  1. Like Pharaoh said, I don't want to start a big argument, but they should teach both sides. There's a book entitled "A Case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel that delves into the subject by interviewing the leading minds in most major fields, astronomy, physics, biology, etc... After finishing the book I was really pissed at the school system in this country. Most teachers don't know, they were indoctrinated just like their students.
  2. Gotta get a Gm to look at this. I thought the guy looked good. Nothing wrong this "B" open could find. Maybe that's whay I'm a "B"
  3. I heard Matt Cheely (GM) ask the RO after a stage at the Area 5 what his 1st shot time was. I can't remember the stage, but I think the first shot was around 5 to 7 yards if I'm not mistaken. Anyways, I do remember looking at the timer and seeing .91. I took a Cheely class on movement and watched him go into the .6's on a popper at 7 yards. Consistently. Damn those GM's, damn them!
  4. I shot the super for 3 years before switching to 9mm. I really liked Ramshot True Blue powder. Half the money as the vhit powders and IMO just as good dot tracking. Work those loads up, welcome back and have fun.
  5. John, please tell me how (got a rule?) you can offer a reshoot, for anything other than immediately stopping the competitor for safety reasons. It's not about being a nice guy to the shooter who got fragged, it's about maintaining competitive equity for everyone. We don't offer reshoots when people slip and fall if they maintain muzzle discipline, we don't offer reshoots when people run into props --- this situation may not be any different. You are right on this Nik. There is no rule. When we have these soft interpretations it waters down the whole sport IMO. I would feel bad for the guy and try to be as empathetic as possible, but no reshoot.
  6. Jane, the first deer I killed was with a nicely aimed shot right through the pooper. Hits every vital organ. The doe dropped where she stood. Good, clean, kill. I had just read an article on the technique a few days before and was very happy I had when she wouldn't present broadside. Good luck on your hunting. God speed.
  7. That's creative --- but I'd still have to say no. I'm thinking the external influences thing has to be something not in any way initiated by the shooter, i.e. wind knocking over a wall, dropping a popper, a deer running through the stage, etc. From the original description it sounds more likely that the shooter hit the plate support (rack, post, stand?) than that he hit the plate; following the injury he finished the stage.... I agree with Nik, nothing external interfered. I would say that being smacked with a ricochet from another bay would be "external" though.
  8. I try to have a "M/GM" plan for every stage. Someday, with practice, my ability and plan will be on par. Geez this sport is great!
  9. I would go with the Glock 17 or 34 in 9mm, or the 35 in .40. Bladetec dropped and offset holster, CR speed belt and mag pouches. I would suggest shooting in the Production division for a year or so. You are going to have a blast. There are so many good possibilties and combinations of equipment that no one can tell you decisively what is the best. I think the Glock is a good first choice because they are so easy to modify and work on, and the aftermarket is huge. Plus they just run and run. Chirpy's advice is great. Have fun, welcome to the best sport ever and some of the best people you'll meet!!
  10. congrats, "B" was a quest for me also, then in one summer I made it and am now pushing the "A" card. Ain't this sport grand!
  11. The dark side has you both. Your guns are very clean, are we suppose to clean our open guns, or just add more oil, or both? This cleaning thing, from whence did it originate? Sounds like a myth.
  12. I had this happen recently. A smith (very reputable) installed it. How does it get installed incorrectly? I put one in a .38 super and never had a problem, in fact that was the spare I used to fix the one that broke.
  13. I thought I'd get a .22 conversion for my open blaster, but alas,.... the c-more sight will interfere. What I'm asking is what .22 pistol best emulates a S_I grip. I'm looking for something I can put a Cmore on and draw out of a Safariland 012, or CRspeed WSMII holster. I'm just looking for some cheap trigger time. Please don't tell me airsoft. Any help or ideas? Thanks in advance.
  14. I didn't know that there were no GM ladies? Tell me that info is wrong, please,.... somebody.
  15. BuyTwo of the nines already mentioned and shoot production division in USPSA. I have to say that I do like the buy a 9 & 40 route. In which case I would get a Glock 34 & 35. This gets you in production division with both guns and Limited 10 and Limited with the 40. Welcome to the best sport in the world. For what it's worth, after a year shooting competitively, the whole 9 vs 45 thing will probably be funny to you. I wish I would have started in production my first couple of years.
  16. I agree with the 9mm answers. I would look into the various 9mm's,... Glocks 17 & 34, Smith and Wesson's M&P's, the Springfield XD... etc. Shoot them all if you can before you buy. Ask around about holsters and mag pouches. I'm thinking bladetec dropped and offset. Welcome to the funnest thing I've ever done. I know you and your son have a blast. I shoot with my Dad and I think its great!! Even when he beats me!!!!! This forum and USPSA shooting. Two things you'll both love. Welcome to the addiction.
  17. I shot a stage once that had a clay pigeon that represented a lock on a door. The lock had to be shot before you could open the door. The clay pigeon (lock) didn't count for any points. I really liked the stage. My question is... is there anything wrong with using a clay pigeon in this manner? How about as an activator?
  18. You recently helped me out with an issue, and I always read your posts for good info...... but this ......this means I underestimated your genius.
  19. Can anyone give me some info on a .22 rimfire made by the Daisy BB gun company. When made and for how long? Where to get spare parts, etc... Any info and help appreciated.
  20. I've banged on this point before. Gary Natale is top notch. Sent him my 38 super blaster and some parts and in a week or so I got my 9mm blaster back. Wouldn't have anyone else do a gun for me. Top notch, great turn around, great prices.
  21. PM GM Matt Cheely, he gives one heck of a movement class. I learned so much it will take awhile for all of it to sink in. Nothing beats a GM standing there pointing and teaching while you are doing drills. edited to add Matt is also one nice guy and good teacher.
  22. Just completted a Matt Cheely class on movement. My head is so full of info it will probably take a few days to process it all. Getting a GM like Cheely for a whole day is probably the best tip for improvement for anybody. We covered it all,... entries, exits, shooting while moving, forward and backward. Set ups on target arrays, everything. I should have spent the money years ago. Cheely is a great teacher and took time with us as individuals after each run. I've read the books and for me the hands on demonstrations and execution correction was great. I didn't have to think... AM I DOING THIS RIGHT? Matt was right there to correct and offer constructive advice. I'm just a "B" class shooter and that took 4 years. Could have probably cut that in half had I taken a class 2-3 years ago. If you want to improve and you are serious, taking a class from a GM like Cheely is the best tip I can offer anyone.
