I could be mistaken. thanks for the help in advance...

When mine had this jam, It was the curved arm that the coil spring sits over that was the culprit. As the indexing arm moves the primer disc, this peice retreats into the cast base, if I remember correctly. It had bent out of plane, and was causing mucho problems with indexing and sticking. I bent it straight (curved part, but in plane with the rest of the indexing arm, but a while later it acted up again - replacement fixed it. Best of luck, Matt

I hate that it has decided to rain for three weeks straight right after I started my addition on my house. The new full basement is getting 2" + of water a night which runs into my house and makes my gun room soggy. I dont't know if my guns are rusting, as I haven't been home long enough to do anything but collapse/sleep/shower/go to work/repeat. I hate that I am at work at 7 pm on the Friday before a holiday weekend, and I will be here tomorrow bright and early. I hate that I will have to call my friends that were to help me with the addition and roofing tomorrow and tell them that the deadlines at work will dictate my schedule once again, while it keeps raining...... I hate that I am behind on everything that is going in my life right now, including work, the house, sleep, reloading, and shooting practice... I have only taken my .410 out once all spring, and it is getting lonely. Whew... that feels good. I gotta get back to work....

I called to order some Dillon parts, a book (no, I havn't read it yet) and some Slide Glide, and Brian answers the phone. I hope I didn't sound like too much of a geek, as I stammered for the first few seconds... He was super helpful, and clued me in that there is a primer assembly quick-change for the 650! I ordered one, and I am stoked! - That will take the sting out of changing calibers as often as I do. I got a T-shirt for the heck of it, and like the fact that he has Dillon at a discount. When considering the Zen of the container and contents, content and volume are only part of the equation. One must consider the abilty to fully use the contents to their maximum benefit in a way that satisfies the objective at hand before the full analysis of either the container or its contents. Not all containers are equal, nor the volume therein. Is the container too large, volume too great? Or its contents too small in quantity or quality? One need ask why the substance in question is lacking in volume or qulaity and what the result of that expenditure has accomplished. Only then will the way to improvement be found and the completion of the path to fullness be clear; the real possibility and path needed for change to the container or the contents will be known. I have volunteered and scored at the local level of Mathcounts. These kids/Mathletes are amazing. They can figure HHF's in their head before my Hewlett Packard clears naugahyde. I really like the fact that this sport (shooting) has a lot of math, physics, and engineering involved with it. While others are trying to game a stage, I am trying to see how the pillow-blocks are set on the swingers, or finding the best angle for shooting from a port, and how that affects the target projection profile to the shooter (shooting somewhat edge-on at targets to the far right or left). I guess I just like to think about stuff like that. It rubs off on my daughter, who asks LOTS of questions, and can give an impressive discourse on higway surface drainage, or asphalt-composite surface course construction. (I am a highway engineer.) I am surprised noone has jumped on the Mathcounts t-shirt. No other engineers out there? Isn't this the most geeky shooting-shirt you have ever seen, or what? I have a whole stable of these free shirts, and some people are just speechless at the range. Sometimes I go shooting directly from work, and have thought of getting a pocket protector and adding a belt-pouch for my HP calculator just to see if I can get a rise out of some of the other shooters. SiG Lady, thanks so much for the posting. It looks much better than my copy of the photo. Vince - I have no idea on the phone. It was a silver flip phone that a friend had - color display. My copy of the photo is very grainy, but SiG Lady worked her magic... Never too young is right. My son is 16 months and loves to mimic my dry-fire drills with the letter "L" fridge magnet! Anything that even approximates the shape of a pistol....He even has a decent isoceles-like stance most of the time. Too cute. Matt gotta love this game!

My daughter (will be 4 next week) packs a shotgun just like that! I like the belt pouch for he ammo! We seem to loose the rubber darts and the little ducks (targets) on a regular basis. I think my 16-mont old son, Gunnar, hides them in his room. Very cool. By far the best pics I have seen on this site for a long time. Matt

While participation is key to the success of this board, I have found 90% of my questions are not unique, and spend more time searching through old posts to solve my questions, hence the low post count. Interesting post, and I look forward to responses. As a Civil Engineer, I am also interested in the theories and practices of range construction,and would be interested in your printed resources you are using as sources, if any. I have not had much luck finding printed information on range design, layout and material specifications, so I have created my own opinions on material and design from my limited experiences. I like our range in Missoula, MT as it has a large timbered mountain behind the berm, so the potential of bullet escape in the down-range direction has no significant consequence. Keep us posted on your book. Matt

I hope this is not a taboo subject... I would like to disable or eliminate the Firing pin plunger on my slide, and associated other parts fom my para to prevent their breakage and any associated problems that they might cause problems (KISS concept). Mechanically, it looks as though I could make appropriately sized washers ( including thickness) to replace the parts in the frame, and remove the plunger and spring. Anyone doing this out there? Am I correct? I am comfortable with the tasks and realize there is polishing, etc involved. thanks in advance. Matt

I have to laugh at cutting the bullet lube with parafin... I had thought the same thing, but haven't cast in quite a while. I couldn't see forking over $30 each for safariland mag pouches, so I bought a sheet of kydex on the internet ($20 delivered) and fashioned my own with a set of tin shears, a butane torch and rivets. After usign them a few months, I found a good set of three 771's for sale used for a good price, but my Cheap Bas!&@*'s s (CB's for short) still get a lot of looks. I still have enough maerials for bout ten mor pouches! I am still working on my AR mag pouch for 3-gun.... So far I have yet to buy anything new gear-wise for this game, excepting some gun parts/replacements and reloading components. But I have to say, my used gun and holster are awesome! Matt

A fellow shooter has a neat one-peice hook-thing that is a tool to help load his para 45 magazines (push down on the top round), and I am looking for something similar for my P-16. I am using SVI for para tubes, if that matters. I bought a HKS 452 tool, but the plastic is TOO weak for the large capacity magazines. Help, my thumb is killing me. Thanks, Matt

Whoa, sorry about that... I can totally see how that could happen. With no sound, it looks like you are in the middle of a good run when the RO leans toward you. I am a newbie, (started this spring) and as such, was just asking specifics in order to learn the lesson you were teaching through this thread/video. Thanks for sharing it. Matt
