  1. Mag release should be wider than a standard 1911, but I'm 99% sure I put a regular old Ed Brown ambi safety in my STI Edge......I can yank it out if need be.
  2. Have used Titegroup and Clays for the 165's and TG meters a lot better for me.
  3. I certainly like it. The gun is very tight and is as accurate as my STI or 5" Kimber Eclipse. This one needed some extractor tuning, but eats everything I feed it now.....even with a buff (for practice). In the summers I sometimes wish it were an ultra carry, but that's because I'm thin and like to carry at 6 o'clock. I just can't imagine going to a gunfight with a small gun.....
  4. Kimber Series I Aluminum Compact in .45 ACP. S&A Magwell. Clear Alumagrips. A little buffing on the flats with emery paper.
  5. Likely a lot more than Comp Masters.... 3 gun shooters are an extremely small population to market to (heck, the majority of the general public has no idea what USPSA is). Now...if they would have marketed it as a "home defense" 1100 with "applications in competition" the general public would have had more interest and may have been able to sutain the line.
  6. The first run external extractors had problems with tension. I know of a couple that had to go back. Later Kimber changed the slide design a bit so the rear of the extractor is exposed back by the firing pin stop. The early runs were thin and could crack there. I'm not sure how that figures into reliability, but it's a point of interest.
  7. JD, I feel your pain. My STI Edge never shreds buffs. In fact, I forgot about chaging buffs until this post and I wager I have at least 5000 since the last one...... The Kimber just ate them. I didn't find the Kimber overly sharp, but I think one small bur can really hammer a buff to pieces. If you wish, I can take a pic of my slide and the mods done after the first of the year and post it for you to compare. Internet logic is kind of "fuzzy".
  8. I was shredding Wilson buffs every 200 rounds in my Kimber Eclipse using the stock springs. I found that the slide area that contacts the buff had very sharp edges. I barely broke the edges with a file and some emery paper and now the gun runs a few thousand per buff.
  9. Militec gets gummy in the cold. FP-10 has lengthened the life of my 7STW to a current count of 1200 rounds and .5 MOA. Those things usually eat barrels at this count.
  10. I think it's pretty hard to beat a standard AK style brake. I can watch the crosshairs easily with those.
  11. How's this? Almost a year and the edges haven't lost the edge. I'd definitely do it again.
  12. Patrick Sweeney nailed it. Any other info can be found on www.ar15.com
  13. If you bump fire three mags some handguards can be too hot to handle. even if floated. My FIRSH will handle will start to get hot with 90 rapid fire rounds. Most aluminum guards get hot after sustained fire. If you want cool, go carbon fiber.....or buy a glove!
  14. I second that. The black Teflon DPMS LaBelle's have the nicest finish I have ever seen on an AR mag. I have green followers for my 30 round mags, but they have yet to burp with the standard configuration so they wait in reserve.
  15. Hard to beat these kit prices. Model 1 sales
  16. Nice. I'm waiting for Olympic to come out with "UPCR" designated rifles to compliment their PCR line (Politically Correct Rifle).
  17. I've found some huge differences in AR mags. USA mags tend to be absolute junk IMHO. I really smooth gun may run them, but I've had the bolt over jam and had them lock the bolt back on the last round. I highly recommend the LaBelle 20/30 round mags. The 30 round mags nearly hold 31, drop free, and even with the black followers have been 100% in my Olympic OA-93 carbine.
  18. Eagle firearms is selling LaBelle 30's for $20 a piece with free shipping for orders of 5 or more. I expect them to go down after the ban expires. Regardless, they are excellent quality mags.
  19. Those are $7 for three and the reviews are quite good over at Arfcom.
  20. This stage was par for the course at Logan's Ferry. The stage will find your weak spots in a hurry and I think that's good. I would, however, had liked to have the option to charge the targets.
  21. I have one of each. I have an Eclipse Target 5" with the bushing and a Compact Aluminum Stainless 4" with a bull barrel and no bushing. Both guns are very tight shooters and neither lack in that department. Pros: Bushing: Less weight Bushingless/bull: More weight Cons: Bushing: Less weight Bushingless/bull: More weight If it balances well for you, it' good to go. As Rhino stated, I don't believe Kimber makes a bushed barrel in it's compact and subcompact guns.
  22. http://www.clairtonsc.org/ Scores aren't in yet. I got all the hits, but had some Deltas.
