Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Well, got my extractor from Angus on Saturday. Took it to a match on Sunday and everything worked well. Still haven't heard from CZ, and haven't had a chance to call them. Not worried about the trigger spring issue. I'll Get a couple of factory ones for spares and let it be. The trigger pull difference isn't a deal to me. Just wasn't sure if it was a modded factory spring (which I thought it was), if it was a special spring I had to get from Matt or Angus, or if it was a spring out of another CZ model. It only has stuck on me in practice when I don't take the time to clean it first.
  2. Thank you for the information Angus, it's greatly appreciated. You'll be getting another order from me, lol. Tried to take a few pics of the extractor with it still in the gun, but they didn't turn out. I'll let you guys know what I hear from CZ.
  3. It did, I've had the gun since December of '06. But it still hangs up at times, and it just takes a little extra cleaning around the trigger bar area. So can I get the trigger springs from Matt then? I assume the ones from Angus are factory springs. Or are the springs a factory spring, but from a different gun? Sent CZ USA an email early yesterday afternoon, and haven't heard anything back yet. I figured it would probably take a day or two to get a response. If I can figure out how to post pics, I will post a pic of the extractor tonight. On the bright side, my new extractor shipped today from Angus.
  4. When I got my gun from Matt last December, he included one. I've already used it though. When I was on Angus's site, I saw those, but not sure which one I need. The one included from Matt looked like it had some work done to it (not sure though). Are the ones from Angus factory springs? I know the one I put in appears to be weak as it doesn't have much tension to it. The spring in the gun when I got it from Matt was the same way. There have been a couple of times when the gun was new and even after having to replace the trigger spring, that the trigger wouldn't fully return to reset without me pushing it back. Cleaning the trigger bar area takes care of this issue. This is another reason why I question if the trigger spring is modified or not, just seems weak. I understand this improves trigger pull.
  5. Thanks for the response guys. I'll call CZ, but also got one coming from Angus. If it broke once, I guess I better have a spare.
  6. Hello everyone. Went to practice this afternoon and 12 rounds in, my extractor broke on my SP-01. The claw snapped off right at the end. Is this common? I've done a search and haven't found anything for them breaking.
  7. Strange, haven't used the Precision's. Been using Delta Precision's 124g RN and can load to 1.160", have also been using Frontier's 124g RN and load to 1.150". When I was shooting Zero's 147g JHP, is when I found the mag problems with the bullets hanging up and not feeding, therefore had to load them to a shorter OAL. I've checked both brands of RN loads and neither contact the lands of the barrel. I've also never had either of the RN loads hang up in the magazine. Good to learn something else to put into the knowledge bank.
  8. I haven't had an issue with OAL and the barrel, but where you run into problems is the magazine. Some bullet designs (esp. in 147g) will hang up on the cut out for the mag release. I've been able to load some 124's to 1.160" OAL and feed fine. I'm still using 124g bullets, but with the brand now, I have to load to 1.150". I have found that in most of my guns, I get better accuracy by loading longer.
  9. Thanks Carlos, I'll check it out. Yep they are the cast ones, guess I should have mentioned that. Like I said, I have no issues with the bullet. They are accurate and hold up. The plating on them looks good. Every once in awhile I look at the plating on some of them and I don't even see ripples in them like I have with other plated bullets. Strange thing is they don't seem to be popular. All the guys I shoot with have never heard of them and I haven't seen much on the forums about them.
  10. 124g RN (Precision Delta) over 4.3g Titegroup at 1.145- feeds 100% and gives a PF of 137 out of my gun 124g RN (Frontier-plated) over 4.2g Titegroup at 1.130- feeds 100% and gives a PF of 136-137 out of my gun 147g JHP (Zero) over 3.2g Titegroup at 1.130- feeds 100%, but don't recall PF- I think 130-132 out of my gun Sorry slight thread drift here. While we are on the subject of loads for the SP-01, has anyone else tried Frontier plated bullets? I've shot a lot of them and like them, but at close targets I get these two crazy swirl marks around the bullet hole. Each one is probably 2 to 3 inches long. It looks to be lead marks. I get good accuracy out of these bullets (can hit a 10" gong at 50yds all day long) with no key holes at any distance I've checked. They group well also. I started using Delta Precision because they are the same price to my door, and have just a little better accuracy. I've still got 13k of the Frontiers to use though, and have no issues of using them in a match. Just wondering if anybody else has maybe experienced this with this bullet?
  11. West, you are correct. Usually loading long will give you better accuracy. The problem with the SP-01 though is that certain bullets (147g JHP) get caught and hang up on the cut out for the mag catch. This brings all feeding to a halt. Now when I first got my SP-01 I still had some 124g RN Berry's left over from last year. With that bullet design, I was able to load them to the same specs as for my old gun. I could load those to 1.165" OAL and never had a feeding issue in the 3000 rounds that I shot of those. I made the switch to the Zero 147 JHP this year and that is when I found the hidden little secret of the SP-01 mag and this bullet design I think it all boils down to who's bullet your using, material it's made of, and what the design (ogive, etc) is like. But as you stated, the shorter you go with OAL, you may need to adjust your powder charge. Same with going long, if you get too long you can cause pressures to go up. I have also found that some of the faster powders get better accuracy with a shorter OAL. I don't know if this is due to the pressure they build, esp in a 9mm, or if it is due to a related pressure spike. This post almost brings up more questions than answers
  12. First off, replace the mag springs with Wolff +10's. I did this to my brand new SP-01 mags after I also had some feeding issues. I know you're using factory ammo, so you're stuck with the length. If you do any reloading, shorten you're OAL if you can. Don't forget you may need to change your load. I'm running 1.120" OAL with a Zero 147g JHP. The nose of the bullet gets caught in the hole for the mag catch. I have run longer OAL's with no issues after I put the Wolff springs in, but for the sake of being assured reliability, I've went shorter. Not exactly the answer you're looking for, but hope it helps.
  13. Rest assured that Mike isn't a yuppie, but he sure is a hell of a nice guy to take us out to Flemming's. Shall we make this a post match thing Mike? After every match you can take us to Flemming's. You coming tomorrow? Going to be cold as heck. If so, see ya there.
  14. Did I read this right Mike? You said you're going to take us out to Flemming's!! Man you're a hell of a nice guy
  15. We usually shoot the 1st Sunday (SS, production, revo), 2nd Sunday (all divisions), and 4th Sunday (all divisions). There are some Saturdays mixed in this year. Our matches start at approx 9:00am. We do setup before the match. Round count can run up to 200 rounds (6 stages) depending on the number of stages. If it's nice out, there are normally 6 stages and as many as 7 or 8. We are usually done and put away between noon and 1:00pm. Check out the website for more info, http://www.ioweb.com/oops/ Hope to see you there sometime.
